2025 WNBA Regular Season

Seattle was up 20 early in Q4. Chicago got within 6. Game is still going. The huge homer Seattle announcer has declared a made shot the final dagger about 3 shots in a row, but Chicago just won't quit.

Okay, now it's over. Some UConn on UConn violence as Gabby poked the ball away from Nurse on a critical turnover.

Minnesota had a chance to sweep New York tonight and send a strong message the rest of the season for the rest of the league. The starters for the Lynx, minus Courtney, just did not have it going. I gotta give our bench their props!! 38 points from the bench!? Well done, Maria, Nathisha, and DiJonai.

I want to put out some positivity towards Angel Reese after watching that attempted comeback by the Sky.

The way she’s played this season when available is a desperately needed bright spot for the unfortunate Sky. She is the emotional leader of the team, has improved as a playmaker and, not trying to be mean, but her motor is so much more consistent than Cardoso’s. People can laugh about the “mebounds” but Reese is a beast on the boards I can never look at that in a negative light!

Also, Malonga is going to be VERY good in a couple seasons. She already is good but it’s going to eventually get scary!

Atlanta and Vegas going down to the wire, with big seeding implications on the line. Battle for #2 is gonna be quite a fight. 2-5 should be interesting.

Great night of basketball. Even though my beloved Minnesota squad lost, it still was a great night of hoops. Watching Las Vegas, who are on an 8-game winning streak, was pretty nice. Coach Hammon has the team clicking now. Even though Golden State lost, they (and Washington Mystic, who also lost) are still fun to watch. Seeing Vernoica Burton having a great season, is just a joy. Great seeing players, that many wrote off for being "this or that", playing well is a great bonus. All about right fit and Ms. Burton has found the right fit in Golden State.

Same. My mind has been on post seasons awards lately and I'm sorry for spamming y'all with my thoughts. This is where my gut is at the moment:

MVP: A'ja Wilson
DPOY: Alanna Smith or Napheesa Collier
6th Woman: Naz Hillmon
MIP: Veronica Burton
ROY: Sonia Citron (Better defense than Bueckers with about equal offensive output)

All-WNBA First Team:
A'ja Wilson
Napheesa Collier
Alyssa Thomas
Kelcey Mitchell
Allisha Gray

All-WNBA Second Team:
Kelsey Plum
Sabrina Ionescu
Veronica Burton
Bri Jones
Aaliyah Boston

Honorable Mentions: Nneka Ogwumike, Sonia Citron, Alanna Smith, Gabby Williams, Dearica Hamby, Jackie Young

Collier better get back on the court if she wants that MVP. Wilson is absolutely crushing it down the stretch.

NY/Atl tied for 2nd, LV and Phoenix 1/2 game behind. Hold on, wild finish coming up.
HUGE game in Vegas tomorrow on Prime. The real question is who will end up 2 and 3rd and avoid Minnesota? Atlanta with the easy schedule seems to have one of those spots so who gets the other? A lot depends upon Stewie. If she returns in time and fits in then I think Phoenix and Vegas end up 4/5 fighting for the privilege of losing to the Lynx.

This shows the depth and quality of the W - Gabby as an honorable mention.

I admit I am incredibly biased, being a huge UConn and Paige fan, but it seems to me that you're selling Paige very short. Not only does she lead the rookies in scoring, assists, and steals, but she is also top ten in the league in all of those categories, which none of the other guards on your list are (nor, I believe, is any other guard in the league).

Here are the statistical leaders through last night's games, according to ESPN:

Kelsey Plum is 3rd in scoring
Kelsey Mitchell is 4th
Sabrina is 5th
Paige is 6th
Allisha is 7th
Jackie is 11th
Soni is 17th
Burton is 32nd

Kelsey Plum is 3rd in assists
Sab is 5th
Burton is 7th
Paige is 8th
Jackie is 11th
Allisha is 16th
Mitchell is 22nd
Soni is 38th

Paige is 4th in steals
Sab is 12th
Jackie is 15th
Kelsey P. is 19th
Allisha is 25th
Soni is 27th
Burton is 29th
Mitchell is 45th

I think Soni is a tremendous player, and I realize it's become a popular narrative, especially since Slim was traded to Seattle, that she should be ROY, but neither the numbers nor the eye test support it. (In addition to the rankings above, the other stats show that Soni averages 4.3 rebounds a game and Paige 4.1; Paige averages 0.5 blocks a game and Sonia 0.3; and Paige averages 2.1 TOs per game and Soni 1.8, so it's not like Soni is blowing Paige away in the other categories.) And Paige has had to carry a heavier load as a first option on a worse team.

I know that basketball is not only about statistics, and that statistics don't tell the whole story, but I respectfully disagree that Paige isn't the clear ROTY.
