Devanney has done a fabulous job at Trinity, and is obviously an outstanding football coach. And I’m sure could motivate and evaluate players at any level. But I stand by what I said —recruiting at :UConn and recruiting at Trinity are entirely different kettles of fish, and I’d want someone at at least the FCS level for that experience.

Devanney would be a sneaky fantastic hire. He’s a lifelong Connecticut guy and an absolutely dominant coach for 10-15 years (including this year once again) who wouldn’t be looking to bolt for greener pastures once he fixed this program (unlike the coach we will likely bring in here).

That being said, it would take balls for Benedict to hire him because of the names people are expecting to be on the sideline next year.
But at the very least he deserves to be on that interview list, even if he’s the last one on the docket. No harm in Benedict taking an afternoon talking to him. At which point he would probably be like “oh shttt, I want to hire this guy…but can I?” Lol

You're not the official BY pedant, Hans is. If he hasn't weighed in, then the title is fine.
Never said I was anything. I simply asked if it could be edited to (for example): "Who's on your list for next hc?" Simple question. If not, that's fine. I'll just continue to cringe on the inside everytime I look at it. ;)

Has to do public appearances and fund raisers for Tigers untill 2025? How in Hades does that square with coaching at another institution? Is he leaving coaching?

Well, I for one would first like to get a staff who can get us to #2 in the country. After that I'll see how I feel about the team laying a turd.
We hired a DC that ND to the playoffs, then got embarrassed on national TV against Alabama. So Ferentz is looking more like a Diaco than a Herman.

Well that is certainly an impressive and intriguing resume. I could see an under-the-radar candidate like this be the guy DB falls in love with

Herman is the type of guy that I would really like and that I think is a real possibility. He would likely make major improvements on offense and if he won big he will be gone in a couple of years, but he will have re-established UConn as a legitimate program. At least that is my hope.

I put Herman and Moorhead in the same category... probably out of reach but would be ideal candidates. I would think Herman would be generating more interest with schools than Moorhead. He proved that he can be very successful at the FBS level when he was at Houston. And his stay at Texas wasn't great but it wasn't awful. Moorhead doesn't have the same history of success as a leader.

But...I would be ecstatic with either. Even though I do think they are long shots.

Tom Hermans coaching career is really impressive, he’s also young at 46yrs old. Hermans the Chicago Bears offensive analyst, so he might be interested becoming a HC again? Who knows, I think Moorhead and Herman should be a priority, if they say no at least we tried.
Moorhead will not talk publicly about his recent surgery which will probably concern some people.

I toured the Storrs campus yesterday (10/20) with my son. I've been to the campus over the years, but not in the buildings and didn't really walk the grounds. I am astounded how beautiful that campus has become. I couldn't contain my excitement seeing the school on the ground level and reminiscing about my days there. I graduated in 1990.
With that said, I feel like any coach who summarily dismisses UConn as a dumpster fire and not salvageable is a fool. Between the facilities we have, the quality of the education, the beauty of the campus, the support of the governor (or so he says), the lack of competition for attention (no pro teams in state), and The Dairy Bar, there is a ton of potential there for the coach who sees it. I would like the admissions loosened a little, but outside of that I think the pieces are in place for someone to succeed.
On a related note, we've been to a few campuses now. Up to this point, nobody has their brand/mascot as visible on the campus as UConn does. You are constantly reminded that you are a Husky. I love it. We've also been to UMass Amherst, New Hampshire, and Endicott with future visits planned to Roger Williams and URI.

I doubt any coach is going to call UConn a dumpster fire. I think there a many that won't take the job because there are better opportunities, but the school as the money to pay a top notch coach and assistant pool to easily turn around and win 6 games relatively quickly. The talent is there. All you have to do is watch any of the games once Tyler Phommachanh started. Just need someone that's gonna maximize their potential.

Lashlee isn’t even going to take a glimpse at UConn-the reasons have been discussed ad nausea
Helton and Herman are unreal long shots- no way
Doubt Briles looks outside a P5
Healy and Applewhite are intriguing but Applewhite seems to have skeletons in his closet
Moorhead may just like to collect 7 figures without the head coach headaches

Lashlee will probably be out of a job in December.
