This is insane. Either the guy wants to be a head coach or he is happy being a coordinator. If he's happy as a coordinator, then we are better off without him. Unless you think they'll name him head Coach, and I don't since they are Texas and will want a proven big name. What ever Narduzzi is he ain't a proven big name.

Being a coordinator at Texas is the smart move for him, if they pay him say $1.2m. He can sit on that for at least 5 years until he gets his sweet $3m job at a top flight school.

. Brown NOT retiring according to Feldman. Bloody freaking insane this stuff.

Bruce Feldman ✔ @BFeldmanCBS
#Texas source tells CBS "Mack (Brown) hasn't had any meeting & has not told anyone he's stepping down."
yeah... then immediately after that comes these tweets...

@footballscoop
Its important to read these "denials" word for word b/c they are crafted carefully. All UT & Mack are saying is he hasn't told anyone yet

@slmandel
Just remember how Texas/DeLoss Dodds vehemently shot down @ChipBrownOB's Sept. report the AD was stepping down and then he did just that.

I think you go for the sure thing and immediate money though -- not too many chances to be a head coach. If he has 3 good years at UConn, he'll be getting his $3m somewhere else and would have pocketed $6m in the interim.

My guess is that Texas will make a run at Saban and if he says no, they'll take a run at urban Meyer. Bama might do that, if Saban leaves. I'm skeptical that they'll go after Dantonio, but even if they do and he goes, I'm not convinced it hurts us that much. We don't get Narduzzi, who I really do think Warde covets, we'll end up with Lembo who I actually think is a better choice anyway.

Jimbo Fisher will be a hot name for the Texas job

That assumes that whoever gets the Texas job succeeds, and if its Saban he probably will. But USC has taken a step back. And they are USC. Michigan has, so the idea that he could take a step back at least in perception if Texas struggles for a while isn't crazy. And by some reports, Texas has not been landing the Texas level recruits. Last year they were out recruited by A&M in the state and Oklahoma in the Big 12. So it could take a season or two to return to real prominence.

What top flight school is hiring a 52 year old head coach with no experience in that capacity for $3 Million, especially factoring in an age related decline and discounting for time value of money (i.e. $3 million is worth more now than it will be in 2018)? I think it was said above, Becoming DC at Texas is the Bud Foster path. Not saying he can't be happy, but if Coach Narduzzi has head coaching aspirations, he probably needs to push a heater out now or get off the pot.

I don't know what the to do with the timetable now.
we're probably going to be working with the dry erase instead of the sharpie for a few days...

So based on all the reports thus far, please anyone correct me if I'm wrong:

Warde's Number 1 seems to be Narduzzi
Lembo 2

Do we have anyone else? Haven't heard Diaco rumored at all today.

RE: Saban
Mrs. Saban, several months ago, was seen in Austin looking at real estate, according to a friend on mine who is a huge Alabama booster. Many at Alabama figured he is on his way to Austin. Time will tell.

Herman was mentioned as well. Then we go to Weist, and then fall into the Ambrose zone.

Anyone still on the Weist train?
I hate to say it, I was on the Weist train and now I'm off it. I like TJW a lot, and I really like what he was able to do down the stretch. But this is a coaching decision that will literally decide whether or not we get out of the purgatory that is the AAC. We need someone more proven at a higher level, someone who will fix us up as a resume builder for their higher aspirations.

If we're a stepping stone, I wanna be a stepping stone for the next coach of a top program.

Time will surely tell - She recently told the WSJ otherwise: > Recent media reports have suggested Saban may be interested in coaching at Texas if that job comes available. Some reports said Terry Saban had been house hunting in Austin. Asked if these reports were accurate, Terry Saban called them "rumors with absolutely no foundation." "We're staying," she said. "We're not going anywhere."<<

Now we all know that it's a women's prerogative to change her mind.:rolleyes:

Looks like there is not an agreement with Mack Brown to step down at Texas after all.

When reached by text moments ago, Brown refuted the story to Horns247.

"I haven't seen (the) article," Brown wrote.

"I'm in Florida recruiting. If I had decided to step down I sure wouldn't be killing myself down here. I have not decided to step down."

This should help give UConn and Warde the time he needs to finalize things with Narduzzi, IF that's the direction he wants to head in!

Edit: for some reason the name of the source will not appear when entered, so I've added it below at the asterisk

I'm still doing the Lembo...but I've been a Lembo guy since P was ousted. ruskin's probably the last holdout for Weist.

Don't forget Baylor's Art Briles. The Washington Redskins are considering him.

I love this.

I hate this.
