Has Matt done his homework on this? UConn is in the running? I am skeptical we are still part of the mix for several reasons.

Why would you think EVERY offer is public?

I know there’s a generational divide here. I simply don’t believe everything is on social media. Not every kid not every family not every Offer letter. Some kid listed 80+ offers. Maybe some kids stop after 15 ... who knows

The tracking and data base is far more extensive than 10-15 years ago. I think we get the sense of this in the next 2-4 weeks when we bring PWO kids in - 5-8 I’d say.

It would be interesting to know how we stack up and whether we are trying to limit offers to players we believe we have a realistic shot at or if we are shotgunning them as many others seem to be.

I think Edsall has said in the past that he is doesn't like the concept of an uncommitable offer.

Putting aside the hideous color scheme, unless the kid grew up on Rocky Top itself, I don't know how he can play for a program that makes 400 offers for 25 spots.

Not sure why he decommitted but seem to bite him as UConn would have been done recruiting running backs if he stayed committed. Instead they took Art Thompkins who is already showing leadership on the team with younger players.

Given most freshmen ideally should be redshirted for at least 8 games, Thompkins' 1 year of availability should not impact a potential incoming player's 2019 playing time too much.

I want to like this but how can you say Krajewski and Washington showed talent? Krajewski in particular, was it his handoffs that impressed you? And Beaudry could easily be looked at as desperate move when whiffing on HS recruits. With that said, I hope you are 100 percent right.

Actually, his handoffs did impress me. They were clean, quick and smoothe. Look at all the bad handoffs the other qb’s had that led to fumbles and put points on the board for the other team. Its just as important for a qb to hand the ball off as it is to complete a pass. The fact that Krajewski handed the ball off 80% of his snaps, without one miscue, was impressive.

It's not the quality of the 16 freshmen , it's the quantity. with thousands of HS seniors available we could only draw 16 to UCONN. 4 transfers including 2 from D II is a telling story. I will not drink the coolade on the direction of the program. we have 25 ships and can only find 16 to come to UCONN not good

I'm not going to state otherwise. As really who knows. I already mentioned early in a thread (maybe this one) that we are not attractive enough right now to win recruiting battles for really good kids. To your point of quantity, the thing I think we have to remember is that this is the first year of the transfer portal. Which is essentially collegiate free agency. For a team that needs impact players now, not more scrawny freshman the Transfer Portal needs to be utilized. I would hope that this is the idea behind only taking 20 right now.
