2025 Transfer Portal - UConn Interest Only

He needs to get a medical waiver which they say is doubtful in the podcast.
SI screenshot his socials this afternoon where he says "Never wearing another college jersey. 13 in purple and white forever."

FWIW, Richmond Times Dispatch this morning.

UConn's Nowell, Oregon's Tracey to visit VCU

According to sources, UConn rising sophomore guard Ahmad Nowell is scheduled to visit VCU on Monday, and Oregon senior guard / forward Jadrian Tracey is scheduled to visit on Tuesday.
Going to an A10 program makes a lot of sense for the kid but does allude to the fact his HS rating wasn’t reflective.

Trying to understand our needs at this point. We were lacking in the point guard area and #2 guard spot behind Solo players that could handle, get to the rim and then the line. We are 1/2 there right? Mullins and Silas. 2 more to go, 1 point guard and a backup to Solo even if Alex comes back? In which case we need 3 more players?

Yeah I think we need 3 more players, backup PG, starting wing, and a 4/5 combo to be the 3rd string C. That would put the roster at 12 which seems like the number Hurley has targeted in the past
Is the starting wing the potential AK replacement? If so why not a starting PF? If we bring in a starting wing that means Stew is the starting PF but then we don’t have a solid backup for him. We’d need someone better than a 3rd string 4/5.

I think we already have the starting wing between Stewart and Mullins. I think if Karban doesn’t come back we will get a one for one replacement skillset wise but maybe more athletic. Then the third player will be a 3rd string Center similar to Singare. I agree on the backup PG who I think will be Smith.

I'm hoping the starting wing just ends up being Karaban and not a Karaban replacement, but yes. In my hypothetical that wing is a 3/4 so him and Stewart covering the minutes at the 4 spot.

I just think Stewart's best position is the 4 so if we have a chance to maximize his minutes there it makes sense. Not at the expense of the best talent though

I think the confusion came from calling karaban a wing rather than a forward or stretch 4

I think his best position is is the 3 and he hasn't had sufficient opportunity to play the. He slimmed down coming out of high school for his freshman season and that unleash more slashing athletic bounciness to attack the rim than the undersized 4 who took advantage of his extra weight to bully high schoolers in the bounce.

Next breakout is J Stew filling up the score sheet as a 3.

Karaban comes back to play the 4 or we bring in a player to fill that role.

This would work. He and stew would be interchangeable at both F spots.
I agree. Have to wonder what this means for Karaban, considering the 3/4 next year is either Stewart/Karaban or (Mullins/Transfer)/Stewart.

I’m not counting on him back and haven’t been all season, but I’d still love one more year of Alex.

Strong disagree there, with Karaban here he's been playing the 3 for the majority of his minutes. I still want Karaban back though

I understand the disagreement. He's played the 3 and shown flashes. In hoping we see consistency and confidence moving forward.

This guy was no where on my radar as I didn’t see much Wazzu, but this guy is a dude with some great numbers. 6’6”, 234. He shot 54.4% from the floor and 42% from 3. He went out with a 22/8/5 with 3 steals against Gtown in the Crown. His biggest issue was turnovers but if that’s cleaned up this kid could be a beast. Me likey.

He can really hoop. Passes the eye test and his stats back it up. Versatile player. Scores at the rim and from three with good percentages. Attacks his defender off the dribble. 25% assist rate. Would probably mean Stewart plays the 4 and as @auror mentioned is likely the contingency plan for AK. Reminds me a little of Tyrese Martin; same height, built a little different. The perimeter around Reed Jr would be looking TOUGH and versatile, with 3 freshman McDAA’s coming off the bench.
