2019/20 UConn Recruiting

I wish I were hearing more about UConn and "Amihere. To me she looks like Gabby five inches taller. Am I missing something?
Silence might be golden and no news might be good news. IMO though don't see where UCONN would have room (minutes) for Amihere with ONO, Ezi, Boston & Baby Bruney in the same front court and I would take any of the four before Amihere. Conversely if any of these three (Ezi, Boston & Baby Bruney) decide not to come Amihere would be an outstanding fall back as would Kennedy Brown.

Tiffany Hayes is the only one that comes to mind who allegedly got and accepted a UCONN offer without ever visiting UCONN.

Didn’t Mikayla Coombs accept the verbal offer before coming to campus?

It appears so. But the UCONN staff had been recruiting her since she was in 9th grade and Shea and Geno had an in home vist with her as part of the recruiting process.

Makes sense.

The Geno trip to Massachusetts must mean UConn is in Boston's undisclosed final six.

Let's hope so. It certainly would provide excellent "fodder" this summer for us to chew on. :)

There's a rumor that Geno's in Washington tonight for Cashmere's playoff game.

Not confirmed yet but I'll keep hunting.

If true I bet it's the first time Geno has ever found himself in Yakima, WA. The SunDome! Not to be confused w/ the one in Tampa, FL.

Sadly, I don't think he's there. The entire Baylor staff is on hand though.

3/1

Cashmere struggled but advanced to the state semis with a 45-36 win.

Van Lith ended up with 23 points and 8 rebounds but it wasn't the greatest game for her.

3/1

Saylor Poffenbarger's season ends in her regional semifinal with a 2-pt loss.

Poffenbarger had 22 points, 17 rebounds, and 5 assists.

Perhaps there was something behind the rumor although I don't know how this works logistically on Saturday.

Hall of Fame women’s coach Kim Mulkey of the third-ranked Baylor Bears was joined by several assistants on the south end of the court to have a look at Cashmere sophomore Hailey Van Lith, considered one of the nation’s top prospects for the Class of 2020.

The 5-foot-8 guard, who averages 32 points a game, netted 23 in a 45-35 win over Nooksack Valley. She added eight rebounds and six assists.

Tournament officials have heard that UConn coach Geno Auriemma, who was rumored to be visiting Thursday as well to see Van Lith, may swing by on Saturday.

Samantha Brunelle's season ends in the state quarterfinals as she was held to 22 points by a freshmen defender.

3/2

Archbishop Mitty wins the CCS open title behind 20 points, 14 rebounds, 5 assists, and 4 steals from Haley Jones.

Jones' vision and passing skill on display here:

Held to 22? That is not defending.

When the player averages 30+ and has to put up a ton of shots to get those 22 it is. And William Monroe needed much more to win. They game planned to slow her down.

If Cashmere wins tonight, they will advance to the Championship game. Waiting for them is #1 seed Lynden Christian, who has won 2 of the previous 4 State Titles.

Cameron Brink injured her ankle Friday and ended up on crutches. Southridge still won and moved on to the state tournament next week.

Subjective.

Multiple people who watched the game came to the same conclusion including those paid to report on it.

.

“On defense, they expected me to guard her at all times,” Hunter said of Brunelle. “After that first stop I realized it wasn’t that hard to guard her. I could actually defend her.”

Hunter, a freshman, did it all for the Blue Devils. She played tougher than anyone in the paint, battling for defensive rebounds and grabbing offensive boards to give her team second chances to score. She played tight defense on Brunelle, forcing her into contested shots.

Brunelle still scored 22 points but had to work hard for most of them.

so does this mean Ms Brunelle is no longer on your wish list?

Not at all. but I'd sure like to know more about this "Freshmen defender" that held Brunelle in check.
