Honestly, just go on the CVS website and refresh every couple seconds for a minute or two. An availability in the next few days will pop up.

Right. Accelerated timeline in setting of global pandemic. Note that Accelerated Timeline doesn't equal compromise in research method integrity. It just means that "special population" data (that takes longer to recruit study subjects for) lags behind. As well as "long-term efficacy and safety" data. Thankfully, we have decades of research to show that it's exceptionally rare to see directly-attributable adverse effects from vaccines that don't happen in the immediate weeks to months post-vaccination.

Any significant protective benefits (even if only temporary) can play a pivotal role in tamping out the pandemic spread. Which is why the FDA accepted ~3-4 month efficacy and safety data in determining whether to issue the Emergency Use Authorization, with representation of important "very common" special populations (Age >65, diabetes, cardiovascular disease, obesity, etc.).

There's nothing in the realm of efficacy or safety that's emerged in the U.S. / Worldwide real-life safety & efficacy data to suggest that the decision was a bad one. Safety data is as good/better than just about all previous vaccines brought to market. Efficacy to prevent severe disease and to prevent transmission is wayyyy better than what we could have hoped.

Get them shots ASAP, Boneyarders!
 
I got second Pfizer last night. Had some arm pain overnight that is already subsiding. I'm a 63-year-old male.

At least some of the sore arm can be mitigated with positioning. If going to a drive through site, do not rest your elbow on the open window. Drop your arm into your lap keep your hand unclenched, and try to relax your arm. I have a colleague who had her patients rest their hand loosely just behind their back. Wish I could describe it better but it was very hard to tense the muscles and it worked like a charm.

Same here with Pfizer with slight soreness in the arm near the injection site.

I'm about 16 hours past second shot.

Almost feels like how you'd feel 3-4 days after getting a real good punch on your arm. Not really pain or sensitive to touch on the skin but more like a slight deep tissue knot.

In today's Hartford Courant, it was suggested that you go to your portal & pre-populate the personal & insurance information fields NOW. Then, tomorrow at 8 a.m. you just click NEXT, & vaccination sites pop up with appointment availablity.
I used the Hartford Healthcare my chart site for my vaccinations. It's a lot easier & MUCH less of a headache than signing up through VAMS.
 
I am very offended by like 23 things in this thread and will ban everyone.

Day after, arm hurts, head hurts, everything hurts, but manageable.

Still pretty sure the vaccine is pure poison, but everyone should get it because why should the government only be allowed to track me?

Also, if I am abducted by the CIA for speaking out, please remember that a toddler can make a lobster roll and you should stop fetishizing stupid foods.

My wife works at Charlotte Hungerford in Torrington. They have a list of pre-registered patients (or they did) to call in just such cases to avoid unused doses being thrown away.
My personal thought is that, with the opening up to ages 16 & over tomorrow, there will be a glut of vaccinations. Check with the vaccination site of your choice to get on the call list, but remember to cancel your original vaccination appointment after getting vaccinated to allow others the opportunity to get vaccinated.

I went ahead and booked through CVS for Saturday. No sense in waiting for tomorrow; keep refreshing and you will get an appointment.

My understanding of the trials in children is they're more looking at safety. The cohort here was ~1,500 per group I believe? There's already a lot of evidence that the mRNA vaccines work, so I think these will look more to show if it's safe to use.

If approved for 12+ that's another big step in the right direction. The vague "herd immunity" thresholds can be reached without <12.

I personally wanted the non-dominant arm both times. New vaccine (rushed) so if some adverse side affect happened I'd still have my right arm.

The arm for me wasn't the problem, it was my reaction to the shot. Put me down for half a day (1st shot) and a full day (2nd shot). The arm healed in 24 hours.

If you are registered on VAMS you can save/print a pdf of your certificate. You can email it, print it and save it. I downloaded it to the cloud. The hard copy is in my desk, awaiting booster details before I laminate it.

Also by going to the web-link on VAMS the ctf can be recalled (on phone) if necessary to prove vaccination.

That's the advantage of a vaccine.

90% efficacy for preventing symptomatic infection is not 100% so I don't understand why this would be in the news.

Right, we just have to wait for the rolling updates on the trial participants for extension of the real numerical data on duration of protection. No apparent drop-off in numbers from 3-4 months to 6 months, so this is very encouraging, IMHO for useful protection out to at least a year. But only time will tell.
