2019 Recruiting Thread

M. Beaudry, #TheCanadianCannon , grew up in Disney World-ville and studied, graduated and played football on the Redneck Riviera, but he's originally from the Great White North's bread basket, Saskatchewan.

Thoughts on our chances with Kenny Logan, raykwon Anderson, and Dominick Mazzoti? Landing 2 out of the 3 would be amazing and huge boost to the class

This has probably been asked before but I am going to ask again. Is there a recruiting service that takes into account grad transfers into its rankings? We have 4 so far out of our 17 recruits which pins us down in the rankings on 247, ESPN, and Rivals.

I know rankings don't matter in the grand scheme...just gives you more of a warm and fuzzy when your team isn't in the bottom 120 recruiting classes.

When you're considered irrelevant in rankings (not consistently in the top 50-75 in terms of recruiting don't expect them to update much about what your program is doing

Just a reminder - we have entered a dead period for football recruiting this week starting today and ending thursday at midnight. Thereafter, we are in the quiet period until April 13th. During the quiet period recruits can receive calls and texts and visit the campus on unofficial visits (ie prospect pays rather than the school paying for visit). However, during the quiet period a school cannot visit a player off campus (this is intended to give a player a break from in person recruiting).

I hope we have so many positive surprises Wednesday that we wont have to spend time pondering how to fill open slots during the quiet period.

How does is that? leading up to the second national signing day.

Wow!! this is so cool!!! this is the guy who quarterbacked against my alma mater in the championship game of 2017. He looked good (even though they lost). Threw some nice passes and was bitten by his wide receivers dropping passes he threw. Welcome aboard Mike!!!

Ugh. We really crapped the bed during the second signing period. I thought we were finally ramping up for a strong class. Not sure how we're supposed to get better when we continue to miss on top targets.

Plunge right into your fetal position.

Who knows … we see the UNC commit state that UCONN is his top choice. While Anderson looked great … WE don't know how he places on our board with several others circling the same type of role. Kenny Logan - Ardell Brown - etc.

This isn't as easy to peg as a basketball loss of a big guy to Pitt or Georgetown.

You simply don't know … and we aren't passed WEDNESDAY yet.

You gonna write another unintelligible string of long words and refuse to concede that you might be wrong about something?

Well prepare to be disappointed

Can they recruit a guy out of a burning building? Asking for a friend.

This one may have to do with Richardson perhaps? Or was he being recruited as a WR?

I get that but I'm just wondering if there is a scouting service out there that ranks classes to include transfers.

Also, sounds like he (Anderson) wanted to be closer to home.
Could be, plus 3 conference opponents under a few hours from Anderson's hard-by-the-FL-border, GA hometown vs 7 hour drive to Boone, NC (or at least 2 flights to maybe Asheville airport) vs 19 hour drive to/from Storrs (or, 2 flights to Bradley) ??? Doesn't appear to matter now, but it's wait-and-see until we learn who UConn signs for the same position.

probably some guy from Finland that we'll label a "sleeper"

Perhaps Malmö, or even Uranus. ;) All kidding aside, time will tell with each guy recruited and signed or not signed by UConn and other schools. As long as things begin increasingly improving on the field, the scoreboard, and the win column, hibernators or not, I don't give 2 carps where the players were born and raised.

This narrative that we have these hidden gems that are going to obscure and overwhelm all our recent misses is getting a bit old and is a little like whistling past the graveyard.
