I get the sense that we are supposed to be learning a lesson through him.I can't wait for Nate to get put in his place sometime in these next few episodes. He's become a real d bag
Pretty weak episode this week IMO. Not bad, but feels like treading water.
Nate issue is definitely not solved, the episode ended with him going into the boot room and attacking Will again about the jersey. Was off camera so up to the imagination if it was a verbal or physical attack, but I suspect Ted is about to handle thatI think they thought the Ted therapy was the highlight, but it was a bit overdone. Then the whole thing with Nate's hero complex. Definitely not the best, but I think it's a set up episode for Ted's real therapy and Sam and Rebecca. Nate issue seems solved, I hope. Keely/Roy solved, and I did enjoy Jamie explaining how he needed to give his teammate space...then Roy realizing he's wrong as a coach and a partner to Keeley. Karma, and best part of the episode.

I think the Nate issue is going to take a darker turn before it gets solved. And there will be some sort of hubris/social media lesson in there.Nate issue is definitely not solved, the episode ended with him going into the boot room and attacking Will again about the jersey. Yes. Also, she has a weird mouth and moves it weirdly sidewise as if she were in a 1940s cartoon.Poppy is kinda cute.

Jason Sudeikis said this season would be like The Empire Strikes Back.
I think Nate got a taste and he will become an antagonist if there is a such thing on this show.
So far they have done a pretty good job of mixing just enough of the feel-good stuff to keep it uplifting (e.g., the dart game) with unexpected gut-punches (e.g., the ending of the match that relegated them) to remind us that life is like that.Hopefully it's not a retread of the Jamie Tartt arc from the first season and he gets hired by another side only to come back on an opposing team in a climactic moment.
Good call. Perhaps in the meantime we'll also find out that that's what's at the root of Ted's issues.I suspect that they are going to do a fathers and sons show where Nate, Jamie and Ted (and maybe Rebecca and/or Roy) reveal that their relationships with their dads have shaped them negatively Just a guess, but there has been groundwork for it.
Abusive alcoholic father and the coping skill of pretending that everything is alright is my guess. We've seen Ted ready to crawl into a bottle when he's depressed from the Christmas show. We've seen that he's good at defecting negative comments, like being called a wanker or media criticisms. I think that they are going to use that as the underlying basis for his relentless cheerfulness and crippling panic attacks.Good call. That theory is pretty dark.
I think he still misses his wife and family and suppressing it caused an anxiety attack.
Makes the already fantastic dart scene even better. This was easily the best episode of the series so far. This will win the show awards
Adds so much weight to that darts scene, and the scene with Jamie from season 1 about how his father was always harder on himself than TedMakes the already fantastic dart scene even better.
As dark asThat theory is pretty dark.

Yep “I played darts everyday with my dad until age 16”Adds so much weight to that darts scene, and the scene with Jamie from season 1 about how his father was always harder on himself than Ted

As dark as?his dad committing suicide at age 16
Couple of quick thoughts:Yep “I played darts everyday with my dad until age 16”
Yeah I think that was my favorite episode.
It really is the Empire Strikes Back.
Couple of quick thoughts:
As if there was any doubt that they are going to explore the dark spaces this season, note the excellent use of George Harrison’s “Beware of Darkness” during the end of the scene with Jamie and his father.
Speaking of that scene, the last time I felt a punch coming so viscerally was when Prez punched Valchek in “The Wire.”
Re Ted’s father‘s suicide and the dart scene, I’m guessing we will learn at some point that “BBQ sauce” was a reference to the blood or something else from the way he died.
Rebecca and Sam is ridiculous but interesting. If the genders were reversed there is no way they are airing that now. Maybe that’s the point? I don’t know. That’s the only storyline hitting somewhat of an off note so far imo.
Is Coach Beard going to take a dark turn now?
Good episode.
Ahem!Is Coach Beard going to take a dark turn now?
