I've been debating posting this because of lack of credibility. But I guess it doesn't really matter if nobody believes, so I'll just write it.

The Sunday after DW first start, I had a chance to speak to one of the players about the team.

The most noteworthy takeaways I got were this. Diaco's story about Williams coming to him, telling him he was ready to play, was completely fabricated(Also worth noting BS was understandably pissed about it). On the brighter side, he also mentioned that the team has not quit on Diaco, that the players are at fault for our mess.

Take this FWIW.

Interesting. Wonder why he would fabricate that back story, especially when it doesn't make Diaco look very strong by agreeing to put in a player because they think they are ready.

Probably because "I burned his redshirt to save my ," isn't a compelling reason to us.

I've always said, he's a to say anything but "he's been practicing well and is ready for this."

Clearly shifted? Strawman? Suddenly there are rules around here as if we are competing in a debate club. No thanks....just ignore my so called strawman posts and move on.

Well what was the point of your post? If the team has quit on Diaco for the 2nd time in 3 years and they lose these last 2 games badly? And they bring Diaco back?

The program will be dead beyond repair.

My point is that its already dead. Damage is in. And I thought you were talking about DW since that is the title of this thread.

And if they disassemble this program prematurely right now, it may be in worse shape. Go over to the Norte Dame, BC, and Rutgers boards, Diaco is not the only head coach on the hot seat. He deserves to be on the hot seat however the next two games will say a lot and next year will answer all the questions and concerns.

No. Not rules. Common sense. There was context to his comment that you didn't bother to learn. 5 pages in, it shouldn't be a surprise to anyone that the discussion may or may not be centered around the title of the thread.

There was nothing "so-called" about it. You fabricated an argument he didn't make, and then tore it down. That's the definition of a straw man argument. He didn't even mention BS, quarterbacks, redshirt, or Donovan Williams in his post.

When you don't bother to read the discussion for context, you don't add to the conversation. It's your right to do that, but it's my right to call out the fact that it's one of the things that makes discussion near impossible here.

You are getting too wound up....but as you noted, its your right.

Whatever the reason for inserting DW now, it wasn't a bad idea.

BS has taken a beating, and is soon to become a dad. I guess it MAY be safe to say that if he was to continue as QB, his focus next year may not have been as intense between the hash marks as it would to be home with his wife and son.

The team is going nowhere this year. I'd rather he get a taste of action the last 3 games this year, and enter next year with some experience, good or bad, or none at all if he stayed on the bench.

Maybe with some experience, we wouldn't be 0-4 in September next year, which would probably happen if his first taste of action was Aug/Sept 2017.

I wouldn't put too much credibility towards his development with starting practice on the first team squad in the Spring in 2017, and a few scrimmages against 1st team defense in August. He is practicing with and against one of the worse teams in FBS.

We soon forget.......the press reports out of Fall 2016 camp made it seem the offense progressed by leaps and bounds over the 2015 squad. Then we soon learned the 2016 defense was much worse than the 2015 version, and the 2016 offense optimism was a mirage and fantasy.

At least now, going into 2017, with 3 games under his belt, DW will have gained some insight as to challenges real FBS opposition talent will offer. Even at that, I'm not too sure UConn still won't start off 0-4, or worse. We loose some OL starters, I'm not sure there is anyone better taking their place. If there was, wouldn't they have been playing by now?

Its not the fact that Diaco burned Williams' red shirt this year. Its when he did it, and under what circumstances. To make a QB switch at the end of a season while bowl contention still hangs in the balance is very tricky. There are Seniors and other kids on the team that aren't playing for next year. They have goals that they are trying to achieve right now. To pull the trigger on an unbelievably raw freshman coming off a short week with a new offensive coordinator is borderline certifiable.

When you consider that the opponent Temple had a stout defense, it makes even less sense. If Sheriffs couldn't go then Anderson should have played end of story. I'm not sure how the coaches could argue that he didn't give the team a better chance to win that game. Playing Williams reeked of desperation on Diaco's Part. He felt he needed something to excite the masses and this was it. JMO but an expanded roll in practice this year, followed by a full off season in the weight room, film room, and working out with his receivers should have been enough to prepare him to assume the mantle of starter in spring ball. If Diaco can't beat Holy Cross, a bad FCS Team, with a first time starter at QB then he should be loaded into a cannon and shot west back to South Bend.

Is Donovan Williams a QB? Or was he a position player that is now just playing a little QB? I'm assuming that latter, but I didn't see our usual starter out there today.

Nope, just a legit question. Watch.p more bball than football, especially when the football team is as embarrassing as it is. Watching today, the kid seemed like he was not a QB outta hs.

Nice to see the football board is in more disarray then the bball board is. I ask a question and immediately get labeled a troll. Lol. Pathetic team anyways.

So you only come over hear to kick us when we're down, cracking one-liners that are more appropriate from BC and Syracuse fans?

Yeah, you're a troll. Delete your account and never attend or watch a UConn game again.

For the love of everything holy. Will you all please shut up now.

No choice, computers and cell phones not allowed at Betty Ford Clinic and they won't let me out until UCONN gets an offense for fear of severe alcohol poisoning. Not sure how long I will be here.

Even worse - a basketball-only guy who came here and proposed the program be shut down so hoop can be moved to the BE.

If DW was a baseball player, this is the "equal-opposite" throwing motion you're looking for, hands breaking down and away from the body. As a D1 football QB.....not so much.
