Cooke was an opener? I'm curious if Penders saw something and didn't want to take any chances.

I'm at work trying to pick up what's happening from the play by play. How did Huber not score from second on a double?

It was a "double". Fly ball that dropped out of the LF's glove

Gotta say, this Stanford crowd is light years more tolerable than Maryland. Not only was Run DMV kid insufferable, but the crowd booed everything that wasn’t a strike for their pitchers. Much more laid back crowd here.

They’re smarter too!

Bottom 2nd, Coe with a scoreless inning with the aid of a double play. Coe leaves 1 runner on base after an inning ending strikeout. Stefanoni warming in the bullpen. Add him to the possible multiple inning list along with Coe and Kirby.

I don't understand pulling Cooke there. I assume there is a plan for the 9 innings but now I'm not sure what it is unless it relies heavily on Enzo.

Good inning by Coe. But given his pitch count from Saturday, I'd be surprised if you can count on him for more than one more.

A surprise to me as well. But guess the coaches figured Cooke didn't have it today. Cooke did throw 31 pitches that inning, which certainly is not a good sign.

Top 3rd, UConn with 2 runners on base with 1 out. Donlan with a 2 out walk to load the bases, but they are all left on base. 3-2 UConn.

Let's talk innings. Cooke only getting 1 inning changes everything. Coming in, there were only 6 pitchers I'd want to see in (other than a lefty on lefty one batter cameo): Cooke, Enzo, Sully, Coe, Kirby and Willis. Afthim is your emergency.

If Coe gets us the third, and then goes, that leaves 4 pitchers to get me six innings. Obviously, Enzo can get you as many of those innings as you need, if his slower stuff is getting people out. Just something to keep an eye on.

Three at bats, and we've left the bases juiced twice. (Although in fairness, we also have the bases loaded three run double.)

Technically only once.. the double play in the first means only 2 of them count as left on base.
