b/c women's basketball is relevant...right?

As I look at the tv coverage of various sports I find that.....

Wait a minute! What is that on ESPN? Why! It is Women's Basketball! Right there!

And....WOW! UConn Women's basketball has been broadcast....wait....let me count....

Yup! That's correct....UConn women's backetball has been broadcast an infinite amount more times this season that your small, regional, bible college's hockey team.

Oh...and you were saying something about being relevent? Ummm I would venture that UConn Women's basketball brings in more $ than all of PCU's sports, combined (excepting, perhaps, where your men's basketball team shoplifts the money that UConn brought into the Big East coffers).

Thank you for your continued interest in UConn basketball.

By the way! Can the mods move this thread to the Hockey Board?

What's that? We don't have one of those, yet.

Oh....wait....neither does PCU!

That word "relevant".....I do not think it means what Sean think it means.

In terms of Conference Realignment, no its not, but niether really is college hockey.

Sean has a point- small time baseball programs churn out first round picks all the time. Small time soccer programs lead the nation in soccer attendance and are consistent top five programs all the time. Small time field hockey programs are top three programs in the sport all the time. Small time track programs dominate indoor and outdoor conference championships all the time.

womens hoops far outweighs hockey. Few schools in the major conferences have hockey. They all have womens hoops. Womens hoops are nationally more televised than hockey, by far.
And, with a school with limited resources like Providence, will most likely get left out when the major football schools split from the NCAA. UConn is projected to be among 110 schools splitting from the NCAA over the next 5+ years PC isn't.
BTW, your knowledge of UConn football can be fitted on a pinprick. 18,000 UConn fans attended that Fiesta bowl game. 4,000 fans overpaid on the crooked Fiesta bowl plan. 14,000 smart UConn fans purchased tickets at a fraction of that cost and attended. BTW, I'll bet you also didn't know that Oklahoma returned 7,000 tickets. Fortunately, the B-12 reimbursed Okla. for their loss. The cheap BE, run by Providence people, didn't/couldn't reimburse UConn. Shortly after that game the Fiesta bowl people lost their rights to that game for unscrupulous practices. But, hey, just try to throw on our bigger than you ever will be practices.

True or false; UCONN got it's ass kicked in the Fiesta Bowl and lost millions? That's all I said. If I'm wrong, I apologize.

Decline to answer the question as it would validate "facts" clearly taken out of context.

Plus that is not all you said by mentioning your lone PC graduate in the NBA and your handful of NHL stars. This became all you said because your other points were unceremoniously invalidated by way of using proper context...

You are a fan of a bigtime BASKETBALL school. Please spare me all the football and baseball rants...we both know you aren't big time in either. Fluking your way into the ass kicking of a lifetime in a BCS bowl that actually cost your school millions doesn't make you bigtime.

Here's my original post...

As far as the money, false, sean. UConn had to return 12,000 tickets at a multi million dollar loss. But, before you go off an that money loss tangent, when bowl revenues were divided up UConn & Oklahoma made millions. The big difference is Okla. made more money because the B-12 reimbursed them for their losses. The cheap, Providence based BE, didn't reimburse UConn. BTW, the BE was the only major conference not to reimburse their schools.
As far as getting clobbered by Okla. yes, but they are light years ahead of a school like UConn who has only been playing D-1 ball for 8 years (at that time.) BTW Cincinati, the previous year, was undefeated and ranked in the top 5 at seasons end. The score in their BCS game was even more lopsided than the UC-OK game in favor of Cincy's opponent. Other than WV, few BE schools are equipped to go up against the Alabama's, Texas', Ohio State's, or Oklahoma's of the world. Few major conference programs are. That doesn't mean UConn, and others of our playing calibre, can't compete in this arena.
UConn won at Notre Dame 3 short years ago. UConn has 4 mid level bowl victories. Plus, UConn beat South Carolina by a large margin in a bowl game 3 short years ago in SEC territory.
So, true we got clobbered by Okla., but with wins over S. Car., ND, and several over Pitt, Louisville, Syracuse and a win over WV, means we ain't chopped liver, either.

Way to copy and paste. Congratulations on finding the Ctrl button on your key pad.

