2025 Transfer Portal - UConn Interest Only

We arent playing 10 guys
Over the course of the regular season why not? We’ve played 9 what’s one more? Then cut to 8 for the BET. Florida, Auburn, Duke, Bama all played 10 guys maybe they’re onto something.

Mullins is not playing 20 minutes on that roster
Ok you can give him 5 of Furphys mins but others are adamant Furphy isnt coming all the way from Tasmania to barely play or not be in the rotation at all

I'm all for hoping we add more to the roster, but I can't believe a UConn fan could watch the last 26 years of basketball and think we couldn't have a shot at a title based on this current roster. Even if it stopped there, we'd still have a shot.

I voiced the same comments 400 posts ago and got flak from a number of folks here. We know what we need at this point for roster construction except for AK status. There comes a point where it’s s*** of get off the pot. We have to move forward.
You got flak cause you have no true concept of how this works. Hurley and Karaban are taking regularly. If Hurley doesn't have an issue, then you shouldn't have an issue.

Every year you make the lineup projections with 10. Every year, un games that matter, we play 8 or 9. That's just how Hurley's style works.

Texas Tech is going crazy with NIL. Good for him
Under McCasland, Texas Tech has become one of my favorite high-majors. Loved him at UNT and I wish him success at Lubbock.

That being said, happy for Watts too. Perfect fit and while TT needs to flesh out their depth, their starting five is really damn good.

Most wouldn't have said Florida was a championship caliber roster in November. Started the reason unranked, I believe. Kansas has been preseason number 1 the last two seasons for that matter.

It’s not a championship roster. You can’t lose Alex & just do nothing to replace him. If Alex goes to the NBA, they have to find someone who can come in and immediately be an all conference level type player. That’s a huge hole to fill.

Alex had a very up and down season this year. It is a hole especially the "coach on the court" thing" but it is fillable.

I’m not saying it’s not doable to fill, just saying you can’t take him off the roster, then not replace it, and then suggest it’s a roster that can win a title. Alex provides so much to this team, he is hard to replace because of his experience, leadership, IQ. Down season and he was an all conference player, I’ll take that.

I remember these same grids last preseason - and they looked the same, and will likewise be totally inaccurate. Save yourself the minutes guesses and just wait to see how it all plays out. We are definitely not going 10 deep when it matters.
I like when people predict point totals and it shows that we’re going to average 117 points a game.

At the moment we replace him with Stewart - but that doesn’t happen in a bubble. The hope is Solo and Reed get better and we are improved at the 2 and 5, Demary upgrades us at the 1, and Mullins is potentially an upgrade on post-injury McNeeley.

We would still need another piece to play the 4 and/or 5. We got away without a backup 4 two years ago (Jackson would basically play the 4 when Alex sat) - but Sanogo was more savvy about avoiding foul trouble than Tarris has been so far.

I will say this again-if Stewart is starting, we are not winning the whole thing. He's a sixth man, not a starter, on a title team.

What? Based on what? Do you think Stewart came back to not start? He is fine but I would hope he starts at SF and we find a PF in the portal. I do think we need to get another athletic forward to pair with him to stat but I believe Stewart will be starting the year as of our forwards and with more aggressiveness on scoring I can see him being a Championship player.

That’s not good enough to win a title. Look at the teams that have won it the past 5 years, they’ve been stacked with talent. Everyone keeps pointing to UConn 22-23 but that team had at least 5 NBA players on it, likely 6 with Alex. If Alex is gone, they have to replace that with a top level talent, no way around that if they want to actually make a run at this. You’d basically be getting worse at 2 positions if you’re filling Stewart for Alex directly. Hopefully Alex is back, but if not, they will have to figure out how to find someone ready to play at an all conference level at that spot.

Tarris Reed as a junior = Adama as a sophomore. He just hadn't had enough good coaching to make the leap to star. His per-40 stats are quite similar to Adama's sophomore season... Reed had a much better offensive rating, %s, more blocks and more rebounds, and more assists... but fouled more and had a little bit less effective DRTG. He's probably a bit ahead of sophomore Adama.

I think every statistical indication is there (plus the eye test) that Reed is poised to make a MASSIVE leap. The difference between his sophomore season at UM and junior season in Storrs is already staggering. Tarris Reed Jr. College Stats | College Basketball at Sports-Reference.com... He's ready to become a championship-caliber center.

Sanogo per-40 sophomore:

20.2 PPG
12.1 RPG
1.4 APG

3.2 TO
1.2 STL
2.6 BLK
4.0 PF

51% FG

VS.

Reed

19.3 PPG
14.6 RPG

2.4 TO

3.2 BLK
5.5 PF

57% FG

The personnel will dictate. Definitely played 9-10 in hurley first title run. Clingan, alleye, hassan , joey. Who am i missing

Every year posters project a player based on what they've already seen from that player and then every season there are players who improve and take a big leap. I'm sure at this time last season you weren't sold on Solo Ball being the starting 2 guard and averaging almost 15 ppg.

Our roster today is not winning a championship, but luckily it's April 13 and we're going to add 3+ more pieces. Our roster today is also better than all but a handful of teams, so it's not crazy to think we're a championship caliber team
