Let's change the subject.....these were UConns uniforms in 1958...the blue and gold.

None of them are allowed to go home. Do you not have any idea how college football works? Yeah USF is going to have players scattered all over the state and not prepare for Illinois. Your argument is ridiculous.

I've lived through a bunch of hurricanes. Of course I'd get on a plane to Connecticut if I was just going to be in a dorm hundreds of miles away otherwise. This isn't 50 inches of rain and they aren't first responders.

OK, that clarifies your point for me and I get what you're saying. I guess my point is, if those are the rules USF Football is laying out right now, I would no longer be on the team. Can you respect that analogy so we can put this to bed? And at what college did you play football to learn so much about the sport's inner workings?

It's not just about the players. The coaches, staff, and everyone else involved in making away trips happen deserves the same consideration. None of the coaches or support staff are staying in dorms.

Maybe the conference got involved to protect USF from being upset, but the most rational decision is they made the prudent decision to give those able to get out time to get out. Or time to prepare.

As of Tuesday my family in Orlando were struggling to find food, gas, and plywood.

I think they could/should have made it happen tomorrow, but I don't have all the info. It's disappointing

Saying this is on the conference because someone was scared that the 17.5 point favorites would lose?

That's a reach.

I honestly think this is more about the Illinois game than it is a fear that USF loses to UConn.

BTW in the schedules I have seen IIlinois is @ USF on Friday.

I'm sure USF is considering canceling this game too so as not to distract from the recovery efforts.#sarcasm
Good call....USF is home vs Illinois. I had it in my had that they were away.

Well I guess we'll see on Monday how many guys quit the team to see if you are an outlier. Spoiler alert: zero.

Don't twist my words friend. I said I'd quit if USF made me fly to Connecticut when I could easily get home. You're a clown if you think USF has locked their players on campus so they can't be with their families if possible. OR, brought those families to the safety of the USF campus. And you never answered my questions.

Did you look at the roster!? They have five players that are not from Florida. FIVE. And if you can't wrap your head around the fact that the majority of the in state players are doing everything in their power to get "home" then you're right, it's not worth discussing. Lock down my ass. Many of these kids live within 45 minutes of campus. Again, if that was you, would you fly to Connecticut? I'm open to your theory, but answer me that question.

They are college football players on scholarship - they will be on campus practicing for Illinois.

Friday night on ESPN. Non conference game. You would think the importance of the conference game would be first and foremost. In hindsight the game should have been moved to Friday night. Moving it up 1.5 hours did nothing.

Stay safe Florida.

You have no clue how D-1 college sports work.

You're still thinking of this in terms of the game instead of real life. Set aside the sports conspiracy theories and realize many of these players can get home to their families with a single tank of gas or the gas already in their cars. If you were on campus in Tampa would you fly to Connecticut knowing you could somehow get to your family? At the very least, cancelling the game lets these kids evacuate, by whatever means necessary, with their parents and siblings by their side.

Check out the roster and tell me if I "made up the options" for the majority of these kids.

USF Athletics

If I'm a parent and my kid has the ability to get the hell out of Florida or the Southeast in general, I am urging them to get the hell away from the storm. The highways are bumper to bumper with people trying to evacuate the state. The kids aren't driving home. If anything they'll be evacuating north like the rest of the state's residents. I'd slap the s*** out of my kid if he had a golden ticket away from the mess headed for Florida right now and burned it for mummy and daddy. Having said that, cancelling the game may be the responsible decision. It may be a lame duck excuse. I think there are merits to either side of the argument. I can't say I'm super broken up over it and I understand the decision, but the "kids need to be home with their families" argument just seems to fall completely flat.

I actually think they should have to forfeit the game. No reason that they couldn't show up in CT.

I agree the league office failed to enforce any standards - sets a very bad precedence .

LOL you edited your post - every analogy is dopey so no I don't respect any of them.

Do you know there is less gravity on the moon than on Earth? When did you walk on the moon?

Sure, the Bulls are all headed south as we speak. They siphoned gas from a lawn mower they spotted unattended. They are going to save dozens of their families lives and restore power to their hometowns with just aluminum foil and chiclets.

It's a hurricane hundreds of miles inland - it isn't the ten minutes before a nuclear bomb explodes. You can stop with the drama. The Bulls will all be tucked safely in their beds dreaming of Lovie Smith.

This isn't even newsworthy here. No one knows the game was even cancelled and cares less if it's forfeit. UConn and USF grad here.

This is a rare and extreme situation. I don't see a problem granting their request not to play this game. There are many consideratons people here aren't even aware of (Regarding Family matters for their staff & players). It's only one football game. Hope everybody down there turns out OK after the storm rolls through.

All schools in the state of Florida are closed Friday and Monday by order of Gov. Scott.

Wants every school available as evacuees shelter or staging area.

If there is any silver lining, it gives an extra week for our guys who are banged up to heal up for Virginia next weekend. I like the idea of Joseph's shoulder getting another week to heal up. Hoping everybody in the storm's path stays safe over the next few days.
