WNBA Thread - Post Olympics

Sky did everything they could do to lose the game and the Sun not able to take it.

JJ is obviously a great player but come playoff time the MVP needs to play like one.
 
Cambage back in the starting lineup today. No difference, Instantly 8-0 (2 3's by D). Aces starters refuse to answer the bell at the beginning of all 3 games.
 
11-0 2 minutes in. Laimbeer has to go to the bench immediately. Gotta be the earliest Plum and Hamby have entered a game all season.

Hard to believe Williams gets an assist for that. Nearly dribbled the clock out, then gives it to a big way beyond the 3 point arc w/ about a second left. Better lucky than good sometimes.
 
Turner and Hamby have been the best bigs on the floor, by a wide margin. Griner/Wilson/Cambage not doing much so far.
 
17 pts/8 reb for Turner...at the half. Raise your hand if you saw that coming.

edit--and their second leading scorer is Cunningham w/ 8 off the bench
 
Diggins-Smith has begged for a foul call on just about every possession this game. Give it a rest already.
 
What?! Phoenix has a 37-16 advantage in rebounding. That tells me Las Vegas isn't even trying.
 
Aces desperately attempting to get Wilson going, it ain't working. 2-10 shooting. Meanwhile Griner has scored 10 this quarter.
 
#5 vs. #6 in the Finals? It's about to happen.

Williams and Plum not scoring like in the first 2 games, and nobody picking up the slack. Aces absolutely suck today.
 
Fun sport watching the Aces getting T'd up all over the place. :p
 
Taurasi and Diggins-Smith are a combined 5-20 shooting (and 2-11 behind the arc), and the Merc are up 27. Think about that a little bit.

Maybe the Aces should just forfeit the series after this game? Where is the heart?

I still see the Sun pulling it out. The Sky used all their voodoo pins in this game.
 
Turner 9-14 23 pts/17 reb.

Wilson 2-14 8 pts/6 reb.

They were primarily matched up w/ each other. Turner absolutely destroyed her. It's gut check time for A'ja, going forward in this series.

Sun haven't imposed their will on this series, or controlled tempo. Sky are not intimidated by them. Sun could certainly win the next 2 games, but it is very far from a given.

As long as Cambage continued to enjoy herself on the court, that's all that matters. At times, it looked like she wanted BG's autograph :rolleyes:
 
Well, looks like it's the time for the annual question of "Does the Wilson/Cambage duo actually work?" Also, Gray's team is getting thrashed in the playoffs for the 3rd year in a row. What exactly has she been doing in the post season at this point in her career?

Or maybe Phx is a bad matchup for them and Phx is playing really good defense? Turner is a defensive beast, Nurse is as intense as it gets, Griner is an excellent stopper in the post, and Peddy is turning into quite a solid WNBA pro.

Wilson played 30 minutes and was -31, not only the worst on the team, but the worst by 9 points compared to the 2nd worst. Phx had 13 O-boards to 3 for LV, probably the biggest team in the league. Phx outrebounded LV by 58-29, a gargantuan number for a team with the size and strength of LV.

And assists were 24-12 in favor of Phx. Yes Phoenix beat the snot out of them, but that indicates way more 1 on 1 play for LV vs Phx sharing the ball. 24 assists on 35 made baskets. They are trying to be like UCONN ;):p

  • Double B (Brianna and Britany) had 28 rebounds: one less than the entire Las Vegas team.
  • Then you throw in the 41 points they scored on 50%+ shooting.
  • Ms. Hamby is, indeed, going to need some help from her starters to keep Griner and Turner from living in the paint.
  • And just think, DT and SDS will probably rebound for the next game.
  • Only question is how Cunningham is doing.
