I would presume it is harder to find another transfer who is willing come off the bench. Most people who transfer want starter minutes.

Our rotation likely seems to be Newton, Hawkins, Jackson, Karaban, and Sanogo.
PC just brought in locke and carter and they cant both start along with Bynum and Breed. if they can do it so can we.

I thought he was a done deal to Michigan??
There are reportedly some snags re admission to Michigan.

The same snags re going to Illinois have again reportedly been resolved.

Shannon was an honors student in HS so it's not likely academics. But some universities are reluctant to award a degree if you don't have the majority of credits from them.

Sorry if old news…

Probably not getting him but here is some info on his offensive game for those interested:

29% of his shot attempts come off of Spot-up opportunities and attacking closeouts. 25% come from receiving a ball screen, 20% in transition, 7% in isolation, and so on. Basically he fits in a Tyrese Martin role where he's not great off of a ball screen or an isolation, but can be very dangerous in transition and kick-outs.

Off topic but what site is this? Seems really useful.

He's done but there's another CT kid Primo Spears who averaged 12.7 per game his first year at Duquesne. I don't think he is in the portal but he's a very confident player, good athlete especially when it comes to body control, and can create his own shot. Would be a nice bench piece.

He was in 7th-grade the one year I coached middle school basketball. Kicked the bejeezus out of my team.

I like him a lot, I watched some Duquesne games this year just to watch him. His shooting percentage wasn't good but he's ridiculously quick and is a pure scorer who makes things happen. I was curious if he would enter the portal and now he has. He lit it up at the end of the season. UConn should be talking to him.

You're probably right, but the reason people think we have a chance is that UConn was in his top 10
Yeah I get that, but a top 10 is pretty meaningless unless he took a visit or we went out to watch him play a lot which doesn't seem to be the case. I think Spears is an interesting alternative to take a flier on.

We were all over him coming out of high school. The staff better be all over him again, Luke Murray was his primary recruiter when Louisville was recruiting him.
Do we think a very good PG like this, with 3 years of eligibility, is compatible with Castle/Newton? Because I'm not seeing that really. Not that we wouldn't want him, but that he'd be looking to start. If Castle reclasses, that would be 3 guys expecting to start at one position.

I don't expect him to come here because he'll have a ton of options, but yes. All 3 would be capable of playing the 1 or 2 and could get 25+ minutes easily. Unless the staff thinks Newton is a 2 year player, then I could see the logjam you mention next year

Well you've also got Hawkins needing minutes at the 2. I simply don't think he will find the prospect appealing. He will have options where he's the clear #1 PG.

Hawkins will be getting the majority of his minutes at the 3. And that's whether the guard we bring in is Hunter or someone else

Yeah I don't really get it. We have 5 open scholarships and it seems like some people think we're set at basically every position. We have a ton of minutes to offer guards
People don't want to get hurt again. Can't be betrayed by transfers out from not getting enough minutes if everyone is playing 30 minutes a night.
