for the record, I haven't knocked UCONN athletics; just the football program. IMO, the football chase will end up hampering the bball program. The state doesn't have the resources needed to be top flight in both. Focus on what you are already excellent at.

I've said a few time before...
A basketball team associated with a conference that does not also support FBS or Div. 1 football has not won a National Chamionship in over 28 years. (Villanova). A basketball team whose school also does not support a Div. 1 football program has not won a national chamionship title in 14 years (Ironically: UConn). However, the college sports landscape has changed drastically since 1999, let alone 1985. Providence College and the rest of the C7 has potentially cut off their nose to spite their face.

Second and most important: The state of Connecticut does not fund UConn's athletic program. UConn pays rent to use the XL Center and Rentschler Field.
