WNBA Playoffs Thread

If Seattle blows this one, it’s the type of loss you likely don’t come back from.

Seattle may take game 4 but I don’t think they can squeak out another in Vegas

Post game x-ray of Chelsea Gray

Wow OT got out of hand in a hurry.

I've been critical of her, but Wilson has absolutely played like an MVP 2 games in a row. Gray continues to play out of her mind. Huge bounce back game for Stokes. Williams was big off the bench, probably her best game in the playoffs so far. Young didn't score a lot, but the biggest bucket of the game to force OT. Miserable game shooting for Plum, but she did have 7 rebounds and 7 assists.

FT shooting just killed Seattle. 70% looks fine, but it's when they missed them that really hurt them. Stewie and Charles were a combined 5-10, they just can't have that.

.-.
1). Can the A'ja Wilson disappears in the play-offs chatter stop now? Didn't think that was fair considering the team is Seattle.

2). The comments made before the buzzer sounded caught my ear. I wasn't aware that Hammon had publicly said their playing style had been selfish at some points of the season. It's scary to think what may be possible if they had been more cohesive during the season.

Well, that might be me, but I've given her props for 2 monster games in a row. She was very critical of herself following the '21 playoffs, and now she's stepping up.

Outstanding level of play on both sides in the LV/SEA game. Wilson was a beast, but one of the three officials had to call the travel near the end of regulation. Even a blind man can see she traveled, not once, but twice on that move! Why?????

I usually do not watch the WNBA but I have been watching the playoffs. in particular, the Aces/STORM series. These games have been exciting, the Stewie/Aja match up reminds me of Russell/Wilt games of yesteryears, both Aja and Stewie giving all they have to win. Not sure who I want to win just want the games to be exciting.

Shame Sue's ultra clutch 3pt basket with 2+ seconds left to take a 2pt lead in regulation was extinguished. :(

I watched the last half of the 3rd Q, 4th Q and OT yesterday. Until the end of regulation it was as good a game as I’ve seen recently with both teams going back and forth. There are clutch plays and big shots all around.

Aja traveled but it was missed. The storm just ran out of gas in OT. Overall the stars played great. Gray is playing the best ball of her career right now.

I think I heard during the broadcast that Bird, Stewie and Loyd played the entire 2nd half, never got subbed out. With that in mind, probably not that surprising they didn't have much left for an extra session.

I don't think the Aces starters are getting much rest either. They have been getting a lot of playing time throughout the entire season. Maybe they are used to it compared to Seattle's starters.

That's a good point. Hamby was back but barely played. Basically Williams was the only reserve for the Aces. Okay, well never mind that.

Okay, I looked at the minutes in the box score. A'ja played all 45. Stewie and Bird 43, Loyd 41, Gray and Plum 39, Young 38, Stokes 32. Riquna played 27. Charles 29 and Gabby 24. Talbot 21 and Magbegor 18. Seattle got 45 minutes combined from their bench, Vegas 31.

Do not see how the Storm come back and nothing CT or the Sky has shown puts them in the Aces class. They play so free. Becky's fingerprints all over their team including great play calling.
Lol, more ridiculous commentary. Keep watching though, maybe you will learn something.

Genuinely asking, what is the problem with this post?

Aces may or may not win it all but I’d agree that they look like the premiere team at this point in the postseason. Becky has, by all accounts, done a great job opening up the offense to flow freely and score in bunches.

how much is going to be left tho for Vegas if they have to play 5 games vs Seattle? Meanwhile to me the Sky look fresh and relaxed and to me have not even played their basketball.

I thought I've seen comments from a few, not you specifically. I've seen it as players have their ups and downs at different points.

Considering her track record, it felt too soon for people to count her out. Maybe she hasn't dominated as much as people expect, but she didn't all out disappear from my perspective.

Just a friendly tip, folks around here don't take kindly to people peeing in other people's cheerios. If you want to put some meat on the bone of your disagreement, we're all ears. But big adjectives and backhanded insults won't get you very far in these parts.

I thought it was incredible basketball. Did A’ja travel? Maybe, but it’s not what cost Seattle the game. Had they made the free throws down the stretch it wouldn’t have mattered. The Aces curb stomped the Storm in the OT. I’m an Aces fan because of A’ja but that whole team just plays so together. They are fun to watch. Cant wait to watch the rest of the playoffs.

To say that Chicago and Connecticut are not in the same class as Vegas is Ridiculous. Defense wins Championships!! Vegas lacks depth and could easily be down in their own series. Any of the 4 remaining teams could win it all in my opinion. I like Chicago's chances personally. Stevens/Allemand/Gardener off the bench is a problem.

Seattle has a problem, Getting Tina was not a good plan. Disrupted their defense, and Tina at this stage of her career doesn't bring enough on offense, to make up for her defense, which isn't good.

There’s no maybe - she took four steps.

I hate when refs miss big calls that impact the end of games, but the Storm had three chances to put that game away and failed every time. That’s a haunting loss that teams typically struggle to come back from in a series.

Playoffs resume tonight. Would love to see each series extended to 5 games. My predictions are Chicago closes out CT. The sun just don’t look the same, and a big part of that to me is surrounding the play of Jonquel Jones and how CT uses her. And I predict the Storm bounce back and protect home court. I expect them to come out with a purpose, as this could be the last game of Bird’s career. They desperately need Loyd to play 40 full minutes of high level basketball.

Ultimately I think it will be a showdown of Vegas and Chicago in the finals. Really a toss up. Of the two I’d prefer to see Vegas get their first championship.
