I simple look at his wiki. That may be wrong.
But can y'all look at it from a POV perspective?
Imagine instead of being the middle class hard working man that you are you are instead a superstar NFL RB and was that guy in college also. Do you imagine the amount of women you would sleep with? The amount of gorgeous women who would throw themselves at you? Coming from where AP came from and having a Dad in jail then all of a sudden being a superstar everyone wants could be a lot for a young man in college to handle. Then you have the fact that a lot of girls would see this man as a dollar sign and do anything to get a piece of the pie. A lot of athletes have these problems. You guys keep using this word abused like he beats his kids out of anger because he doesn't care for them. That's really the part that's making me upset. Not understanding the cultural difference. Where in my home my mom would tell me all the time "I brought you in this world and I can take you out." While she doesn't actually mean it and no parent really does it's that whole thing that I created you and raised you and you will respect me.

I was watching First Take and Stephen A gave an example of his uncle physically disciplining one of his children 30 years ago and the cops came and he simply said to the cops "Are you going to take care and raise my child?" And they left. While y'all might not think it's right that's how we are raised and you have to understand that. Instead of calling a man a monster for doing things out of love that he was raised on himself and turned out great for.

You can keep spouting the same nonsense and keep making the same excuses. You keep saying about what kind of man Peterson is and why he hits his children. I have no idea what his personality is like but I do know he abuses little kids. When you are whipping 4 year olds all over their bodies including their faces and testicles it is abuse. This isn't spanking a four year old on the bottom it's treating them rag dolls. When lacerations are up and down a 4 year olds body and now we find out another 4 year old had his face bandaged and now has a scar above his eye it is clear as day that he is a child abuser. I feel dirty even reading the details and trying to explain to you that this is abuse, you should know better.

It is. It absolutely is. But they were mistakes from not knowing better and going to far with physical discipline. Not because he's having fun whooping his kids ass.

Use the proper terminology. He describes it as "tearing that butt up!"

The exclamation point was his - since we tend to use those about things we get excited about.

I'm not one to care too much about what people may think of me. I'm just here to defend the people misunderstood by others. Issues like these get me upset because news can twist things to make a society think a perfectly fine person is terrible because of a mistake and it happens too often. Then people want actions on a situation they know nothing about. They feel bad for the victim then want actions placed on the aggressor that wouldn't even help the victim. Do you think the child wants his dad to not play in the nfl anymore or not see his dad anymore?

Which kid is that? The one he gave a scar over his eye? The one he just whipped bloody? The one with the stripper mom? Or another one?

A quote from his wiki:

Peterson is a Christian. Peterson has spoken about his faith in his life saying, "http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jesusmeans the world to me. I've been through so many different situations through my childhood and now my adulthood...God just helped me get through them and made me stronger at a young age. [Through] all the adversity and hard times I've been through, God has always been present. I've always prayed to Him and asked Him to give me the strength to endure and to help others and to better understand whatever situation I deal with in my personal life. And He has always showed up! It brings hope and peace of mind knowing that God gave His only begotten Son for us." Peterson also spoke of his faith in relation to his injury of a torn ACL and MCL by saying "...‘This is a blessing in disguise. I’ll come back stronger and better than I was before.’ What flashed in my mind was, ‘I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me,’...".[97][98]

Some people are Christians but are Christians in a way where they just believe in God but don't really study the bible. From reports AP is one of those who really reads the bible and tries to be a blessing to others. Those type of people are morally right usually. It was a mistake that he will learn from. That's why they are letting him play. This will wash away fast.

As someone who is not religious, I find it hard to reconcile this and multiple baby moms who are strippers.

You don't get to just cite being Christian to make others think you're a good person, then completely ignore all the rules when it would inconvenience getting laid.

You still have no idea what he is like behind closed doors. You have no idea if he abuses or abused his girfriends or wives. If he's the kind of christian you are describing him to be, can I assume he thinks being gay is wrong and against god's will. Plenty of a ss hole christians in this world. If you know the dude just say so.

I was curious how you were drawing your conclusions about AP being such a loving father, but didn't realize you were using a freakin' picture as proof.

Like someone else said, it may be time for you to sit this one out. Your arguments are beyond laughable at this point.

Please don't compare physically disciplining your child to slavery. Slave owners didn't see blacks as people.

