2018-2019 Coaching Carousel

That contract is absurd. Mack hasn't coached, in what, 5 years? Strong replaced him followed by herman right?
3.5 million is peanuts. ACC is gonna have its own network soon so the rights fees per school are going to rise dramatically. Plus UNC is a pretty rich institution.

fair points. I more just think its crazy to bring in mack brown. Lost his way his last few years in texas and hasn't coached in a while.

UNC cemented their spot as worst hire of the offseason before 3/4 of the teams have even had a chance to hire a new coach. Impressive. Brown hasnt coached in ages and is nearly 70 years old....

Is that still true? Is there still value in your own network? And haven't we been hearing they are getting a network for years?

I thought an ACC network already existed?

I just think it’s such a bad argument to point to Nick Saban or Coach K as a way to validate bringing back a coach who is clearly past his time. Saban and Coach K are remarkable for a reason, and one can’t say that hiring old coaches is fine simply because Saban is old. Mack hasn’t coached in five years, and spent his last few years leading a pretty dreadful UT program. Even if he does fine, UNC could certainly have done better and done something that required more creativity than the lazy retread. UNC is a legit program with money and a roster that isn’t at all depleted. Fedora did a good job there, and they were probably going to be one of the better openings this year.

How does a team transition from a triple option to a different offense? Honest question. Does it take a few recruiting cycles to find better fits or do the players they have fit a different offense easily?

I assume it takes a few cycles. I found myself chuckling when the coaching replacements being floated include a few triple option coaches. It's not like GT has to remain a triple option school.

Ha. Kirby's going to be stomping on them for the next decade or more - I don't care who's coaching.

Yeah, but I want other people to stomp on them too y’know?

I also don’t want anyone in there who can recruit the state of Georgia even a little bit.

There's plenty to go around - to fill the coffers at UGA, Clemson, GT, Georgia Southern, etc. The #1 (pro-style) and #1 (dual-threat) QBs LY were 30 min apart in HS...#1 recruit in 2017 (at Stanford)...a 3* State champ runner-up playing for us...not to mention the mcdonalds all-american PG. Kids from GA will be leading the way in football and basketball / QB and PG.

Actually am kind of surprised that Brohm turned down Louisville. Must be far more difficult to win there now that the shade has been opened.

I think the Purdue BB and FB gigs are better than ville. Big 10 is better conf for FB. That's a lateral move at best.
