2025 WNBA Regular Season

How did Vegas get this bad this fast? It's stunning. Is Gray pretty much done? Is it age, or did she never really recover from that foot injury that took her out at the end of their second Championship run? She's certainly never been the same since, and it's almost 2 years now. One good game notwithstanding, I feel justified in saying Bell is simply not a WNBA starter caliber player. Of course neither was Stokes, and that went on for quite a while.

Kayla McBride went off today! 8 straight made 3-point shots! Her, Phee, Shepard, Hiedeman were huge today. Just every shot went in. I think in the first half, the Lynx shot 60% from the field and an outstanding 70% from 3-point range. Shooting like that, it is a wrap. The downside of this game, we were up 30 and at one point 40 points, Phee should have been resting on the bench. No point for her to be out there. Would that have prevented her injury? Who knows. But when you are up 30 plus, in the 3rd, it does not look good when your best player. Your key player goes down with an injury. You gotta sit your key player(s). I just hope that Napheesa is okay and nothing too serious where a little rest and some days off helps.

Minnesota beats Vegas by 53. Phee goes out with a foot injury late in the 3rd while her team was up by 43 points. Leaving any of your starters out there with a 40+ point lead is a questionable decision by Reeve. This was such an avoidable injury. No reason to keep your stars in the game in a 44 game season with a brutal travel schedule and minimal days where you're not playing, traveling, or recovering for a game. Give your starters a rest when you can. I hope the injury isn't severe.
And, if I saw correctly, Diamond Miller didn't play -- coach's decision? Or was that an incorrect listing by the WNBA boxscore? In any case, I agree that no starters should've been in there....heck, Hammon took hers out before Minnesota did!

Sun Rumored To Be Sold, Moved to Boston for 2027 Season
Reported by ESPN (see link), this move would have to be approved by the WNBA Board of Governors (teams just can't move themselves). The potential buyer is a minority owner of the Celtics and he has agreed to spend an additional $100 million for a practice facility.

Yeah. Diamond did not play today. Not sure what is going on with that situation.

I hope it goes through. The Sun need a makeover.

If I were the Vegas organization, with everyone basically being a free agent this off-season I would clean house. I would try to keep both Wilson and Young, and then build a brand new team around them.

Posted this prior to my coastal getaway: I'd very much look into a new front office and would have some serious talks with Coach Hammon about how she'd run a different kind of team. She coached a team with a core at their individual and/or collective peak: What about a new, crew? Is she right for that?

Need to start looking at hammon. She may not be the coach that people think she it.

I will say, I've been so, so impressed with Natalie Nakase that even if Becky is still a good coach, losing her and Ty in the same season is a lot. Coach Nat relies on her assistant coaches a ton for scouting and player development and multiple players have spoken about how much they've helped the team improve, so by extension, one can only assume Becky is also deep in a coaching staff rebuild.

That said, I have not been impressed with either Becky's on-court decisions or her off-court handling of this season, but if either Jackie and A'ja want to play in front of 18,000 adoring fans every home game, they know where to find us during free agency, so I can't complain too much about that.... =D

Vegas's defense today on K-Mac when she was 7-7 from 3pt and had just nailed back to back threes on the last two possessions.

Uh...why mess with team chemistry when they are already the best team in the league by a wide margin at this point? Also, maybe Reeve can reign her in, but the Lynx really don't need Carrington's eye gouging, hair pulling brand of basketball added to their team.
Just seems like an odd move to bring in Carrington. Like you said, the Lynx has great team chemistry right now. You can see it on the court and on the bench. I have season tickets and I sit across from the team. For the most part, this is the best I have seen in team chemistry since 2015-16 range. This is an odd move and Coach Reeve is an acquired taste. I do not see this working out or lasting long. We shall see though.

I think it is a solid long-term move for the Wings and short-term move for the Lynx.

It gives the Wings more youth/height at guard, and possibly moves Miller into a starting role in place of Quinerly, giving them more defensive length and a good mid-range shooter.

On the other hand, the Lynx are trying to win a championship this year and so I see the trade as a good move to get more versatility in the guard depth off the bench during the playoffs. I think Carrington essentially will be replacing Kosu's minutes. They're also probably thinking about matchups with other title contenders like New York, since that seems the most likely opponent, and I see Carrington being a good option against a majority of their guards like Ionescu or Johannes.

I see your point. Also they get to unload an expensive unproductive veteran in McCowan. This probably doesn't bode well for Quinnerly, as you say.

Length I can see, but Quinerly may be a better ball handler than Miller at this moment. It will be interesting to see how Miller is utilized once she arrives in Dallas.

Reeve managed to make Courtney a professional, I'm sure she can do great things with Carrington too. Carrington is probably the perfect available player for the Lynx to make a championship run. She fills a McBride/Carlton back up spot since she has size and can play defense. Miller just hasn't been able to do that.

so my POV is some subs were in the game and maybe cheryl was trying to get some actual GT experience for subs with starters... also players bodies are used to 25-30-35+ mpg and want to maintain that... and/or maybe phee didn't want to come out.

Carrington will be getting more than Kosu's minutes... she will be getting diamonds minutes, kosus minutes karlies minutes from earlier this season... and giving bridget more of a break each game. i think the teams she has been on the last 2 seasons prove she is a legit 6poy vs. end of bench player.

Same sentiments here. Even if Miller wasn’t working out, Carrington is not the player you bring in:
-Big personality that could disrupt team chemistry
-Not a good 3pt shooter, and the 3 ball is a staple of Minnesota’s offense.
-Isn’t a good passer and doesn’t prioritizes ball movement. Turns the ball over a lot. (Minn is first in the league in assists and A/TO ratio).
-Primarily scores on attacks to the basket which isn’t and has never been a staple in Reeve’s offense

Minnesota also has the best continuity of anyone in the league. Their top 7 scorers were all on the team last year (aside from Shepard who was injured but had played her entire career in Minn) and they have GREAT chemistry. Bringing in Dijonai means you’re bringing in a player good enough to command a rotation spot that will undoubtedly affect team chemistry. Minnesota has been the clear cut best team in the league due to their chemistry. Why on earth are you doing anything to mess with that in the 2nd half of the season?
