The complaints about the last minutes of the road game win and Diarra are mind boggling. Ridiculously spoiled fan base.
Out of curiosity, do you think Hass and Hurley came out of that game patting themselves on the back for the execution the last 8 minute? I guarantee you they’re addressing that both from a coaching and execution side this week and not just pretending like it wasn’t bad.

No one is saying bench the guy or that was unforgivable, but this is a message board. Why is it insane to discuss what was clearly a really bad stretch at the end of an otherwise very good game?

Now that is a wide range of takes on the end of the game. My feeling is you are what you practice. That seemed to be be "wish the game was over " practice. Unless of course 4 dimensional chess to keep it a Quad 1 win. Lets go with that one, BRILLIANT!

I’m confident you’ll see more and more of the upside as the season progresses to the point they will be tournament ready come March

It was with 25 seconds remaining we had the lead and he was so wide open he has to take that shot. I bet the coaching staff will tell him that was a good look and encourage him to take these shots when they review tape.
You are correct that there were 25 seconds to go. I stand corrected. I don’t think the coaching staff would want a 23% 3 point shooter taking that shot rather than running the clock down. There was a 77% chance he would miss and give Georgetown another possession which is what happened. I coached high school for 11 years and spoke to a couple of fellow coaches and neither one thought that was a good shot. Coaches out there want to offer their opinions? And I am not a J Ross hater, he has lots of potential.

I thought that shot was fine, it was wide open and in transition which is a better look than you're likely going to get with a half court set. The shot I didn't like was Nowell's on the next possession, and I'm not sure why we didn't call our use it or lose it timeout there

Didn't we call time out earlier? And my point about the shot is not to give an opponent another possession. I would have been good with the shot if Solo was taking it. We can agree to disagree.

We still had all 4 timeouts left at that point

Exactly. I am baffled by people saying Hurley wants to the take the air out of the ball and milk the clock as a rationalization for the lousy last 8 minutes of that game. Okay, but that can be accomplished without looking so bad and letting the lead diminish so quickly. Do people really think Hurley was happy with those 8 minutes. This is a guy that was up 20+ points at half last year against DePaul and complained in the halftime interview that he didn't like the last shot selection which resulted in a DePaul basket at the buzzer.

Do people quickly forget about the Providence game at MSG in 2023? UConn was up 58-32 with 12 minutes to go and then we were left biting our nails with 3 minutes to go as the game was in doubt. For the most part last year's team was really good about finishing games, but there were a few games earlier in that year where their milking of the clock was not great. I expect the coaching staff to work on that get better at it.

Don’t see why you can’t stay aggressive while not rushing, oa couple of hoops would have made for a different feel.

Unless of course we were playing to keep a Quad 1 win

UConn had it's first 60 point half in this game. First time since 1996 or possibly first time ever.

Just run an offense - not sure why so much adversity, it’s not like this is a team that is turnover prone. Why we have one guy dribble around and chuck a low % shot up is baffling.

He might not have been happy but he chose to do it so what could he expect? I mean HD is not that guy to create anything that leads to a good shot from him or anyone else after dribbling the clock down for 20 seconds we’ve seen it so how can that be your strategy? The only baffling thing at all is why the staff allowed it to go on and look so terrible in doing so. They were real good basketball team for like 22-24 minutes through the middle and had momentum why take that away?

Our team played maybe their best game of the season and there was a lot to like but 1/2 the BY is only focused on the last few minutes when the game was pretty much already decided.
UConn had its first 60 point half in this game. First time since 1996 or possibly first time ever.
yet 1/2 the BY only wants to post about the last few minutes of a game that wasn’t really close
