Men Wins Needed for a 2025 At Large Bid

I pretty much agree with this. It is interesting that last season UConn did not win any games in the Big East Tournament, but they still got an at large bid to the NCAA Tournament. Of course, something that happened last season may not necessarily happen this season, but we shall see what happens.

Current RPI ratings for the teams in the Big East Tournament.

38. UConn
39. Xavier
50. Creighton
97. St. John's

Not bad at all. While I expect that the Big East will probably be limited to 2 teams making the NCAA Tournament, I suspect it is slightly possible that 3 teams could end up getting in depending on what happens in other conference tournaments.

The top half of the Big East certainly isn’t terrible. It’s the bottom half that unfortunately drags the conference down

Pardon my ignorance, but do Providence, Marquette and DePaul not field D-1 baseball teams? The Providence website in particular makes it look like they compete in the conference and this not the case....?

Today becomes a must win. 1-1 from here is iffy. Get to the finals and I’m confident
I kind of agree. I believe that we need two more wins to lock up a bid but in all candor, shy of getting the automatic bis by winning the tournament, I won't feel comfortable about getting in.

About 12:45am in Italy, and about to fall asleep. Thx for all posts on game, greatly appreciated. I thought it was a must win today, and we got the job done. With 1 more win, I believe we would be in. But still would be a bit nervous.

Let’s get in done!!

Hah, nobody believed you when you said you might not be posting updates. We're the lucky beneficiaries of your addiction.

Don’t know how critical today is but I’ll say this — if we lose to X for the 4th time in 5 games, they will be ahead of us. And if Creighton then wins the tourney, whatever our accomplishments are we would need the Committee to take three Big East teams.

We’re not definitely in with a win and we’re not definitely out with a loss, but today is huge. Our chances of winning the tourney have been killed by Pudvar and Ellison not giving us enough innings. Any chance of winning three straight from here require Long and Finn to get us through today without having to go back to Brady and Cooke (even better is being up huge after 5 or 6 so we can throw second tier pitching after Long), but we will do whatever it takes to win today and worry about tomorrow tomorrow.

If X doesn’t win the tourney, they will finish with a whopping 9 conference losses. Their RPI is what it is - but great competition, meh results. Winning 4 out of 5 against us would be the trump card though. Hard to figure out other than winning tonight is a must. Could be that winning the tourney is a must for any of the 3 teams. All have warts the committee could identify as deal breakers - hard data and/or more subjective means and biases

Today’s point in time

CLEMSON, S.C.
1Clemson (12)
2Alabama
3Connecticut
4Bryant*

LAST FOUR IN
Xavier
Connecticut
Troy
Virginia

Bids by conference: SEC (13), ACC (10), Big 12 (8), Big Ten (3), Sun Belt (3), Big East (3)

I’m not buying Big East as 3 bid league if chaos reigns across the board.

Feels like today is essentially an NCAA tournament play-in game.

The winner of UConn-Xavier is in and the loser is looking at a long Selection Monday with a likely disappointing outcome.

While the goal is obviously a BE Championship, I wonder if Penders will play take it as an all or nothing game and go all-in with the pitching and hold nothing back for a potential BE Finals given the situation.

Based on everything I've heard from Kendrall Rogers, AaronFitt, et al, this ^^^ is 100% spot on. It is essentially a play-in game -- wouldn't be surprised if we had some guys going on crazy short rest.
