Early Coaching Hotseat Edition

That's not happening. After losing Suarez to TCU and a senior or grad student to lack of eligibility, I thought they'd be beyond mediocre. In fact, the young squad was tenacious and were competitive. Really hard to beat at home.

So, I think she's beyond safe. The only possible place she goes in the foreseeable future is across the bay to her alma mater, Stanford, if Coach Paye continues to have a hard go of it in upcoming seasons.
Charmin Smith would probably find coaching (and recruiting) at Stanford easier than coaching at Cal.

I get your point about a singular, seemingly "out of nowhere" win or loss, but that's not the case with -- or my argument for -- Coach Mittie. In fact, he's averaged nearly 60% wins over his career at KSU, so I think he's been pretty darn consistent. The win over TT is a very solid one over a ranked team, which shows they can rise to the occasion in a pressurized situation.
Mittie's seat isn't even warm at this point. I don't care for his style, but he is considered a very solid coach. He lost a lot of the team from last year, including Lee, which affected the style of play (or so the Arizona coach said on her radio show).

There is no strong reason to think the ship won't be righted.

The same thing, incidentally, applies to FSU, so far as I know.

Hey...I'm with you. Mittie's team just beat Okla. State by one to become the lowest-seeded team ever (#12) to get to the semifinals.
