Welcome Eric. I hope you are the second coming of Tim Duncan.

If you are reading this forum stop. Stop now. No, really. Stop now.

So this is it ha? Are we supposed to be happy? This is the big man addition? Maybe AB's graduation snuck up on the coaching staff?

Yeah seems like the 17 class is really missing a 7ft bruising big man, am I right? The staff really should have tried to get one of those guys.

Yeah. The staff definitely deserves a participation trophy for participating in the attempt to add a ready made, skilled big.

I'm going to like next year's team better and it's not just because we will win more games. We have a borderline European-type 4 in Larrier (three point shooter but can also post up players) and almost all our guards can shoot, and now we have two beefcakes to rotate at the 5.

More likely to see Vance at the 4, at least in defense, which is where it really counts. Guarding the 4 sometimes will help mitigate his slowness.

Larrier is a highflying 3 with pretty good passing and dribbling for his height. He has very few "4" qualities other than height. He is comfortable on the perimeter, and I expect him to operate there on offense most of the time.

Our guards aren't really shooters though. Adams is ok, Vital is streaky, the knock on MAL is that he can get to the rim but isn't a great shooter and Gilbert in his brief appearances this year looked decent but pretty far from what I'd call a shooter. Vance and Larrier are probably our best deep threats, which doesn't bode well for KO's offenses that seem to function best when the league guards are lethal from 3

Vital is streaky which means he is a good shooter. He just has to practice more. Adams is solid. Not great, but solid. The other two I can't entirely speak to. But occasionally Jackson will go to the 2 if we go big with Larrier at the 3 so it will work out nicely then.

Jalen was the only person on the team who could break down a defender and get to the hole. Gilbert and MAL will do that in spades. And Larrier should be the best ISO scorer. Going from Jalen being the only capable ball handler to potentially the 3rd best on the roster will do wonders for shot creation, even if neither of Alterique or MAL are knockdown shooters. Heady breakdown guards are just what the doctor ordered. I think the season will come down to rebounding. Hopefully Cobb and Diarra help there.

In Oldens top 3. He is announcing Friday.

How much of a chance do you think we have? I see a spot for him, but With 4 guards already on the roster, you've gotta think that all we've got going for us is the Ollie factor.

He's got a nice offer list though. KU Uconn and a couple other p5s. That juco shooting percentage might be more a result of the crazy juco style than anything, who knows. Coaches are obviously seeing something to work with

They're is definitely a spot. He'd instantly be the best shooter on the team

Is this the level that our recruiting has become?

Just sayin.......

I mean he spoke very highly about Ollie and Ollie and killings made the trip out to see him play . However he was just at UNLV a couple days ago for the second time and is announcing Friday so don't be surprised if he ends up there. Also think TCU is ahead of UConn.

You're right. I just mean, when a kid looks at the roster he's not going to see a ton of PT. Sure hope he ends up here though

It's probably not realistic but would love to add that Russian Egor on rice as grad transfer. 47% from 3 this year

He's exactly the type of guy we need - like 2 time NCAA Champion Niels Giffey.

Yuat Alok. I can already spell his name and an article on his from his native country states that he is 21cm taller than Michael Jordan so you know he's good.

Don't get @Fishy excitement for Cobb. Watched 1/2 of game and came away thinking people will hammer KO on this.

I watched 2 possessions and thought the same. We can use someone with a little edge, I couldn't take watching Cincy get 3 offensive rebounds a possession on Sunday. We need an enforcer!

A few things this team has been missing the last few years are interior toughness and a role player who can roll up his sleeves and get down and dirty on the defense end and be able to move the ball to the right people at the right time on offense. Unlike our offense now that is simply 3 guys on the perimeter passing the ball back and forth to each other looking for a any opening to try a one on one move. How many times to you remember the ball being swung around to a waiting open shooter? Never - every shot we take is contested, and because our rebounding sucks we can't even use our athleticism to get some easy fast break buckets. I might put CV in this category, but he takes way too many forced shots and lacks the acumen I'm talking about, but I do think he will be a major plus for this program the next 3 years and will improve greatly in that span.
