WNBA Thread - Post Olympics

If you told me J. Jones was gonna be M.I.A. and both J. Thomas and January would be lighting it up, I probably wouldn't have believed you.

Hopefully Stevens can stay on the floor, good start to Q3.

What would it take for a reach in foul against the Sun? I've seen 3 uncalled in 2 minutes already.

6 fouls called in 24 minutes against probably the most physical team in the league. Half as many as the other team. Hmm...seems unlikely.

Steph had a point in the 1st half Thomas elbowed her in the mouth should have been reviewed, and called a flagrant. Instead Steph gets called for a foul.

Lid on the bucket for Chicago. Scoreless almost 4 1/2 minutes into Q4.

Starting the quarter w/ Sloot and Stevens on the bench was probably a really bad move. That's when the Sun took control of the game.

A. Thomas is starting to find her rhythm. J. Jones continuing to struggle.

.-.
Another O board. I think that was the nail in the coffin. Chicago just missing way too many shots to have any chance. Lead is 10 w/ 2:48 left.

Done watching this junk. Chicago w/ just a horrific 4th quarter performance. A. Thomas took over the 2nd half.

That darn Alyssa Thomas!! Her energy and intensity is off the charts! Great win by Connecticut.

If Coach Wade has half a brain, he's gotta try something different at backup PG. The offense just completely grinds to a halt every single time Evans comes in. Try Brown (she played at the end, so she's not injured), try Quigley, try Copper, try running everything thru Parker, try ANYTHING else.

Strange series. Sun guards have only provided any offense in 2 out of 8 quarters so far (+ 2 OTs). Jonquel has been pretty much absent for 5 quarters in a row (+ 2 OTs). Send out a search party for her.

.-.
Well, Mercury out to 11-2 lead. I think Plum cant get in fast enough.

Aces starters immediately dig themselves into 11-2 hole. Maybe don't wait 5 or 6 minutes to bring Plum and Hamby in? Cambage was actually the first reserve to enter the game last time.

All 5 starters have scored for Merc. Only took 3 minutes.

Come on Bill. Cambage in, but the dynamic duo still on the bench. Not the correct move.

edit--and the lead has grown

Finally. 6:10 into the game and Vegas down 10.

What the hell are the Aces doing? Merc rolling 31-15.

.-.
Okay...Phoenix probably isn't going to continue shooting 83% for the game, right?

37-20 after Q1. Griner has 16 pts/5 reb.

edit--16-19 FG 84%

Merc FINALLY miss a shot and they get the O board of course.

Even Peddy is hitting. 21-26 and 5-8 on 3's.

Vegas is actually playing decent on offense, but still getting killed.

.-.
Vegas finally gaining some momentum, then get T'd up. What happened? Announcers too busy jabbering to tell us what's going on in the game.

Lead down to 10. Phoenix can't possibly play any better than they have thus far. Although turnovers are starting to add up a bit.

Aces had a shot that could've cut it to 8 rim out. Then Phoenix went back up by 17. 7-10 from 3. Still 74% overall. This is just ludicrous.

68-52 at the half. Griner 18, Taurasi 17, SDS 13. If law of averages works Phoenix should shoot about 10% from the floor in the 2nd half.

Aces have 6 rebounds. But Phoenix hasn't missed any shots, so there have been no defensive rebounds to be grabbed.

Everything about this game is such an anomaly.

edit--also LV has only 1 TO

1 question--how did Phoenix almost lose to New York and a Seattle team missing their best player and their 2nd best player had maybe the worst game of her life?

.-.
