What the entire country knows about PC hoops could fit on the head of an even smaller pin. People outside some Big East schools probably don't even know PC means anything other than personal computer. You're irrelevant.

You're one of those schools that when a fan of, say, Kansas, tries to name the sixteen schools that made up the Big East until 2012, and only gets twelve right, they go online to find the other four. They go online to find that, despite no one ever remembering them playing a meaningful game in the past twenty-odd years, Providence, DePaul, Seton Hall and St. John's are, in fact, Big East schools.

The preps (and catholic private schools) are impacting CT HS hockey by dilution.

Just jumping in on this conversation. The thing that is impacting CT HS hockey is the triple A programs that are taking all the top level talent. Back in my day which was the mid-late 80's, high school hockey was producing some good talent. As more and more rinks were built in the 90's such as Cromwell, Newington, Simsbury etc.... It gave birth to the aaa hockey programs that ended up taking all the top HS prospects that are looking to go D1. Today, if you play HS hockey you won't even get a "sniff" from a D1 school. On my HS team, we put 4 kids in D1 programs, one teammate ended up being the Captain of the West Point Hockey team, I ended up at Uconn. Those jumps just don't happen very often any more. You either play triple A or you do a PG year at a prep school. A coach that is in my current program is also a Ref in CT who regularly works CT HS hockey games. He was telling me the talent is just terrible now.

My soph year at hendricken(ri) we had 3 future NHL players and didnt ri the state title bc mount had Garth Snow in net and 2 other kids that were AAs in college. Prep schools scatter the talent now.

Nope, not all or not many. NESN and NBC Sports only show abut 60-80 I believe. You have very limited chances to see UConn. You'll probably only see a handful of games, 5?

SOme are on NESN, but its basically filler content around Bruins games and Red Sox replays, ACC Sunday night basketball (Not always BC), Dennis and Callahan morning show, and NESN Daily. It'll be interesting to see if a station like MyTV9 or CPTV pick up UConn games next year.

Nothing is stopping UConn from selling the rights to televise these games, but I'm guessing that because UMass, BC and BU can't (or won't) do it, it may be tough for UConn too.

Also should mention to other posters that NESN AND NBCSports show games.

Hey Sean since you continue to run your mouth on our board why don't you educate us on why PC shut down 3 men's sports in 1999..1 of which was your VERY good baseball program...and the differenc in your total athletic budget compared to our football budget. And while you are at it please educate us as to the last time you won a NCAA men's basketball title...Enjoy your renewed status as a leech on your new/old conference!

UConn didn't go from playing Gtown to playing Tulane. They went from playing GTown to Memphis. Compare apples to apples. If you want to compare Tulane to a former conference member, use Providence.

As opposed to intentionally handicapping yourself by not considering the benefits of FBC football. A school hailing from a "basketball-only" conference without a corresponding football element has not won a Division 1 basketball national championship in 28 years. Only 3 teams have that opportunity over the next two weekends, but are 9, 13, and 15 seeds. The odds don't look so promising.

In fact, the last school to win a Division 1 basketball championship without a corresponding Div. 1A or FBS team was UConn in 1999, over 14 years ago...Albeit a 3 seed, only Marquette meets this criteria. However they still benefited from playing in the Big East, whose football schools also field more of the better basketball teams in the conference (Pitt, Cuse, UConn, Louisville, ND).

It'll be interesting to see where both conferences stand in 3-4 years, when the current recruiting cycle runs its course, and conference realignment shakes out a little more.