Let's see. So we strip a human being of his or her agency and allow another human being to physically impose his will through violence and/or threats of violence because of tradition. Yeah, I can't imagine why that might get compared to slavery.

Physically disciplining your child is out of line if for no other reason than it teaches your kid that violence solves problems, and instilling fear into someone you disagree with is a proper response. And obviously, once Peterson's son grows up, he can't use violence to solve his problems. THAT is just one reason why physically disciplining your child isn't a good idea.

I understand that Peterson was disciplined this way as a kid and as a result looks at it in a much different way, and for that reason I would be willing to forgive the guy. He has already seen a psychologist and has acknowledged that there are better methods to use in raising your child. I hope he's sincere and takes to heart the overwhelming data associated with hitting children.

Money, religion or good intentions don't matter. What he did was wrong nine ways to Sunday. If you are truly a Christian you would understand that you are defined by your Acts, not your money or your words. The Acts this cretin committed are wrong no matter what warped intent may have been beaten into him. Whooping room?!? Stuffing his kid's mouth with leaves while beating him with his pants down?!? Head injuries to another kid he beat in his car seat? Another kid he never even knew about until six months before he was killed by another man who is presently awaiting trial for his murder?!?

Oh yeah, the belt is fine though. Gimme a break.

BECAUSE THE AGGRESSOR LOVES YOU AND TAKES CARE OF YOU AND IS TEACHING YOU A LESSON THROUGH TOUGH LOVE. THEY DONT THINK YOU ARENT HUMAN.

Please don't make that mistake. One birthed and created the person, feeds it, puts a roof over their head, and makes no money from it. The other bought the person, makes money off of them, and doesn't think they are humans don't compare the too. That's beyond disrespectful.

It's hard for me to believe that going through it because that's not how I think at all. Nor do most of my peers think like that. Only when highly disrespected do we usually resort to violence. Not simple disagreements. That's foolish. It taught me specifically to respect all elders no matter what I may actually think of them. It just depends how the discipline is used. We don't just discipline are children whenever they make a mistake. It's the type of mistake they make. If it's disrespectful then yes, they get physically disciplined. Because you will have respect.

I'm sure AP won't make the mistake again of using a switch to discipline his child though after being enlightened.

Clearly AP learns from his mistakes. After all, he learned from his mistake of knocking up a stripper by knocking up a cocktail waitress. And he learned his lesson from bloodying up one of his visiting kids face by bloodying up another one of his visiting kids everywhere but the face.

Man never makes the same mistake twice - I'll give him that.

This is insane. No lesson requires drawing blood. Peterson whipped his kid bloody because he was mad at him. That's out of love as much as Ray Rice knocking his wife out is.

Please don't make that mistake. One birthed and created the person, feeds it, puts a roof over their head, and makes no money from it. The other bought the person, makes money off of them, and doesn't think they are humans don't compare the ing too. That's beyond disrespectful.

I'm not making a mistake. I'm correctly categorizing a child as a human being who deserves agency over his/her body. A parent does not have a moral right to impose their will on a child through violence or fear of violence. This isn't about love, and it isn't about discipline. It's about obedience. Peterson beat his kid because his kid wasn't doing what he wanted, the same way that Ray Rice beat his fiance because she wasn't doing what he wanted. If you think that teaches discipline, then you're a bigger fool than I thought. It teaches kids that, provided you're big and strong enough, you can impose your will on other people through violence.

Here's something parents need to understand: your child doesn't owe you respect. You decided to have them on your own, without their input. That doesn't give you the right to beat them into submission anymore than your boss has the right to beat you if you don't do what you're supposed to do. The only reason people think it's OK to hit kids is because kids don't have lawyers and they don't hit back. Adrian Peterson is a coward, and so are you.

After having one son die at the hands of an abuser and Peterson scarring another one of his sons didn't do the trick but I'm sure AP has been enlightened now. Give it a rest, AP is a child abuser and you sound ridiculous making excuses for him.

He's not really defending Peterson. He's defending his own abusive parents, and himself in the future, should he find a woman foolish enough to procreate with him, because he's made it very clear he intends to abuse any kids he has.

Well if you don't like the way AP discipline his kids do you want to take them in and raise them and spend thousands of dollars a year on them?

We're back to the money again. Do you think that being wealthy enough to afford to support several children as a largely absentee father means that Peterson is allowed to beat them with impunity on the rare occasions he interacts with them?
