I have the same sentiments and I get where Geno is coming from, but I just don't get why people are OK with Geno calling fans balloon knots. You just don't do that. Call them out for being too negative or over reacting. Even if there are so many balloon knots as he is suggesting, too bad. They help pay for the programs. If the coaches don't like the criticism, take a job in another state where fans are used to losing. Seriously, it's ok for people to disagree with great coaches once in a while.
edit: I'm getting a ton of thumbs downs from posters I've never seen before. must be flooding over from the women's board to defend their hero. that must be thing over there 😂
Sounds more like you disagree with Geno. I don't see where Geno is wrong and you're right, or vice versa. (Edited from an error)
Not you in particular, but the vibe leans in some cases toward people acting like crybullies complaining about somebody criticizing them. I think those who dish it out should be able to take it coming back, and even expect it. Definitely should not seek protection from it.
oh brother. watch post #1 and come back and see me
I didn't feel the least bit criticized by the initial post. But I also don't sense any progress toward my saying that we are all, in a sense, teammates, and that it's time, on February 27th, after our best win of the year to come together.
I used to think Geno was an arrogant you-know-what of sorts.
Ever since I started watching each full WBB season, and witnessed him move through multiple years with a crazy number of injuries and a National Championship drought, I now see him as tender, testy, and tenacious. He's 4 months younger than I am. Things change in the body, the mind, the heart.
He's won National Championships in 4 different decades. His team is on a 45 game win streak, undefeated, unanimously ranked number 1, and dealing with the same rapidly-changing college basketball landscape as Dan Hurley is.
I can relate to getting cranky at times. And I am not at the top of my game in a career where I have reached & sustained highest peaks ever.
I didn't feel the least bit attacked or put down by what he said.
I largely assume that nearly everyone here roots for MBB, holds no hostility toward the WBB team, and would locate some measure of good feeling from both teams closing their seasons with a victory.
No matter what, it's still one game at a time. Go Huskies.
