He had 9 points in the first half and 6 in the second half. So which half didn't you like? His last basket was with 11 minutes left. Is that what you're talking about? Although besides Karaban nobody on the team scored much in the last 11 minutes so he wasn't the only one.
Solo couldn’t take a shot for last 8 minutes of the game, because Hurley had Diara dribble ball in corner for 28 seconds and then Throw up an air ball on a contested 3 for every possession of last 8 minutes.

Does it really matter? Like, I never get concerned with garbage time
Some game they will be up less and need to milk clock and then get a good look. They had a huge lead and couldn’t lose, but they looked so bad over the last 8 minutes. Diarra has been great this year, but today was a pretty rough game for him, and he really ran the milk the clock offense poorly. He did for the most part, break the press, and not turn the ball over, so I will give him credit for that.

When we were in super stall mode, we delayed picking up the ball after made GU baskets in order to let the clock run. Did anyone notice that the ref started the 5-second inbound count before AK actually grabbed the ball? And that forced AK to rush to grab the ball and make a quick pass, which resulted in a turnover (Hassan stole it right back).

The basket was made with 4:42 remaining in the 2nd half. The ref started his count at 4:36.

Can he start a count before the inbounder has possession of the ball? If anything, I feel like it warranted a delay of game warning.

I love Diarra but in a perfect world he is a sixth man. Cole was Big East first teamer and a lot better shooter. Plus this all started about who was a better player at end of clock/end of game situations. Clearly RJ Cole was better at that than Diarra has been.
Sometimes life isn’t perfect, and in that imperfect world Hassan is a hell of a leader and a PG. It won’t be 2023-24 every year.

I watched the game on replay knowing the final score. That last 8+ minutes was an embarrassment. The last 2 UConn teams would have watched G'town walk to the locker room totally demoralized and the rest of the Big East quaking in their boots. I'm not sure this team is ready for prime time.

I'm basing this off what I have seen from Nowell so far in limited minutes. Maybe it is more hope as Diarra and Mahaney don't really instill confidence attacking the basket.
The only drive to the basket he had today was a wide open path. Mahaney, that's actually one of the things we know he's good at, it's the PG play and decision making that's his issue. And Diarra is actually pretty good at driving to.the basket. I want Nowell to be good as much as anyone, and I think he's going to be great for us over the next few years, but he's not going to come close to replacing Diarra this year.

I’d like to see guys like Abraham and Nowell get more run in situations like that where we feel that comfortable with the lead that we don’t feel it’s imperative to score in bunches there.
With the pesky defense and tenacity GTown played with all the way to the end, putting in two freshmen would not have been a smart move.

No RJ Cole is clearly a better player and scorer. First Team all Big East. Diarra is just a complentary piece on a good team. I love his defense but he is just an adequate Point Guard. Wow some peope really don't appreciate what RJ Cole brought when he was here.
What is your issue with Diarra? Did he steal your girlfriend or something?

I agree RJ Cole is underappreciated, but he did play on a weaker team that what we've had the last couple years, including this year, and I dont think he's necessarily better than Diarra.

But I also think that Diarra is very underappreciated. A complimentary piece and "adequate" point guard? Most teams would kill to have such an adequate, experienced, and dawg of a PG who is 9th in the country in assists and solid ast/to ratio.

We were? I thought UConn was favored between 3.5 and 5. With that kind of spread it would be very strange if Kenpom had Georgetown favored. Can you show me the Kenpom predictor? I'm curious to see how that could be.

I have no issue with Diarra except he is way down the list of great UConn PGs. He does what he does fine. Brings the ball up, runs the offense, plays great D, hits and occasional shot and hits FTs. It is just that his offensive game regarding scoring has a lot to be desired and especially at the end of the shot clock. I would rather have a big better scorer from the PG position but he is our best option right now. He has a very suspect jump shot too which dosn't help him when he can't drive to score.
