No argument that keeping the BE together was the best option. It was a dominant BBall conference. As the FB schools sought "greener" pastures; the BBall schools had to look out for #1. Fiscally, no way PC could field a football program. Outside of the school stumbling onto a "T Boone", it ain't happening.

I don't have the time or the patience to break down teh affects that title 9 has on small private institutions vs. state schools. Read a book. Educate yourself.
How small is your school in comparison to say,... Rice?

I am educated...I am a fan of a "big time athletic school"... one that spends a LOT of money on their sports! I don't need a big mouth punk of some SMALL TIME runt sized catholic school with an athletic budget that doesn't even approach mid-major status on my schools board running his mouth to tell me OR educate me about college athletics! Like I said before...enjoy leeching off GTown, Nova, butler, and Marquette...you are a fan of a sub mid-major school who hasn't been relevent in years! The football schools should have split with the hoops schools in 04! If it wasn't for your fellow PC boy Tranghese trying to keep the cash flowing to the leech schools like PC and SHU it would have happened!

At least they don't have to worry about duck*ing Tulsa.

Tulsa.

We went from playing Georgetown to playing Tulsa and Tulane.

In basketball? IN ANYTHING.

What exactly is the different between Tulsa/Tulane and DePaul/Seton Hall?

Matt,

The sum total of anyone that cares about PC hoops could fit on the head of a pin.

Fixed.

Nothing. That was the point I was trying to make yesterday. We no longer play Cuse and Pitt this year, and UL (after 2014, right?) For shame, but it is what it is. But the comparatives for Gtown and Marquette are not Tulane or Tulsa. It is Memphis and Temple. The comparatives for St. Johns and PC and/or DePaul is Tulane.

Plus Aresco mentioned a couple weeks ao that because the split was realitively amicable, OOC games could most certainly be scheduled between the two conferences. Thinking along those lines, the comparison for Gtown in the Big East is Gtown in the C2bNL.

You are a fan of a bigtime BASKETBALL school. Please spare me all the football and baseball rants...we both know you aren't big time in either. Fluking your way into the ass kicking of a lifetime in a BCS bowl that actually cost your school millions doesn't make you bigtime.

The day after your pissant little bible college does anything of note (or even finishes in the top half of your conference in any sport that isn't a club sport or an intramural competition), please hurry back here, breathlessly, and share your good news with us.

I promise we will all did deep to see if we can manage to give a .

BCS Bowls cost most schools millions, even those from the Power 4.

Rant against UConn's "big time" status all you want. They had 3 baseball players drafted in the first round a couple years ago, and Mazzilli is on his way this year. They also get players to the NFL.

I saw a snipbit of the CenterStage with Calhoun this morning, who stated that nothing is more important to a college recruit than a chance to get to the NBA. Odds are, this has a better chance of continuing under a 13 year NBA veteran (back)hand(edly) picked by a Hall of Fame coach vs. over Ed Cooley. Providence College really does not offer that opportunity in the revenue generating sports.

Oh, and UConn Hockey is going HE next year. They also skated with the #2 team in the country for 55 minutes earlier this season.

Your hockey team sounds like they are really top notch.... I am guessing that some students at UNH speak reverently of your success.

And did you know that UConn has a national quality indoor polo team?

Yeah, probably not. It is kind of like your hockey team in that regard. I don't think very many people really give much of a crap about those niche sports.

But mazel tov to you and those others who can only hang their hats on that kind of obscure success....

You really should spend more time on the Syracuse board, though. I hear tell they have a Helms Trophy (whatever that is) that they're real proud of, too...

You folks should have lots in common.

Oh....and I did promise that when you fetched back here some tale of sport success that your bible college has enjoyed (no matter how meaningless or obscure) that I would try to give a .

So....here goes......

........................................................................................... And.................

Nope! Sorry! Still can't find even a molecule of give a to lavish on your success...

Sorry to disappoint you.

But, thank you for your continued interest in UConn basketball.... You are invited to continue to live vicariously, through our success, as long as you feel your ego requires it.

As I look at the tv coverage of various sports I find that.....

Wait a minute! What is that on ESPN? Why! It is Women's Basketball! Right there!

And....WOW! UConn Women's basketball has been broadcast....wait....let me count....

Yup! That's correct....UConn women's backetball has been broadcast an infinite amount more times this season that your small, regional, bible college's hockey team.

Oh...and you were saying something about being relevent? Ummm I would venture that UConn Women's basketball brings in more $ than all of PCU's sports, combined (excepting, perhaps, where your men's basketball team shoplifts the money that UConn brought into the Big East coffers).

Thank you for your continued interest in UConn basketball.

By the way! Can the mods move this thread to the Hockey Board?

What's that? We don't have one of those, yet.

Oh....wait....neither does PCU!

That word "relevant".....I do not think it means what Sean think it means.

Sean has a point- small time baseball programs churn out first round picks all the time. Small time soccer programs lead the nation in soccer attendance and are consistent top five programs all the time. Small time field hockey programs are top three programs in the sport all the time. Small time track programs dominate indoor and outdoor conference championships all the time.

womens hoops far outweighs hockey. Few schools in the major conferences have hockey. They all have womens hoops. Womens hoops are nationally more televised than hockey, by far.
And, with a school with limited resources like Providence, will most likely get left out when the major football schools split from the NCAA. UConn is projected to be among 110 schools splitting from the NCAA over the next 5+ years PC isn't.
BTW, your knowledge of UConn football can be fitted on a pinprick. 18,000 UConn fans attended that Fiesta bowl game. 4,000 fans overpaid on the crooked Fiesta bowl plan. 14,000 smart UConn fans purchased tickets at a fraction of that cost and attended. BTW, I'll bet you also didn't know that Oklahoma returned 7,000 tickets. Fortunately, the B-12 reimbursed Okla. for their loss. The cheap BE, run by Providence people, didn't/couldn't reimburse UConn. Shortly after that game the Fiesta bowl people lost their rights to that game for unscrupulous practices. But, hey, just try to throw on our bigger than you ever will be practices.

True or false; UCONN got it's ass kicked in the Fiesta Bowl and lost millions? That's all I said. If I'm wrong, I apologize.

Decline to answer the question as it would validate "facts" clearly taken out of context.

Plus that is not all you said by mentioning your lone PC graduate in the NBA and your handful of NHL stars. This became all you said because your other points were unceremoniously invalidated by way of using proper context...
