2025 Transfer Portal - UConn Interest Only

Can someone provide an update on where we are with a backup big in the portal? Reed and Riebe are great, but I think we’ve proven the value of great depth at the 5. What’s the latest?

Fwiw he is really very unathletic. Less than AK. That's my only concern. The rest of his game is impressive

I watched his College Basketball Scouting video last night and thought he looked great. I actually texted a buddy saying he doesn't look athletic in terms of jumping/explosiveness, but he has amazing hand-eye coordination and body control.

Hand-eye coordination doesn't help you move your feet on defense. The staff evaluates 100s of players. I'm sure they see potential for him to thrive in our defensive system if we're closing in on him. No concerns on my part.

I find this fantasy guys are sitting around waiting on Alex’s decision to enter the portal really funny. It’s been 3 weeks, these guys are not waiting on a player at another program to decide if he’s leaving.

Unless we’ve been tampering with certain players or there’s a surprise last second entry, this is the portal crop for this session. So we better hope Alex is coming back, or we have the contingency in place that’s already in the portal.

He’s a big strong body - not a lean gazelle. I’ll take it.

I haven't seen anything but backup PG and some forwards we contacted. I'm sure we will look for a Center after that. Maybe they are thinking if Alex leaves they can by with person who can cover PF-C and then add another versatile forward like the guy from Washington State. I have no idea.

Mullins and Stew both starting is looking more likely with every day that passes….We all think Stew is going to start. And Mullins is Hurleys highest rated recruit ever, higher than McNeeley and Castle, so him starting shouldn’t be a surprise either. Maybe that was the plan all along if AK goes pro.

Nice breakdown. One glaring gap is a power forward, 6’8 or 6’9, 230 to 250lbs. There is no one like that on this roster.

Yeah Alex or a replacement PF is still ideal, but it’s possible that a transfer PG (Smith) is the only missing piece of the puzzle. Just grab a couple developmental depth guys to get to 12.

Mullins is not playing 20 minutes on that roster

I am concerned we don’t have a dominant rebounder and defender near the defensive glass. Running into physical teams like Houston would be a problem. I’d like a J’wan Roberts, Ja’Vier Francis or Tugler type all Houston guys. Interesting if you check out their whole roster even their guards are tall and muscular.

Still don't know Alex's decision and Alex and and Stew are very close in size. 1" and 10lbs difference. Still early enough to pick up another forward.

I’d argue Reed is a dominant rebounder and Reibe is a legit 7 footer. We have great size at C but I agree we’d be on the smaller size at PF between Stew and Ross.
