Could be nothing, but my son is friends with a person connected with the WBB program who said there are Big 12 rumblings again. We've been down this road so many times, I am highly skeptical, but just passing along what I heard...
@UCMB88 did you hear about this prior to the Zanetto podcast?

That @UCMB88 post was a diamond in the rough! They posted it on August 14 and the Zanetto locked on pod was the late evening of August 19/early AM of August 20 (my google alert pushed it to me at 2:20am). Boom!

The power of the Yard, I'm sure we could influence the upcoming Presidential election if we cared to

A self fufilling prophecy.. Maybe
The reality is this could happen as the financials are now doable
The thing that always doomed us was we simply didn’t make sense as a ROI.
The thing‘s that changed is the New Big East Contract on a network with less viewers , as the second banana conference . That contract overall worth is really heavily weighted to the top end schools .
Plus the rise of women’s basketball with a following whose bigger games rival most men’s team
If I were looking at UConn from the B1G or B12. where our basketball value would easily be in the $20,000,000 areas taking a gamble on the rebirth of football is less risky as it’s a throw in .
If we got 1/3 share in the B1G
or 3/4 of the Big 12 is game on
We come with very little downside risk
I’m not predicting anything but the case I could make if I were consulting a conference is much stronger than a year ago . Since money and the Networks call the shots who knows

Everybody should just keep talking about it like it's a done deal. Maybe we can collectively speak it into existence.

I didn't hear anything about a B12 move. But there's a lot of buzz about a move to the B1G. You heard it there first.

UConn FB won't join until 2031?? There will be a P2 by that point....sucks but I'll take the massive influx in cash. Maybe there will be some sort of scheduling arrangement on the meantime.
The point in adding us is so they can't go P2 unless they ditch basketball. No one will watch a tournament that doesn't include Kansas and UConn

I've been on sabbatical....

Bottom line - big time college hoops is going to be monetized. Why should the NCAA keep the lion's share of $1.1b+ generated by March Madness each year? UConn is as big as anyone in college hoops. Once, that happens, we'll find a place at the table. I can tell you the subsidized dregs in the P-4 are trembling. There are many that aren't good at anything - Syracuse, BC, etc.

No tears will be shed for the chronic under achievers in conferences that only make money because of other schools success. UConn is going to get there the old fashioned way - hard work and the success that comes with it!

I hope this is how Yormark sells it to the Big12 Presidents.
