Georgetown Post Game Thread

I know we all want to pile on Reed, but one positive, his passing is much better. He made a couple of passes in the first half that would have been easy turnovers off his leg a few games ago

I think Tarris' passing has actually been really good. He is seeing the floor much better from the post as soon as he gets the ball and finding the open man. His 2.3 assists for a center is good, but his passing out of the post from double teams has the defense scrambling and rotating and lead to open 3 pointers which Tarris won't necessarily get the assist for. I don't think he is a low basketball IQ player like a lot of people on the BoneYard are saying.

His biggest issue, IMO, is being in better floor position on defense, especially on the off ball screens and PnRs and avoiding bad fouls. His foul trouble fuu cc kks up the flow for his game and it's tougher for him to get into rhythm.

At this point in the season, Ross has lapped Stewart. There’s no reason Stewart with his skill set should be performing like this. He has had more than 6 pts once in 2026.

KJ Lewis should honestly be All Big East. He’s been fantastic this year for them.

Stew has odd body language - it sometimes feels like he doesn't care anymore. Getting 4 minutes off the bench 2/3 into your junior year cannot feel great.

People are not watching this team close enough. Reed has been underwhelming almost all of the new year.

Yeah, first game where I was frustrated all around with no real positive takeaway. Usually he has his frustrating moments (TOs/FTs) with an otherwise solid scoring game. I’m not as harsh as him on other people, I usually don’t see him as the main problem in our games outside of FT shooting

Thread 'We need a point guard'

I am stunned that someone built a team without a point guard and thought it would work. And that he thinks he can do it again next year.

If Seton Hall doesn’t lose KR in the first half, we’re 0-2 against Seton Hall this year - we can only score against them in spurts and when they start to pressure our offense, we simply fall apart. We had Sanogo out there at the end trying to run the offense.

That was just ugly.

I believe part of the problem with the disappointing crowds is the increased ticket prices. It keeps the real hardcore fans out. And a lot of the crowd is then the wine and cheese crowd who come like it’s a social event and are not rabid fans.

If we have McNeeley this year instead of Mullins I think we’re a tad worse because he doesn’t fit the needed role. If we had Mullins last year instead of McNeeley I think the team is definitely worse. McNeeley won us several games by himself, ie. @ Creighton. I don’t think Mullins has shown he can take over for a full game.

I like both guys a lot I’m thankful theyre huskies. Loved McNeelys heart. Felt he got shortchanged cuz that team last year was missing so many pieces.

Yeah McNeeley was our de facto PG last year especially when Diarra was hurting or not on the floor. We don't need that this year as we have Demary who a lot better playmaker.

That's a good question. I don't know Georgetown's NIL situation-that would be something for DFW Hoya to tell us about. KJ would have to carefully balance greener pastures ($$$) at a P5 (yes I am considering the Big East part of that for no other good reason because I love the Big East since the 1980s and I am just biased) and getting enough playing time at Georgetown where he can showcase his skills and play an important role. Remember, he transferred out of Arizona to Georgetown for a more prominent role and also because Tommy Lloyd couldn't fit KJ into his coaching system. If I was his advisor I would tell him transfer for the bigger bucks, but only if your playing time and role doesn't get diminished. I could see Texas being a threat, because like you said he is from El Paso, and Sean Miller is a former Big East coach that can use the fact he is a former Big East coach in explaining to KJ during the portal recruitment how playing at Texas will be better for him. Miller got Simeon Wilcher and Dailyn Swain over from St. John's and Xavier, respectively.

I think Michigan, Arizona, Duke, Houston, St John’s and Florida would all curb stomp us today.

We won't have to play any of those teams until the 8 or final 4.

There were a couple times in the first half he missed some open guys and tried to force things. Just not a good game for him but I'm sure he bounce back. If Reed is on his game it really opens things for our shooters.

Any fanbase not called UConn. The Clingan factor has been swirled everywhere. He may have only played 13/game freshmen year, but those were difference making minutes. Let's just say if they bow out early, you'll see that one surface.

Swain having a heck of a year too, many mocking into late first round. Good call on Lewis, doubt he sticks.

The narrative on this team won't be written until March. In this soft as porridge BE, I'm not sure how much many of us care other than the StJ rivalry and how it prepares us for the Dance.

The narrative Hurley will face is: can he win without Donovan Clingan? Can he win in March with a team that isn't that much more talented than other teams?

Right now, I'd say the hope is F4. It would be nice to get into the third weekend and that banner. I think if Hurley gets that far, it'll be considered an achievement. The expectation is the Elite 8.

The national media doesn't view Donovan Clingan as the second coming of Lou Alcindor.

Okay, there’s still “time” to flip a switch, but what makes you think, 24 games in, that we have the ability to do so?!

UConn is 24-2. Two losses are to the undefeated 1 team in the country and to a major conference rival on the road. We are a legitimate natty contender. Like have some humility and understand there are only about 8 teams in this spot.

It's getting to the point where I sometimes forget Jaylin is on the team when I'm watching games. He has 2 points total his last three games and he's played a total of 26 minutes over the last three games.

His regression this year has been so disappointing.

The fun thing is will get to see if there is any curb stomping between Arizona and Houston, Michigan and Duke and St John's and UConn.
