Long, detailed piece on Aliyah Boston:

In Worcester Academy’s most recent victory, 61-57, over St. Andrew’s School of Barrington, R.I., Boston had another impressive stat line – 25 points, 20 rebounds, 2 blocks and 2 assists – but it was the effortless way in which she played that was impressive.

With the score tied, 57-57, with less than a minute left to play, Boston gathered in an entry pass on the left block and wheeled into the lane and calmly swished a 6-foot, turn-around jumper that gave Worcester Academy the lead for good, 59-57. On St. Andrew’s School’s ensuing possession Boston grabbed a key rebound to limit St. Andrew’s to one shot. Back in the offensive end she pulled down an offensive rebound and passed it out to a teammate, who canned a jumper to account for the 61-57 final.

...

When asked about the college recruiting wars that are going on to procure her services, Boston just smiled.

“I’m just enjoying the process right now,” she said. “I have a list of 10 schools that I’m considering.”

Boston, who had made unofficial visits to both Louisville and the University of Connecticut, said she plans to take her official visits after this season ends. She declined to reveal the schools on her list, saying she preferred to keep it in the family for now.

“I’ve been talking to a lot of the big Division 1 schools; a lot of them have shown interest in recruiting me,” said Boston, who was surprised to hear that many people believe that she is headed to UConn. “All I can tell you is nothing has been decided yet.”

Boston said she hopes to decide on where she will continue her education by the early signing period next year. She doesn’t know if she will verbally commit to a school before the early signing period.

“Right now I’m not sure about that,” she said. “Right now I just want to go through the process and take my time because wherever I decide to go, I’m going to spend the next four years. So, I want to make sure I make the right decision.”

She said her college decision will be based on athletics as well as academics.

“Basketball is going to end at some point so I do want to have a strong academic base to fall back on,” Boston said. “That will be a very important component to it.”

Hailey looks as if she's 12, but plays as if she's 22.

I really, really want to see a backcourt of Van Lith and Bueckers in Storrs. Suzie Q and Dee 2.0
Keep in mind that DT & Sue were not the same class and either Van Lith and Bueckers would likely be pressed into the starting PG role as a freshmen. Walker will be a senior and C. Williams a Junior. I would rather have Bueckers and get Fudd in the next class for continuity.

You don't turn down a talent like Van Lith if she wants to come. Beyond that, Fudd might end up being a wing.

2020 hypothetical starters: Bueckers, Williams, Nelson-Ododa, Walker, (Brunelle/Boston)????

Bench of Coombs, Gordon, (Brunelle/Boston, Jones, Van Lith, Brink)??????

Nobody wants to face that team, and 2021 might be stronger.

I like that lineup, especially with Macbegor added. ;)

In 2020, our Smurf will be running amok and breaking ankles in the WNBA.

2001? Bueckers is class of 2020. Fudd is 2021.

Class of 2020, freshman in the 2021 season. I was responding to a proposed lineup for UConn in 2020. Bueckers won't be a freshman till the 2021 season. In 2020 she will be a HS senior. Dangerfield will be a senior in 2020.

You're a solid 20 years off on all of these.... Math teacher here says I was a college freshman in 2000.... these kids were not.

Still not correct. Bueckers is High School Class of 2020. She will be A freshmen at UCONN for the 2020-21 season.

Right. And when the records of that year are posted they will refer to it as the 2021 season. All seasons start in the previous year but they are referred to as the year in which they end. You wouldn't refer to Bueckers' senior year as her 2019 season, even though it started there. The HS class of 2020 will start play as freshmen in the fall of 2020 but their freshman season will be referred to as the 2021 season. I have no problem if you want to call it the 2020-2021 season but if you want to use one year it should be the year the season ends.

I don't care what we call it either, as long as Bueckers is on the team I am good.

Must be a basketball only thing then because everyone including ESPN talks about Da '85 Bears & the '72 Dolphins.

In pro football it has been done that way by tradition. Maybe you aren't old enough to remember but for a long long time the NFL season was over by New Years. It was the institution of the playoff system and the extension of the regular season that pushed the season into the next year. And in any case we are talking about NCAA basketball, not the NFL. It's their game and they call this season the 2018 season or the 2017-2018, nut never the 2017 season. And everyone agrees that Bueckers' last HS season is her 2000 season. Her first season at UConn will be the 2021 season. I've already stipulated that saying 2020-2021 season is considered acceptable but personally I wouldn't want to have to type that out.

Try referring to the 2002 UConn season as the 2001 season and watch the posts appear to correct you.
