If this team was 27-6 we would have sold the place out or come close. People lose interest when the team loses.
And therein Whaler's point is proven.

The fans don't support it. Not sure why. Tickets aren't crazy priced, dense population within 60-90 minutes of the venues.
Mostly AAC. The AAC is a bad conference. The basketball is awful. UConn plays such ugly basketball. Terrible offensive team and offensive players. Hopefully we see some excitement next year with MAL, AG, TL and a healthy JA.
Yes, we knew this in December. We're beating a dead horse with attendance threads. And therein Whaler's point is proven.
Do threads on the Boneyard require a thought process?
I don't think there are legitimate excuses that we can only draw about 7k people to a conference semifinal played at home.
I often read how great our fanbase is and how many diehards we have here. Just pointed out some evidence to the contrary.
Why don't you go ask the thought process on threads complaining about referees? Maybe they will change the calls based on those.
You are beating a dead horse
Many of us are old school fans and go back to the Old Field House
I've been there since 1965 w/season tickets
I don't know Mau personally but if you have been following here for years, as I have, you know he bleeds true blue, like I do and tons of others
These days of HD TV and as we get older with families and other obligations - it gets harder to get to games. I give my son 1/2 my tickets
I have been a Friend of Soccer since inception in the 70's and religiously since the field ran counter to where it now lies and had no bleachers.I was a founder of the "North Goal Group"
You know how many of my season tickets to soccer I used this past season? 3. But that doesn't make me any less of a fan
This thread really is kind of wierd
We're talking about a conference tournament were all schools were given ticket allotments and with the AAC distant issues and UConn being down - you could see this attendance issue a mile away
Did you watch some of the other conference tourneys? There were a lot of ghost towns out there
You can be disappointed but there is a reality out there.
The fans sure didn't show up this year - When Gampel is 1/2 full you know attendance is an issue
Vivid seat had $38 tickets at noon yesterdayThe cheapest I saw on those sites yesterday morning was about 50 bucks.
Remember those ECAC tourney well. Me and cousin Pete making our way to see the Rhode Island game at the Providence Civic Center. And many of us were always at the Providence CC for those ECAC tournament runs too - thanks for the support T. I am close enough to get there so I am tough on myself but again, family and other things come first and trade offs are huge as you get older and care about others. Wish I was there and the Meriden boys were calling just had to stay put.
By the way I'm usually a big impact on the refs so I know 3 guys who are really glad I didn't make it last night, especially if I was sitting next to Crack! LOL
Why would you post here if you feel that way?
23 dollars yesterday morning I saw some at.Vivid seat had $38 tickets at noon yesterday
You have it wrong. People don't want to pay money for a garbage product.23 dollars yesterday morning I saw some at.
And that doesn't even matter. We had tickets to give away the last 2 days and couldn't do THAT. If you live with 60 min of XL and you couldn't get there for a playoff game ( legit extenuating circumstances aside) shame on you and all of us.
Or let's look at December , I put 2 extra tickets that I was GIVING away for the north Florida game ( or whoever the heck they were) with seats were you could literally touch KO from. Offered them on this message board. One person took one. Nobody wanted the other.
People may not want to hear it, but whalers right here. We suck.
We are such a spoiled " event " fan base. We had no problem spending 1000 bucks to get to msg on a Monday in December. But 30 dollar tickets to a playoff game at home and people can't be bothered.
Spoiled rotten rich front running brats. We are a sucky fan base.
You have it wrong. People don't want to pay money for a garbage product.

So UConn basketball is a garbage product but you spend time here talking about it.
Makes sense.

Why did 10000 plus UConn fans show up at msg in December if it is a garbage product?
It is amazing that everyone's energy level went up 500% because they beat a bad Houston team on Friday after struggling against an abysmal USF one on Thurs.
Play @ Mohegan. Problem solved. Can get 6-8k every game and will look great on TV. And kids will have a blast hanging at Casino for a few days.
Maybe they should move to MSG. Then we could get more than 6,500 fans for a highly ranked rival. You can spend $200 to go there instead of $15 to go to the XL Center - it all makes perfect sense.
Yes because I'm a fan of the team. That makes sense to me. If you don't think attendance is based off of wins, losses, and quality of play then I don't know what to tell you.So UConn basketball is a garbage product but you spend time here talking about it.

I'm intrigued here. You think we play good basketball?Lol garbage product . Pathetic comment.
You want it to REALLY be a garbage product? keep no showing.

Name me one school in the country with a losing record that sells out or comes close. Not everyone is on your level of fanhood - we get it. You made that clear. But there's no reason to call out fans for not going. People can do what they want with their money. Let them give excuses - leave it at that.
I'm intrigued here. You think we play good basketball?
You think team performance will go down if people stop showing up?
How many games have you been to where you have affected the outcome?
Answer my first question, this is separate of recruiting. I don't want to change the subject yet.Are you serious?
Do we complain about recruiting here?
We want high level recruits . Do you think high level recruits want to play in front of nobody? They don't.

Northeast basketball is suffering and he claims it to be "dying" because Syracuse and Pittsburgh actively behind closed doors conspired to kill it, and succeeded.I think the main point being made here is that we have a multiple page thread ripping Shaugnessy (spelling?) for saying nobody cares about college basketball in the Northeast, yet we also had around 8k fans in attendance at 50% capacity for a do or die tournament game against a ranked opponent that could be considered our most consistent rival.
I think Shaugnessy's point is overblown a bit, but who's to say he didn't tune in yesterday and draw that conclusion?
I also tend to agree that had this been a bigger tournament (i.e. Big East or ACC) the place would have been packed, but since we're not in that position, we don't have that luxury.
Everyone knows AAC is a death knell for our programs but after 4 years, I'm just shocked at how much we've already gone down in terms of support only three seasons removed from a title.
I have the P5 dream, but I wonder how much more we can sustain this league for basketball specifically.
I wonder if there is anyway to do a ND-lite deal with the ACC to even out their hoops league at 16 and get maybe 4 ACC games a season for football....
