I'm disgusted by how this fanbase remembers RJ. He averaged, what, 16/4/4 his senior year?
His ability to shoot from all over the floor off the dribble was great. He was a really good player for us. I didn’t like his shots getting swatted down low all the time though.

We were up 23 at the 8 minute timeout, up 20 at 6:40. The the risk of losing the game at that point was mathematically .5%. There was zero risk.
.5 != 0
And that “mathematical“ figure does not account for playing as badly as they did. That kind of play pumps the risk up by a big amount.

It’s going to be his strategy. And I’m sure they already practice it. GTown also defended well. Which is apart of the equation. What opportunity did we miss exactly? Winning by 15-16 instead of 8?
Playing like that for the last eight minutes will lose the game against a better team than Georgetown

Yes we do, but he is out with an ankle injury at the moment.
I guess sure, and he has made his share of great plays. Liam is best for it on this team, but he usually is better creating when the off the ball action is occurring. When everyone stops moving UConn really doesn't have a creator off the dribble where you can say "go get a bucket" like the guys I stated in my original post

Fantastic bounce back for Karaban. Awesome to see Nowell with strong minutes. In fact everyone contributed positively. Best we’ve looked on D. Samson looked more like a starting center. Mahaney played pretty good D. My one complaint is that Hass sometimes lets someone get under his skin and the ball gets stuck with him (but it’s out of sheer competitiveness). The best shooter on the floor should have the ball as the shot clock winds down, and that means Solo, Alex or Aidan. Not Hass.

Next step for this team (without Liam) is closing the deal. Hass throwing up prayers at the end of the shot clock is not gonna work. A BE road win is still a good thing for these guys.

There were several phantom fouls called on UConn in the last six minutes

Donny thinks the Hoyas were on the short end. Did he ever take that back? Did he ever talk about the foul and free throw advantage for the Hoyas?

I'm watching from shaky wi-fi while cruising and stopped paying attention at 64-41

He was a bonehead to start the game

Hurley has always done this. Nothing to see here
Maybe but this teams's floor is lower than the last 2 seasons and when they let of the gas they make too many mistakes that let teams back into games.

Just got home myself and it was a great crowd - 17k+. The student section had a few very loud “ duck Dan Hurley” chants going. Not sure if that was heard on TV. However, the Hoya crowd energy was lost after we went on that tear after halftime. They started to filter out right before we went into the funk.
I was hoping to see Abraham get some garbage minutes but that went away when we gave up the big lead. He probably had a lot of family and friends in attendance.

Another promising sight was seeing McNeeley walking around w/o the boot on. He was getting around pretty well considering the injury. Hopefully, he continues to stay on schedule for his return at the end of the month.

As others have said, they played really well until they went to the stall mode.
Kept looking over at Dan Hurley to see if he would take the bait from the G-Town crowd. He barely reacted. Also relatively calm with the refs despite that glaring foul imbalance in the first half. A lot of pushing off by the GT guards on offense with none of it called.

Speaking of a good UConn showing in the men’s game there was an even larger UConn contingent at the women’s game. Looked like a packed house at that venue.

UConn nation showing up.

I think you're selling Diarra short. "In a perfect world" was last season where we had NBA talent at every position in the starting line-up. That's exceedingly rare.

He has shown that he is more than capable of being an elite pass-first PG that can run a high-octane offense. It's January and he's 9th in America in APG and first in the Big East. He also has elite defensive skills, with the only drawback being that he's a bit undersized. And, with the exception of today's game, he takes care of the ball beautifully.
He is doing a good job running the offense. Clearly the best of the bunch. Though you don't think RJ Cole would have a better assist ratio in this offense? Diarra is maximiizing his talent but he is limited due to lack of shot. I love his D, hustle and running the offense but when things break down he isn't very good.

This is such a weird but predictable take. It’s like saying “if there were more time on the clock it would have come down to the wire.” You can dislike it all you want but it seems pretty clear the staff knew the time and score and knew there wasn’t enough time for Georgetown to trade possessions and win. Saying “if the other team was better” is a completely useless observation. They were coaching against this Georgetown team in this situation. I know people are going to hate that but trying to hypothesize about a different opponent in a different situation is completely useless.

Well our "prevent defense" was a -16 in the last 8 min. Kind of took the shine off this one.

I am grateful that AN put some things on tape and we tried almost every lineup in the book.

Samson was mostly a plus, solid defense and really good rebounding. He had more that he kept alive. Win, get better, and move on.
Does it really matter? Like, I never get concerned with garbage time

He had 9 points in the first half and 6 in the second half. So which half didn't you like? His last basket was with 11 minutes left. Is that what you're talking about? Although besides Karaban nobody on the team scored much in the last 11 minutes so he wasn't the only one.
Solo couldn’t take a shot for last 8 minutes of the game, because Hurley had Diara dribble ball in corner for 28 seconds and then Throw up an air ball on a contested 3 for every possession of last 8 minutes.
