Right, what are we missing?I don't think it's angst....it just doesn't make sense. I honestly thought the game would be a pickem...
I've said all season the further we get from Spanos the better the defense becomes. Hiring Spanos is just about the only misstep that Mora has made.that spanos thing to me seems to speak a lot. I wonder if Mora felt more complacent at UCLA and just decided Spanos wasn't going to cut it for what he wanted to do this time around. I'm just thinking out loud.
Would the fact UConn is 9-2 ATS make a difference? The bookies might be expecting a lot of money on UConn and made Army a better bet.Right, what are we missing?
If that was the case, the line would be lower. As it is, I'm about to drive to Rhode Island; something I hate to do.Would the fact UConn is 9-2 ATS make a difference? The bookies might be expecting a lot of money on UConn and made Army a better bet.
Just guessing here…
Very young. 60-70% of the 2 deep is FR/SO. They are getting some ridiculous experience, notwithstanding that said experience includes winning. Super foundation is being built right now.Boy, seeing the 2 deep this is a young team. Sometimes forget that. Makes getting to 6 wins even more crazy, with a chance for 7. Are Mora and the coaches that good (given at best fairly weak QB passing yardage by Division 1 standards, for non Army/Navy/AirForce schemes)? Team has won more games than not where they had a legit chance to lose, but pulled it out.
Army could very well win, but so could have BCU and Fresno State and even UMess would have been in the game late if they went for and made that 4th down. Somehow even not making the 4th down against Liberty, UConn still found a way to win. You keep doing it over and over again (winning close games) and at some point in time it ain't just luck it's good fortune that follows the prepared who play every play like it could be their last.

Oh man, I really gotta get in the car. Here's the only statistic that's meaningful to me: we're 5-5 against FBS competition, they're 1-6, and their one win wasn't against an opponent anywhere near as good as three of teams we've beaten. I expect to be saying we've beaten 4 decent teams by late Saturday afternoon regardless of any culative statistics that are thrown out at us.
Amry has lost at 9-1 Coastal Carolina by 10, 8-2 UTSA at home by 3 in OT, 7-3 Air Force neutral site by 6, and 8-2 Troy at home by 1. They are a good team and they will present a big challenge to UConn. Here's the problem with comparing these statistics: ours are distorted by the results from blowout losses to 3 opponents who were much better than us, and their's are distorted by how easy their three wins were against truly crappy teams that we would have also handled.
