7 batters: 2 doubles, one out, 4 free 90s. A chance to really open it up now, but at least get me the 4th Matt D.

Top 1st, Padilla double (outfielder almost caught it) puts runners on 2nd and 3rd with no outs. Simmons walks to load the bases with 1 out. Double play ends the inning. 3-0 UConn.

Said it before, but my key to the game for UConn is to get some quality innings out of the starter Ian Cooke.

UConn gets 3 runs but Stanford gets a boost by getting out of the jam. We need a shut down inning here.

Ugh, really bad end to the inning. Morton swings at ball 4, Simmons gets the walk to load the bases, and Donlan hits into the the double play. Should have been a 5 or 6 run inning, had to get the one run across for a 4 run inning.

Potential great start turned into a really good one. O.K. we gave Ian a bit of room to relax and already blew through their first pitcher. One pitch at a time. And no free 90s -- make them beat us.

Fair enough, and maybe it's a few guys that help with that high walk total. However, we do have a few guys that swing at a lot of pitches out of the zone (i.e. Morton/Donlan) who I would like to see a little more patient.
There's my case in point on both Morton and Donlan. Morton pops up on a 3-1 pitch that would have been ball 4. Donlan grounds into DP on pitch well out of strike zone. Need to be more disciplined. Should have been a lot bigger inning.

Bottom 1st, a Dana error on a leadoff single puts a Stanford runner at 2B. A 1 out sac fly makes the score 3-1. A walk followed by an rbi double makes the score 3-2 with 2 outs.

Damn. Way to let them right back in it.
