Solo Ball is a gunner.Yeah, he is starting to look like just a gunner but he did have that one drive that he missed the dunk. We need to see more of that to keep defenses honest.

McNeeley was being expected to carry the a mediocre team and was hampered by injuries. Mullins is role player on a much better team. I think Mullins will have a better career as an elite role player, and McNeeley is kind of a jack of all trades master of none. I think McNeeley was a more impactful college player, would have liked to see him with a better team around him.Yes, considerably
I guess I didn't have the gall to call him dumb. I used soft to position a lighter touch. Thank you. Lol.Because he isn’t. He’s just a dumb basketball player. It’s not like he’s afraid of contact. He just comes across to often as aloof and clumsy.
Ok, I get your point. IMO, it is Michigan's title to lose and you may agree. But, UConn is one of a handful of teams, "not that good", that can take them down.Michigan would break this team into 500 pieces.
They're just not that good.
He wasn't, he was 45.6% st the rim. Mullins shoots it better from everywhere.I recall Liam was pretty good finishing around the rim. He was bigger and stronger than Mullins, a better rebounder. He could create his own shot when no one else was doing it. I would like to see Mullins do that more often. He had that one baseline fadeaway off the dribble tonight, but need more of that.
Would we have been any better last year with Mullins over McNeeley? Would we be better or worse this year with Mullins over McNeeley? My hunch is no.McNeeley was being expected to carry the a mediocre team and was hampered by injuries. Mullins is role player on a much better team. Stewart and Ross were still pipe dreams. Funny how a year doesn't change that much.Maybe it is the eye test. Plus he was asked to do it all, forcing shots because no one else could create their own shot. Where do you find that stat anyway (shots at the rim %)?
Yah, AK would a good option also but if we had centers that were shooting 68 to 75% or better, they can do exactly what you are saying. We don't and that's part of our problems in bounding the ball.I would rarely recommend inbounfing the ball to a C.
I prefer a big body who can catch, turn and make a quick decision pass to bust the back side of a press. And to me Karaban best fits the bill.
I'm a big Tarris fan too - have been drunk on his physical talents, but have come to realize the area above the neck will never let the area below the neck reach the kind of expectation I think most of us hoped.New here? I’m the biggest Taris defender on this board. But he isn’t a smart basketball player
Okay, there’s still “time” to flip a switch, but what makes you think, 24 games in, that we have the ability to do so?!I am happier about this than the ugly nightmare at Georgetown - the Hoyas played well tonight. Both us and GT were atrocious in our last game with them.
Still time to flip a switch, but we better find it quickly.
He did an awful lot of just standing at the 3 point line. For such a smooth turnaround jumper, you would think he would use it more. Not a consistent well rounded player, unfortunately. The modern game, is too focused on 3 point shooting, almost to the point where the coaches and players feel like scoring 2 points is meaningless with how little the offense is run to score close to the basket. Of course, the clip at which a lot of the players miss close shots, says they are what they are, style over substanceYes and yes. If he is covered at the 3 why doesn’t he dribble and pull up? He often is trying to pass it off which doesn’t work. Been calling for this for weeks.
I don't understand the rushing guys out the door. Our guys leaving early hasn't worked out well historically.Don’t get me wrong I love Mullins and he has a beautiful shot but he can’t take over and dominate game the way Silas can. Handle just OK. He is going to sit on an NBA bench a lot or go to G league. What is his draft position? He needs strength. Have we seen him power to the basket when contested? 1 more year and he would have that strength and poise. Can he afford to do that? Probably not but I wish he would think about it.
The problem is both them are. We need a little more diversity in our offense especially when Reed is struggling to score inside for us.Solo Ball is a gunner.
Bottom of the team page here, you can add Rim shooting statsMaybe it is the eye test. Plus he was asked to do it all, forcing shots because no one else could create their own shot. Where do you find that stat anyway (shots at the rim %)?
Yes, but mainly in a very weak Big East!24-2.
It’s not rushing it’s the economics of lottery picks that rushes them out at 1 year. Some players are more than physically ready like Boozer, but Mullins? I don’t think so.I don't understand the rushing guys out the door. Our guys leaving early hasn't worked out well historically.
People (myself included) getting on RuffRuff in the past for saying Tarris isn't tough but you're getting likes for calling Tarris a dumb basketball player.Because he isn’t. He’s just a dumb basketball player. It’s not like he’s afraid of contact. He just comes across to often as aloof and clumsy.
If we perform like we have over the last 15 games we will lose the BET. We will also lose to St. John’s and possibly to Villanova. But we could still get a two seed and make it to the sweet 16, which may just be what this team’s performance arc is.This team needs to take a huge jump to win the BET, let alone reach the FF. I’m concerned we’re going to lose to Nova and SJU coming up.
I think the matchup against Niva is not bad but will have to play well. Johnnie’s looked much better than us…Coach Hurley will need to find some magic to turn tha cornerI'm not at all confident against Nova or St. John's. We match up terribly with St. John's.
I'm going to be really interested to see where he goes in this draft. He plays young. I haven't quite seen this headiness that makes a big difference out there. He's a sharpshooter, catch and shoot. He's got the turn around in his bag that he'll pull off here and there, but he's not really hunting anything that's not a 3.Don’t get me wrong I love Mullins and he has a beautiful shot but he can’t take over and dominate game the way Silas can. Handle just OK. He is going to sit on an NBA bench a lot or go to G league. What is his draft position? He needs strength. Yeah, I can understand that. In order for this team to reach the Final Four, Tarris has to be a big factor and be the favorable match up in almost every game.I'm a big Tarris fan too - have been drunk on his physical talents, but have come to realize the area above the neck will never let the area below the neck reach the kind of expectation I think most of us hoped.
The question with Tarris is can he, and will he, be able to turn it on when we need him most. He's the odd mix of high ceiling, low floor type of athlete.Yeah, I can understand that. In order for this team to reach the Final Four, Tarris has to be a big factor and be the favorable match up in almost every game.
My biggest gripe is the bench. Hurley said earlier this year that this team can wear others down with depth. I understood his plan and idea so I am not knocking him, but the lack of depth won't allow that. Yes, I said lack of depth. Besides Reibe, no one on the bench did much of anything. Ross has a great 3 play sequence, but that really isn't enough. Not to break my arm patting myself on the back, but I saw this issue a while ago when I went to the game at the AMP. On the jumbotron there it shows the number of points scored by the bench. PC's bench outscored UConn's 41-3 in that game.
