2019/20 UConn Recruiting

According to a post from 11:11 yesterday on the recruiting thread on the Lady Vol web site Horston (with Jackson and Cooke) are taking official visit to Tenn next weekend.

Throwing a little more Nicole Melious here since we don't have a 2023 thread yet. She just worked out with someone familiar.

Forget about Nicole Melious for a second, she's 2023 her time will come. Believe this to be the first mention/sighting of Batouly since the season ended. She looks fit and hopefully healthy. UCONN will need her to contribute this season.

.-.
Any of those 3 ending up at Tennessee would be a sad waste of talent. Still not sure how they lure in so many top recruits with out having any success with top talent

apparently Holly took a correspondence course in hypnosis 101............it works to get them to Knoxville but it seems you can't be hypnotized to run an offense or play defense.......

Batouly says "Hey kid..............you know Duke is only great on the men's side.................might I suggest a new handle........Nicole 33 UConn".............

FYI, since the Irish and Huskies are both highly interested in three of these four prospects:

According to a summary based on a Blue & Gold article, there is an updated report on Official Visits to the ND campus (thanks to "WestsideIrish" for the input):

- Attending on September 1 (during the Michigan-ND football opener) are Aliyah Boston and 6’3” post/forward Malu Tshitenge-Mutombo from St. John’s Academy in Washington D.C.

The latter is niece of former NBA All Star Dikembe Mutombo and plays HS ball with 2021 wunderkind, Azzi Fudd. Ms. Tshitenge-Mutombo is currently rated 29th in the 2019 Hoopgurlz ratings and 51st in Prospects Nation. Her strengths (rebounding, defense, shot blocking) appear to be very similar to that of her uncle, finger-wag included.

- The Stanford game on September 29 finds Laeticia Amihere and Haley Jones visiting the ND campus.

Ah, you lose some of these....

And then you win some (Sam and Anaya in the top left-hand group picture).
We'll see what happens from these visits in September 2018.
Scheduling Haley Jones to come to a
Stanford game is pretty interesting.
And, of course, there's more than a few 2020 and 2021 prospects of interest in that pic, as well.
Stay tuned!

In most sports, schools usually like to get the last visit closest to NSD.

true but if MM is a great car saleswomen she won't let those recruits off campus without closing...........

If Boston decides on ND she will likely cancel her UConn visit.

Muffet wasn't able to properly balance her classes to get one of both of these two. Arike and Marina were both juniors, so they would have to come off the bench for two years. UConn does a good job of recruiting players that will have to ride the bench for one year , and replace the seniors by their sophomore year.

Reypl21:
Not sure what you mean by "properly balance" but my recollection of the situation is that you're spot on with Walker but Westbrook had PT opportunities:
- Evina Westbrook was looked at as a combo guard who could very well have walked into a lot of playing time as a freshman at ND. Once Ali Patberg transferred to Indiana, MM had grad transfer Lili Thompson mixing in with a guard rotation of Mabrey, Ogunbowale and Young. Mabrey might've started, but Lili was the PG when she was in. Westbrook could've played (allowing Mabrey to stay as the shooting guard/wing) and very much could've started this year or fill the Thompson role. Westbrook started all UT's games last year and led the team in assists, with Hayes coming off the bench.
- Walker was more problematic...if she played guard, she would've had to wait two years --as you pointed out--for Marine/Arike to graduate. And Jackie Young is firmly entrenched in the wing spot for now. Still, MM and Niele Ivey saw talent and decided to go after it.
- This year works well for overall team progress. PG Jordan Nixon, guards Katlyn Gilbert and Abby Prohaska and forward/center Danielle Cosgrove can all learn and get some playing time (particularly for Nixon) before challenging for extended playing time their sophomore years once Arike, Marina, Brianna Turner and Jessica Shepard all graduate.

I've been looking forward to that game..........going to try to get over there but have family coming into town at 1pm...........

Sarah Andrews PG 2020 just tweeted (@sarah_t2D) her top 12, which includes UConn. Number 4 in hoop rank espn

Like UConn, ND has put together a very comprehensive and impressionable campus visit agenda for recruits during their two day visit. Most schools want to be THE LAST program a recruit visits. UConn's "First Night" leaves an "indelible" impression to all serious recruits that attend. :)

Kid is an absolute player! She already has a "pro" body with ideal size/speed and she can do it all! The ONLY problem is getting her out of Texas.
Last UCONN PG out of Texas turned out pretty good.
I'm going to wait and see if or how much UCONN reciprocates.

that's quite interesting..............I don't remember reading about any mutual interest............. assumed she was going to stay in Texas which still may be the case.......... is this another case where a recruit listed the schools she is interested in or are these schools she has had concrete offers from? Certainly a talent right up there with the big three 2020 guards..........looks like Baylor and Texas will fight it out if she stays in state and UConn, South Carolina and Louisville will do all they can to get her to leave town.........

All I have to say to that is...wow.

Okay, a few more things. How is this the first time we're hearing a UConn connection with her, and does this mean anything in regards to UConn's pursuit of Bueckers and Van Lith?
