It's not true? Sounds like denial to me. It's in motion, and we all know it's bound to happen. Does anyone here think the B1G and SEC won't get their way?
Utah supports their college football teams.Utah has a smaller population than CT. Another place with multiple teams set for the future.
It doesn't help that when word got out that the Big 12 was considering us, there were a bunch of articles and comments from supposed UConn fans about how we wouldn't want to go to the Big 12 and should hang out with a bunch of small private basketball schools instead.Utah has a smaller population than CT. I don’t know how much to make of the 99 year clause. But that is clearly NOT what made it difficult for Texas and Oklahoma to leave. They were still locked into a GOR for three more years. After negotiations and a bit of money, they were able to get out a year early. In 2012, the Big 12 conference incorporated a “99-year blood oath contract” for each member. In short, this contract was made to keep teams bound together as part of the conference for the long run. This deal doesn’t necessarily lock teams in permanently, but it does make it extremely difficult to leave.
For example, Texas and Oklahoma announced their plans to leave the Big 12 for the SEC in 2021. After three years of court cases, contract negotiations, buyouts and trials, these schools have finally been cleared to join a new conference. It didn’t come free, however, as it cost an estimated $100 million for each university to buy out of the dreaded 99-year blood oath.
The University of Utah avoided this contract when signing with its new conference. The genius negotiations by U President Taylor Randall and staff negated an exit fee requirement if and when the Utes are ready to move on from the Big 12. This is a luxury that only Utah has in the newly formed conference, allowing them to easily leave for the Big 10, SEC, ACC or elsewhere in the future. Utah has a comfortable new home in the Big 12, but can likely play themselves into a superior conference over time.

Even a State Congressional representative was opposed to the Big 12 and commented pro Big East. Very bad look from small minded congressman. It doesn't help that when word got out that the Big 12 was considering us, there were a bunch of articles and comments from supposed UConn fans about how we wouldn't want to go to the Big 12 and should hang out with a bunch of small private basketball schools instead.
Demographics have changed.Utah has a smaller population than CT. Another place with multiple teams set for the future.
We've never seem to be at a loss for rumblings, and yet lightning never seems to strike.Could be nothing, but my son is friends with a person connected with the WBB program who said there are Big 12 rumblings again. We've been down this road so many times, I am highly skeptical, but just passing along what I heard...
He's like a one-man SEC shorts show. ^_^Since we were discussing Utes in one of the tweets threads, I checked out their message board. CR is truly driving everyone crazy. So for some comic relief, the OSU guy at 2:40 is good

I heard that at this point it's closer to a buzz than a rumbling. We've never seem to be at a loss for rumblings, and yet lightning never seems to strike.
Thanks for passing along what you heard!
I really hope that you all get that invite. I hope the Big12 isn’t “rumbling” to out pressure on the ACC schools to push for a settlement saying there are only so many spots available. If UConn gets one, that’s one less for an ACC school to grab. You are more deserving of that spot than 3/4 of the ACC.The rumblings have been going on for two months. The problem is that no one would expand with a school like UConn right this moment. There may be some bigger fish available from a football perspective (FSU, Clemson, UNC, UVA, Miami, NCST).
Adding us would be sensible if the B12 is trying to fire a kill shot at the ACC, but that’s about the only reason to take us right now.
Heard it from a friend whoI heard that at this point it's closer to a buzz than a rumbling.
