That's not a surprise. His name was on the list of signees that didn't sign by the school after the 1st signing day. I want a real surpise.
True in the sense he wasn't a pure surprise...though Exit seemed to be the only one who brought his name up as a possibility recently from months ago. With social media being virtually omnipresent today, this was about as big a surprise as we could expect. ;)

I want to like this but how can you say Krajewski and Washington showed talent? Krajewski in particular, was it his handoffs that impressed you? And Beaudry could easily be looked at as desperate move when whiffing on HS recruits. With that said, I hope you are 100 percent right.

lol

the only reason I give you great credibility is the post-Orlovsky period.

We genuinely have not been talent rich at QB. OR … we really haven't seen the development of top College level talent at that position. I have seen enough of Krajewski and Washington to say what I did. It ain't much.

My primary point is WE had lots of options and chose Beaudry. That's true. Therefore … this is John Dunn (with Edsall's imprint) that pushed this kid ahead of others. He wasn't a pumpkin. And we really did not NEED a QB with great HS passing talent for 2019. We needed a Beaudry profile.

Yeah the guy who completed 55% of his passes at D2 and has played one full season over the last three years was definitely a top pick by the staff.

I have no idea why the hell Pudge is even saying Beaudry was chosen among many options. Any options we had chose other schools. I'm hoping for the best with the kid, and I'm glad we have another scholarship QB in the fold, but that's just flat-out wrong.

Remember when Mike Dooley said "I wasn't the first choice but I am the best choice"?

I know someone on the inside at Uconn. When asked who the biggest surprise was going to be next year he said Krajewski was going to surprise everyone. Tremendous arm as well as composure.

This pretty harsh. Beaudry, in his first season, led UWF to the Division 2 championship game in UWF's 2nd season as a football program. So, he was a redshirt freshman on a team that was playing it's second season of football and he lead them to the D2 championship game. I think that is pretty impressive.

His stats? 3215 yards, 29 TDs, 13 int, 55.1% completion rate. In his first 5 games, he completed 50% of his passes, so his completion percentage improved as his first season progressed. I think that is a pretty good freshman season.

Also, UWF's conference is no joke. Valdosta St. won the Div 2 championship in 2018, UWF was runner up in 2017, and North Alabama was runner up in 2016.

By the way, it is possible that he has 3 years of eligibility left due to his injuries.

Look, I hope he works out, but I have a very, very hard time believing that he's someone we really wanted as opposed to someone we needed to take a flyer on

No guarantees for sure with Beaudry and any of the new guys. Speaking of flyers, we all hope there’s something to the Mannings inviting him to participate and work at their QB camp. Yes, it’s readily acknowledged a few 1-AA QBs and even a Colby QB were also invited.
Manning Passing Academy counselor list for 2018 includes 10 QBs from SEC

This board has a way of making people seem like a pessimist instead of a realist.

Looking around the twitter scopes tonight, I dont see anything obviously brewing to fill our 5 remaining slots. TE would have to be a glaring priority at this point.

I’ll assume even chief recognizes how stupid that comment was. You offer 4 and 5 stars. It takes little effort. You do it for a dozen reasons. I’ll tell you what, you can come back at 11:11 tomorrow and wow us with your wizardry. You have no plan, no solution.
You have the recipe to success LOL.

Come on he didn't play in the FCIAC or the SCC only Florida football and was the first recruit to West Florida

Anybody know the story on DJ Smith? I thought he would sign somewhere.

He claimed he got an offer just a couple of days ago from San Jose state, which was his first offer since right after he recommitted from us. But he didn’t announce signing anywhere today and SJSU has no info on him signing. My guess is honestly that the offer didn’t exist and he tweeted it out to try to force another schools hand or something. My guess is juco

Damn dude their just HS kids.

Not sure why he decommitted but seem to bite him as UConn would have been done recruiting running backs if he stayed committed. Instead they took Art Thompkins who is already showing leadership on the team with younger players.

Huskymedic deserves a round of Boneyard applause for all he does to keep us abreast of the recruits we've offered! Thanks for keeping it up to date and making it interesting to open the Recruiting page.

One question. Does anyone have insights into why we've offered so many fewer players than the average for all D1 teams? I think the article someone posted about offers indicated the average is about 220.

Why would you think EVERY offer is public?

I know there’s a generational divide here. I simply don’t believe everything is on social media. Not every kid not every family not every Offer letter. Some kid listed 80+ offers. Maybe some kids stop after 15 ... who knows

The tracking and data base is far more extensive than 10-15 years ago. I think we get the sense of this in the next 2-4 weeks when we bring PWO kids in - 5-8 I’d say.

Consider me skeptical, but....

I don't know how, but the coaches need to ensure his heart is in it. I have near zero tolerance for another self-entitled Texan like a few years ago.
