WNBA Playoffs Thread

I think it will come out that EDD was not 100%. She looked nothing like game 1 and her movement was slow and clunky.
Give the fact the Ezi played more this game, a better defender then Tina.
The Seattle defense was better except for the long range 3's at the end of the game.

Credit to the storm for winning in 2, but I don't see how they beat Vegas.
Depends on what Vegas team shows up. They've proven to be very vulnerable at times off and on during the year. Now if Gray continues to play out of this world, they'll be tough for anybody to beat.

One thing is for sure, they used up their allotment of 3pt shots and the mystical fairy dust that let them shoot for 60+ percent from 3. ;)

I think it is all in Chelsea's hands, she plays like an all WNBA player, the ACES win . I suppose Gabby if healthy will take the first crack at defending her.

I think this is where coaching will come into play, I trust Hammon more.

Given the average concussion protocol is 2 weeks I don't think we will see her at all unfortunately.

Seattle has been looking really good to end the season; Loyd has had a rough shooting season but seemed to have found her stroke toward the end. When they can score without needing Stewart to bail them out, they are super dangerous.

The Liberty game and the Sun game are both at the same time tonight. They seem to both be on ESPN. I do not understand this programming schedule.

We got a ball game. Both teams looking sharp. Johannes gets the start instead of Dangerfield.

Ogunbowale has been upgrade to probable for Game 3. Do they really want to try to work her back into the rotation in an elimination game?

That familiar bugaboo turnovers costing NY dearly. Chicago up 12 at halftime. Sloot has been money. Parker on triple double watch. Lib COMPLETELY fell asleep on defense to give up a layup w/ a few seconds left, after getting a bucket of their own to cut it to 10.

Chicago looked out of sorts for most of Q3, but NY only shaved 2 points off the deficit. That's probably gonna cost them any chance of winning.

edit--oops, 5 quick points for Sabrina and the lead is cut to 5

Wade trying to steal a bit more rest for Sloot to start Q4, he better get her back on the floor

Sabrina dribbles the ball too much, good teams like Seattle, Washington, Las Vegas, and Chicago push the ball, and move it with passes.

NY derailed their comeback w/ some horrible shot selection. Were as close as 3, now down 11. Sloot taking control w/ assists on 3 straight buckets.

edit--4 straight assists, 13 point lead

Liberty falling off a cliff. Not pretty. Crystal with a DNP.

Game over. Quigley w/ a pair of 3s, lead has ballooned to 19. Chicago showing the veteran savvy that somehow fled the building in Game 1.

Parker and Sloot both had double doubles, Stevens was close.

Ionescu looked both great and horrible in this game. Got them back in the game, then shot them out of it.

Johannes was scintillating in Q1, then did nothing the rest of the game.

Okay @eebmg /other Liberty fans: NY HAS to do something about their roster makeup don't they? It's INSANE how many wings they are carrying. From the group of Laney/Johannes/Allen/Whitcomb/Onyenwere/Richards/Willoughby I would think you should lose at least 2 and maybe 3 of those. Maybe a few of those can be considered undersized 4s...but not really.

Chicago showed why they're the team to beat when it's all said and done. Veteran leadership, tenacious defense, depth, versatility, and very well coached.

Well the most popular prediction for WNBA agency is that Breanna Stewart will come home to NY, which obviously fixes any roster issues one has.

Given the roster and deck they were handed (many players injured throughout season, most notably Laney), I think you can say this was a successful season for NY. They went 17-22, finished 7th in the league, and stole a game from the defending champs and then stuck with them in game 3 for 31 minutes. Sabrina showed she can be the player everyone expected her to be. But I think to become a top tier team, they will need more elite talent, athleticism, and size. Getting Dolson helped, and Xu showed a ton of promise, but they need more upfront.

Meanwhile, we'll see how the rest of the playoffs go for Chicago, but I wonder if losing Game 1 will end up being exactly what they needed to get them into playoff zone.

Sky looked really good tonight. Parker was the best player on the court tonight--14/13/8 and 2 blocks with just 1 turnover and she just impacted the game in so many areas. Was huge in their 4th quarter run. Add in Sloot and the two combined for 18 assists to 3 turnovers. Everyone played well but especially Gardner off the bench wreaked havoc on Ionescu and was effective offensively when she took her chances.

NY gave a valiant effort but just ran out of gas. Not a great night for Ionescu despite some great plays and heroics. Laney played great, Johannes was hot early but disappeared...they're young but will get better with more experience.
