WNBA Playoffs Thread

Sue has 22 assists and 1 TO in the last 2 playoff games. On the TO, she lost the ball when getting mugged and not getting the call. She's playing her very best basketball.

I wish her and Syl both had another season (or 2) in them. Both are playing very high level basketball still.

games like this is why Plum is not a superstar. She's a solid player, but to say she was in Mvp consideration was laughable.
Wilson still might be the MVP, and she was way less impactful than Plum. Not a superstar? She was second in the league in scoring, hit the second most 3s in a season ever, etc. etc.

Does anybody else play for Chicago other than Parker? The announcers ONLY want to talk about her constantly. Parker this and Parker that. If you had a drinking game every time her name was dropped you'd be drunk in 5 minutes.

Shaping up to be another close game. Just a matter of which team finds their shooting groove first. I got my money on Chicago.

They are still at or near their peaks. They aren’t coasting or over the hill one bit.

CT playing some rugged inspired defense to take an 8pt lead into 4th Q.

Got to hand it to her. Candace Parker playing really inspired ball.
First player in WNBA history 15 pts, 15 Rebounds, 5 Assists and 5 blocks but cant drain a game tying 3pt shot. Rough. Alot of subpar Chicago performances Quigley and Vandersloot were awful.

Both host teams gave up their home court advantage in Game 1. So much for that.

You think maybe her 19pts 18rbs 5as and 6 blks had something to do with it?
Except It's like that every game. You'd think she won them a Title by herself last year too. Never mind that Copper was very deservedly the MVP, and Sloot would've won it if Kahleah didn't.

Turn back the clock for Candace. She out there playing like she 26! This is going to be an exciting series. A lot of talking going on and now Chicago has to respond. Wednesday night.

Wilson pulled a disappearing act. That's starting to become a habit for her in the playoffs. Plum took some bad shots, but at least she did some scoring. I thought Vegas was gonna steal this one after getting outplayed most of the game, but Loyd was huge down the stretch. Bird's assist/TO ratio has been ridiculous the last 2 games (22/1).
Lol, you must be blind. The Storm's goal was to negate her, thus putting the emphasis on Stokes to succeed (but she missed to many chipees). Also, Wilson has to deal with the Vegas being a guard oriented O. Lastly, she will definitely win the MVP. Don't try and discredit her (12rebounds/8pts/3blk is not disappearing).

Same with Sue Bird in game 1, but both well deserving of the Flowers. Stop hating.

I looked up her stats. Her scoring has decreased significantly in the post season all but one year during her career. Not exactly what you're looking for from one of the best players in the league.

Year regular season/post season

2019 16.5/13.4
2020 20.5/20.8
2021 18.3/14.2
2022 19.5/11.0

Do the math and tell me what that tells you. It certainly isn't stepping up.

Doesn't tell me anything. Her game today certainly wasn't a "disappearing act". It was just what I stated imo. Good game plan by Storm, Stokes unfortunate.

And you called me blind! It does tell you something. She hasn't been as good in the playoffs as during the regular season. Today was just one game, but the trend is undeniable. Jackie Young has the same problem.

Don't be touchy by my sentiment. That's unfortunate for the Ace's - in your opinion (regarding Wilson/Young).

Chicago was a 1 woman show tonight, Parker did absolutely everything for Chicago tonight and got next to zero help from her teammates. 19 points, 18 boards, 6 blocks, 5 assists (should've been 8 or 9 if not for blown layups), 4 steals. Rallied the crowd, brought the team in for huddles when they were struggling....she missed the last couple of looks but Chicago would've been blown out by 25 without her contributions on both ends. Honestly one of the best games overall games I've ever seen from her, she was involved in everything all night.

Quigley and Sloot were just awful tonight, Meesseman had some good passes but missed several clean looks and didn't hit the glass. Stevens no-showed. Copper was fine but ineffective after a hot start.

Connecticut played well and controlled the tempo. Rebounding was the difference, they were plus 11 on the glass. Parker had 18 rebounds, the next highest rebounder had 4. Their frontcourt is a handful every night even if their shots aren't falling. Thomas/Bonner/Jones/Jones are long and strong and more physical than Chicago. Also, Brionna Jones is really freaking good offensively, she's quicker than she looks and is unbelievably efficient. Must win game now for Chicago in game 2. I think the Sky probably come out firing next game similar to their blowout of NY in game 2.

If she was contributing more in the scoring column in addition to this, the Storm would be a lot more comfortable.

18 points in Game 2 versus Washington and they win by double digits.

It seems there are alot of home team losses in the WNBA and it is carrying into the playoffs. Don't get me wrong, I am pulling for Seattle and CT. But that is not ideal if you want to keep fan bases happy. Any studies done on this and how it might compare to the NBA for example?

The Aces looked much better earlier in the season when Jackie Young was more assertive. After returning from her ankle injury, her play has been kinda tentative. Hammon needs to integrate her more in the office, especially when Plum’s shot isn’t falling and Wilson is the only reliable post option now that Hamby is out.

Parker was outstanding! That was one of the best games I’ve ever seen her play, and at 36 too! She literally did everything she could for the Sky, but unfortunately the rest of the team Head bang

I’ve been a huge fan of Bri Jones since her MD days! Her transformation since joining the league should be a blueprint on post players struggling to make the transition from college to the pros, even though she wasn’t exactly a slouch in college. She was an AP first team All American her senior year, but undeservedly was left off the WBCA team. Yes, I’m still a little salty about that

Seattle seems motivated, and you can’t undervalue the experienced roster they have. Bird, Stewart and Loyd have already won multiple championships together. I don’t doubt that they have a lot of trust in each other during high pressure games. Add Tina Charles to the mix and the talent is obviously there.

Vegas has a lot of young talent, some of whom will be the biggest faces in the league in this next era. Gray is the only one with true championship experience, and I see her stepping up. But Vegas will need their younger stars to do the same. After their top 4, they aren’t very deep, so no room for any to have really bad evenings.

I won’t be surprised to see any of the 4 remaining teams take the championship.
