What part of it’s not up to Uconn or it’s coaches when he comes back that ppl aren’t understanding?

If you both have sources that are telling you the things you are reporting here, one of you has sources that are wrong. Neither of you, presumably, knows which one it is that has the wrong source(s). Therefore, both of you would be well served to turn down the machismo and turn up the humility to minimize the bad feelings when the outcome is revealed.

That's my personal advice, given as an empathic human. However, as a Boneyarder I say to both of you: Damn, son! Are you gonna let him talk to you like that!?

I wonder what he will say when he doesn’t play on the 6th ?
You’ll still be wrong if Bouk comes back 2/10 against Providence. Which was the post that you originally replied to.

I already said he won’t be back before the 23rd at the earliest. We can revisit this then.

Yep - just what we need - another message board "insider" with a schtick.
Don’t need to be an insider to use the internet to figure out Bouk likely had arthroscopic elbow surgery to remove the bone spurs, and though the timetable is lengthy, the description for recovery is that the pain goes away immediately and the rehabilitation process should begin immediately to regain strength in that region.
Hurley said in an interview like the 17th, that Bouk had a couple weeks of rehab, if his rehab is done(which it should be), it makes sense for him to be returning to practice as Kenny and Hurleyman have said. Wouldn’t be surprised if he plays in a week(7days) if he’s playing well in practice. Seton hall would be 3 and change weeks from the surgery so lines up with the initial 2-4 week parameter.

Do I smell a wager coming?
Well hopefully the moderators don't delete this one like they did the other one.

I don't understand why that poster's prediction and all the responses got deleted. Someone will be wrong so let the guy live up to it if he's wrong. Now we have nothing in writing to see what he predicted. But I'm not forgetting what he said.

Well just remember that he said that was the goal. As you said, the doctors still need to sign off on that when he gets to that point. And as we've seen a million times in sports injuries sometimes heal in different timelines than doctors initially lay out.

Look — it is entirely rational to be more concerned about your professional future than it is winning college basketball games or having fun playing. It is also entirely rational to determine that you’ve set yourself up with enough money that playing for more, and risking getting less due to injury or performance, stops making sense. IF, and that’s a big if, that’s what Bouk is doing, he has every right to do it.

That having been said, you don’t achieve what he has achieved without desperately caring about competing and winning, and every NBA exec knows that at the end of the day a player who desperately wants to compete and win will be of a lot more value than one who is only worried about the green. Michael Jordan wasn’t the greatest ever because he protected his God given ability. He was the greatest ever because he combined that talent with a desperate desire to be the best on every single possession.

Not much more to be said. Book doesn’t owe anyone coming back, but not coming back will also be a message that GMs won’t forget down the road.

Chief agrees with most that you said. I think James is probably torn himself between these factors. Chief also believes the NBA GM’s don’t want a high pick headache, and agree they want guys who unselfishly compete. I also think in this case at least the advisers Chief knows are sincere and think they are advising in his interest. But, I may not agree with their conclusion. My advice is to come back and LEAD the team for a real complete season. I think he would be stronger then and would have the body of work to be a top 5 pick. We likely would go very deep in the tournament and that would add nationally to his exposure. Endorsements are another economic factor.

Hopefully James' advisors don't agree with you. He will be throwing away money and won't move his draft position more than a few spots at most by coming back, and if he gets injured he could lose out on millions.

Question. I understand most kids projected to be drafted take out an insurance policy. A. Can the school cover any out of pocket expenses tied to this policy if there are any? B. Will they insure kids who have had prior injuries? Remember Bouk also had knee surgery in high school. If he isn’t insured I am sure that affects how likely he is to return.

Hahaha. Fake insider wars. Oh how fun. Too bad I have Chief on ignore. Lol @ the guy saying it’s a doctors decision when he plays again, clearly you don’t watch high level sports when people who shouldn’t be playing play all the time. I’m sure a doctor “cleared” akok to play but clearly he wasn’t healthy.

Oh another one. I’ll keep this simple. If Uconn puts him on the court before the Dr clears him(which won’t happen) and god forbid something was to happen then they will have much bigger issues.

I believe him. It was pretty clear what happened here as soon as they elected to have a clean up operation with a relatively long rehab and recovery time, typically reserved for the off-season, midseason. Sucks because we built an entire team around him and only rostered 4 guards because we expected him to play 35 minutes per. Not Bouks fault Hurley has made it very clear that he wants to play. But it is what it is this is the modern era of college bb.

I would guess Bouks going to be back.

That said, what kind of idiot GM would draft him lower based on him sitting out the rest of this insane season to preserve his body (other than maybe feeling like they hadn’t seen enough of him). I think the reality is none. If they like him, no one will draft him lower if he decides not to play.
