This should be an idea board. Sometimes ideas and suggestions are taken as facts. This thread started with my
agreement in playing DW now, knowing full well the repercussions from certain characters on the BY. You see on this board Commandment #1 is Thou shalt not burn a Freshman QB's Red Shirt. In so doing do one must face the BY college of Cardinals!LOL!

I also suggested that not playing DW could result in him leaving the program and went on to say the if I were his father and didn't see a clear path to him playing soon, that I might advise him to pack his bags. I backed my thoughts by three major programs that successfully started true freshmen QB's in 2016 . I also highlighted 3 QB's who have left our program in recent years. I never once said the DW father pushed any buttons nor was he bullying the Multi million dollar program. I merely suggested it is something that I might do. Professional players have agents, student athletes have parents.

The reference to bullying has to do with a style of sarcasm that has existed on this board for a long time. I'm used to it
but every once in a while you have to call the culprits out. The reactions are always very predictable.

Let's see how Donovan handles himself against BC. As one poster stated the decision has been made.

It's not as much about burning a RS as it is that he obviously was not ready to play and the timing couldn't possibly be worse.

As far as DW threatening to leave? LMAO. If that's why he played him he should be fired on the spot.

You need to develop thicker skin. You're not in an echo chamber and this isn't a Pop Warner football board.

So you either want to see a replay of Donovan Williams very first game against Holy Cross on 8/31/2017 or another year of Bryant Shirreffs. Pick your poison!

Completely false and intellectually dishonest choice.

We don't know how DW would have looked against Holy Cross. Considering the competition, the added time in practice, film room, and the weight room, it's unlikely that we would have seen the same deer in the headlights that we saw against Temple.

And

Virtually nobody is arguing for another year of BS whether or not we agree with Diaco's decision to start him.

I think BS is better than people give him credit for. He's not a terrible QB, he's average at best. We don't win a game this season with a "terrible QB". It really can't be overstated how bad our OL is. But now it's DW's team. If the OL "blocks" for him the same way they did BS, he's going to (continue to) look terrible too.

So you are going on record as saying you are okay with Donovan Williams first game as a starter would be the Holy Cross game?
You know he will be ready to go after lifting weights, practice and watching film. No deer in the headlights because it's only Holy Cross and no benefit in him getting three D-1 games under his belt. Now do you know that for a fact or is it just your opinion? Furthermore do you know he will look terrible if the O Line blocks like they did for BS or is that again your opinion? Which by the way you are perfectly entitled to but please don't pass that off as intellectual honesty.

I personally prefer three college games under his belt plus all of the above.

Finally, regarding your comment "I think BS is better than people give him credit for". I never said he was terrible. I have been quite complementary of his work ethic and toughness but regarding your comment, does "people" include the coaching staff at North Carolina State?

If I knew we would be 3-9 this year I would have preferred 12 DW starts under his belt before the Holy Cross game.

I just don't like that we gave up on the possibility of a bowl game. Not even P did that.

I literally said "we don't know" what Williams we would have seen. What is wrong with you? "Unlikely" doesn't mean "will" or "won't".

And @businesslawyer has already explained why what the coaches saw at NC St think. He's the best QB we've had (that finished his eligibility) in 5-6 years.

nobody cares what I go on record saying.

By the way, Iowa (and others) wanted Donald Brown as a CB. Coaches get things wrong all the time.

Business lawyer does a nice job with his game reviews from a fan perspective. I enjoy reading his analysis but he is not an FBS coach. The NCS coaching staff knew all along what Shirreffs upside was. They saw Jacoby Brisset coming (NE Pats) and so did BS. Now with Donovan Williams it's Deja vu all over again. The future is Donovan Williams. It's time, his time!

Wait, what new offensive system?

Bottom line is UCONN is dead last, 128th in the FBS in scoring offense with 16.5 points per game! Do you think the NCS coaches are saying they blew it? I won't blame it all on BS. The play calling has been lousy as well but it is time for a change. This is used a lot but you know what they say about insanity!

If your argument is that BS was rejected by NCSU's coaches... you might want to go back to the drawing board. DW didn't have any FBS offers and it was clear panic from Diaco to get someone committed.

They saw Brissett coming? He transferred there from Florida - every half serious cfb fan in the country knew who he was.

So, Mr. college football you are saying that Donovan Williams is going to suck and you think Sherriffs is the answer. You've made your point now you gotta live with it. Next you are going to say, I hope I'm wrong!

LOL. I have said no such thing and no I don't live up to the points you make up for me.

You might sometime take a look back at the conversations we've all had the last three years - and maybe consider what has transpired.

That you've been completely wrong across the board since the day Diaco got here. Don't let that stop you from attacking people tho.

Whaler, myself, and a few others were Public Enemy #1 here during Diaco's first year. There were signs from day 1. We either hired a brilliant coach or a used car salesman.

We got the used car salesman.

You and Whaler have to admit, we are having fun again! I will give you my contrarian answer later. Gotta go. This should get interesting. We need each other. Love will keep us together!

I hate Whaler's guts but when he's right, he's right.

I'll join confident Carl on the wacky side of the house. Horray for 3 DW games this season. I'm not going to rehash my position - its all in the thread from last week.

Our 6th losing season has the last remaining fans at each others throats.....sorry and predictable I suppose.

Whaler you are wrong as two left shoes DW had mutiple FBS offers as a Wideout/Safety/DB Athlete and I stated this before but your freakin alzheimer is kicking in he was offered by Wake, Duke, VT but because he said no he wanted to play QB they decided not to list those offers for fear of embarrasment. Now get off of the BS train this is now D Trains team you old cuss!

Soooo... none of the recruiting websites or VA local media that covered Hylton knew about these offers but you do? Pray tell. Where these offers before or after he committed to UConn in June 2015?.

(This is not questioning DW's athleticism/ability/potential just what you are posting as fact).
