Holy cow. A freshman. Geno offered a freshman. Have we ever seen that before? Me likey.
It’s a whole new WBB world out there and if you think a kid is the real deal you have to be able to pull the trigger early. And I’m here for it, go bold or go home.

Notice who 'liked' Olivia's offer?

rainejenica!

I'd make a small wager that this is Jenica Raine Lewis.
Also a high school frosh...an elite guard from Iowa...ELITE!
BTW: she has mentioned her favorite college...UConn.

It would not be a bad start to 2026 recruiting if we are lucky enough to land
both of these players...a one year lapover with Jana/KK/Ashley/Qadence.

Darriana Alexander (2025 | West Virginia Thunder 17U)

The 6-1 wing forward played up two age classes for the reigning GUAA champions. She’s back and still dominating on another really good Thunder team this season. Alexander is a terrific athlete (how many other players get alley oops run for them on the inbounds play?) and can score in the post, finishing through contact inside with both hands. HoopGurlz No. 5 player in the Class of 2025 also has some guard skills, pushing the ball in transition and initiating offense from the point. On the defensive end she came up with a couple of swats as well.

Zakiyah Johnson (2025 | West Virginia Thunder 17U)

Johnson, a 6-foot guard/wing, is the No. 2 player in the Hoop Gurlz 2025 rankings. She and Alexander are the lone holdovers from the GUAA championship squad. You won’t find many other players listed as a “guard” who rebound like her, crashing the class on both ends. On the offensive end, she’s another versatile player with size and guard skills who is able to impact the game in multiple ways. She was tough inside Friday, earning a couple of trips to the line.

Jasmine Davidson (2025 | Northwest Select GUAA 17U)

The No. 1 prospect in the 2025 class according to ESPN’s HoopGurlz rankings, Davidson didn’t disappoint in two strong showings for Northwest Select, though her team lost in overtime both times. The 6-1 wing is the definition of a two-way player: she’s absolutely brutal defensively, with terrific effort and energy, her arms and legs always moving, her long wingspan making passing lanes difficult. Offensively, the slashing wing is smooth as they come, the lefty loving to use a turnaround jumper in the mid-range, but she’s got a nice stroke on catch-and-shoot 3s. She’s got her pick of colleges, and a world of promise ahead.

For those people that think HS rankings are really important, this kid is a good example of how much attention a top coach like Auriemma pays to them. ESPN's extensive research has them thinking that there are 16 guards in the 2025 class better than Skinner. She's not even in their top 25. Laughable. IMO, there isn't 16 in the '24 and '25 classes combined better than her. And if it's because they haven't seen her or know who she is, that's on them and shows how unreliable their listings can be. The smartest programs find these types of players on their own with their eyes and their own sources.