Your original post was 100% debunked with facts presented within their appropriate context.

you don't really think the ND that you beat was a national caliber team...they got beat by NAVY. C'mon, UCONN hoops is nasty, but the football program is a joke.

That wasn't a great ND team. But, it was on prime time NBC TV in front of 80,000 ND fans. Programs that are a joke don't do that. BTW, two other points, first, don't underestimate Navy in FB. No, they're not Alabama, but they are on a par with Pitt, MD, Syracuse etc.
Second, our "joke" of a program clobbered Steve Spurrier's team in SEC country that year. Wins this year over ACC bound Louisville & Pitt....I dunno, Sean, UConn's football program is more impressive that PC's hoops program over the past 10 years.

wrong again...PC has beat the national champsionship team 3 times...UCONN football pull that off? Here's a clue: Pitt, Cuse and MD are a joke too. You beat a 7 win SC team. Every real team has stomped you flat.

Since you are a such BIG MOUTH LOOK AT ME PC grad...how would you lnow what a joke football program is...PC doesn't even have football...what did you go to a BC game...oh wait they haven't been relevent in years! You should quit while you are ahead..you went to and root for a sub Mid-Major school who will be irrelevent shortly...no wait they already are!! Face it yoir men's hoops team has SUCKED for years and your women's team has sucked for twice that long!

Again your hoops team is a joke and a non-factor...if you want to compare PC hoops to IConn football...answer this...you make a bowl game it's like quifing for the NCAA hoops tour y...when was the last time you guys did that? You can't even compare the 2 sports...you know what's funny...my neighbor went to PC, worked for the BE conference, and now works for an NBA team...he told me Cooley was the beat they could get as a hc...and that if he wins at PC he will move on VERY quickly! he also told me PC and UConn and NOT in the same universe college athletics wise! You should think about what he said VERY closely...but then again a BIG MOUTH PUNK like you SURELY knows more than a fellow PC grad who works for a NBA team! Just sayin PUNK!

The schools that you consider to be jokes are better in that sport than Providence is in just about any sport, save cross country. (Or perhaps hockey, if you're lying to yourself.)

As Ed McMahon once said "au contrare moosebreath"!!! First UConn's FB team has made it to 5 bowls in the last 10 years. Beating a SEC team winning 7 games ain't no small feat. PC ,on the other hand, hasn't been to the big dance in over 9 years. That is the real joke.
BTW, good luck tonite vs Baylor. I understand they are suiting up Brittany Greiner!!!

64 out of 300+ teams dance. over half of D-1 football teams play in a bowl game. I'll save you the trouble of taking off your shoes to count...it's not even close to equal. Nice try though.

Secondly, I'm under no illusion that when Cooley is successful, he will get offers and will probably leave. I'm fine with it, it means he's done a good job at rebuilding. PC will find another coach...it is what it is.

My friends cousin's nephew's former roommate agrees with me....notice I didn't need to resort to namecalling or even worse for an adult...name calling in CAPS.

Maturity...party of one?

UConn football has more BE championships (in 10 years) than PC basketball (in 30 years). What does that make your bball program?

I'll never understand why the Boneyarders get worked up over this guy. It's Providence. They're irrelevant now and will continue down that path in the next 5-10 years.

It's just not worth the effort to even respond to him. I don't know why I'm even writing this.

Well how about this PUNK...
You are seriously bring in maturity into this thread after you started this whole thing by coming here and running your PUNK PC mouth? So now you are taking the high road...you have some act! So since you like to spin back and forth spin this...until PC actually wins something in hoops that matters..I'll even give you a conference championship since every one knows they have ZERO shot at a NC...(even after the 110 football playing schools leave the NCAA...you still won't even be able to make the tournament then) you should stop talking ...you have nothing to back it up with! You are a insignificant troll who roots for a insignificant school that plays at a below mid-major level! Until you win something you are just another PC fan who comes here and talks with nothing to back it up! Small catholic hoops school PUNK fans like you definitely DO NOT make me miss the BE one bit!
Oh yeah if you do ever get the chance to win a NC in hoops...you still have to win 2 more to catch us!

What percentage of Division 1 men's ice hockey teams are in the top 25?

Are you a writer for pro wrestling?

Can't both sides just admit their respective program is mediocre at best, rather than trying to one-up the other side, and move on?
