Why do you hate BC?

Thunder Chicken U? Their perceived air of superiority reeks of disingenuousness. Their treatment of former coaches (women's hoops, Skinner, among others) makes one wonder why anyone would want to work there.

Absolutely.

But here's the funny thing; out of the schools in the list above that defected, can you name even one of them that is better off today than they were with the Big East?

I can't. Yes, they're making more money, but their athletic programs have all suffered. You could make the argument that Syracuse has been the least affected of the bunch, but even they were stronger from a basketball perspective in the Big East:

Syracuse - slightly worse off or about even
BC - much worse off except for hockey which is unaffected by ACC conference
ND - unaffected in olympic sports
Louisville - slightly worse off
Pitt - MUCH worse off
WVU - (forced into the move) worse off...now the fifth best team in a conference instead of best team from football standpoint
St. John's - completely irrelevant now
Georgetown - much worse off
Villanova - perhaps the only winner. The top school in their new conference vs. the 5th best in their old one

So from all that greed, there was only one winner in the whole bunch...

Not sure I agree with this premise. Dan. Sure most of those football schools are in a much more difficult position to win their conference or get to a prestigious bowl game based on their competition, but they're still in P5 conferences, they're still benefiting financially from P5 TV deals, and they still play much stronger and more prestigious football schools than we do.

Ask yourself - if they're so bad off, then why the heck are we trying so hard to get into a power conference too?

I hated BC the day I enrolled at UConn. That hatred grew when Troy Bell flipped my buddy and I off as their bus rolled out of Gampel after they beat us. Then conference realignment happened and they will forever be the school I hate the most.

I hate them even more for preventing a real rivalry in football from ever forming. It could have been great too. But nope, they screwed that up too.

.-.
What were you and your friend doing to get flipped off by Troy Bell?

For the last time, nobody gives a crap about soccer! Go find a soccer board somewhere!

Walking to the field house. We were still wearing our UConn gear and looked up at the bus driving past and he just flipped us off. Still pisses me off

Must have been around the time they broke that 23-game losing streak to us.

"For Boston" is one of worst fight songs in the country. "UConn Husky" and "Fight on Connecticut" are two of the best.

I prefer hockey over hoops. Hoops from AAU through college is a giant cesspool.

The best thing BC has going for them is their fight song and their hockey team.

That's not the question you should be asking.

The question is: Is the new P5 reality they've created + 10 million more per year better than the old BCS six conference reality they already had in the Big East?

We want in because we are now shut out. We weren't shut out when we were in the old Big East. And nearly all of the teams who left for the extra 10 million are now suffering for it in terms of athletic performance, lower tv ratings, lower stadium attendances, increased travel for non revenue sports, etc. They have lost their regional rivals, and with it, interest from casual fans in the local areas (insert Chief joke here ___).

That's the point I'm making, and it's hard to deny the stupidity of their collective and ultimately self destructive move for a few dollars more...

Great work so far fellas. Can't help but feel that if we really generate enough hate to take us through the weekend it will help our chances of winning.

I hate the stupid, yellow "BC Superfan" t shirts. There is a guy in my neighborhood that wears one when he jogs and it makes me laugh every time I see it. I guess I should give him some credit for actually going out in public with it on, but good lord is it a laughably bad t shirt.

I would love that image on "I HATE BOSTON COLLEGE" on a t-shirt!

I don't hate BCU.

But for a Catholic institution to act the way they did leaving the Big East is very, very scumbag. It was the worst kind of unethical behavior to lie and stab their partners in the back. That was thirty pieces of silver type of stuff. They should lose their status as a religious school. It's the kind of thing that sends you to hell.

.

I have been waiting awhile to respond to this thread, and I don't have any specific characteristics to point out, that have not been already stated. No clever jabs.

But Lord I hate BCU for all the reasons that have been mentioned times 10.

Why do I hate BCU? Basically because they are BCU and we will crush them like cockroaches in the next few years.

"It's just a Connecticut thing."

So Pal, for you to say what you said - I seriously question your home team emotions.

Hate them every day, every afternoon, every evening, and dream of them being eclipsed by UCONN.

I am not Catholic bashing here, but the administrators of that religious sect are so hypocritical it is not funny. Forget about the Catholic aspect, what about the human aspect, what about commitment, loyalty, concern for their brethren.....NOT!

Irregardless of its affiliation, BC's leadership revealed themselves to hypocritical, backstabbing liars who genuinely shat their pants when faced with the reality that UConn was going to lap them in all things athletic.

I think the money is more in the neighborhood of 20 million more per year and for RU 30 million. Those numbers make the switch from the Big East to the ACC & B1G a no brainer. None of those schools were ever in the National Championship picture regardless of what conference they belong to, so why not take the money.

They are a private business, we are a state run and owned business. No private entity has any obligation to do anything to help promote a state run and owned entity. In BC’s case it’s the way the government wants it. It’s called separation of church and state.

Thanks for your interest in UConn Football.

You’re being over sensitive. Their is a clear path for us that can make us a big fish. It’s all about building the AAC. We must become leaders in this conference starting with expansion. The more we bash the AAC the more irrelevant we make our program.

They are not a private business any more than the church down the corner is a private business.

They basically pissed on Jesus shoe. So what do they stand for? Nothing.

Relative to the human aspect. If uconn were offered and accepted a spot in The Big Ten, would they be hypocrites regarding their loyalty, commitment and concern for their brethren. Or would they simply be taking advantage of an opportunity that was presented to them. It seems like they took advantage of an opportunity. Just like Miami, West Virginia, Rutgers, Maryland, Nebraska, and many other schools.

I don’t hate BC, I don’t care about them enough to hate them. I hate USC.

Get a freakin' clue. It wasn't BCU accepting an offer. There was nothing innocent about the way they left.

It was BCU lying over and over again. You know the commandment "thou shalt not lie" they broke that early and often. It was BCU going behind their their partners backs when they had a responsibility to protect them. They kept information from their BE partners (more lying). It was BCU abandoning their primary mission to the church for money. They were dishonest. Period. It was shameful and disgusting. And it has nothing to do with UConn or even conference switching. It has to do with lack of integrity and sin by an institution that claims to be teaching its students about morality.

Sounds like you are very comfortable with your eyes closed.

So would you support Uconn joining the Big Ten
