I use that one, but there is a lot of lag in it at any given moment (includes some states and not others). This one is pretty good. The COVID Tracking Project
It only updates as numbers come in. But it is pretty reliably for the final numbers if you look at yesterday.

They say the peak is still two weeks away but it was nice to see them go down if even for a day.

Getting back on topic of the OP, there is zero tolerance for food waste. No more "it's not enough worth saving" when deciding what makes up leftovers.
So true, my wife is saving leftovers and we're eating a lil of something the next day or so. I would say also that there is no uneaten food hitting or trash can. We also are not putting heaps of food on our plate or overcooking. If its edible it stays. If its not my miracle food making wife will even then decide if its salvageable.

The slope of the line is the key....that's the rate of change...

We've been doing "leftover night" every four or five days. I think we are going to make it a habit going forward.

Don't know why more families don't always do this, many foods are better as leftovers than fresh. It also saves a tremendous amount of time and money.

Leftoverphobia is one of those American "things" most of the rest of the world doesn't understand (rightfully so). We often joke around Thanksgiving about turkey leftovers and stuff but it's easy to do with meal prep and other areas- broths, soups, chili, stews, etc.

Going on a tangent, another nice thing about staying at home all day, is breakfast for any meal is doable. Just took some deli ham and sautéed it, crumbled up a biscuit, cracked a few eggs and topped it with some shredded cheese. Great lunch bowl.

Here's a good place to follow new cases and fatalities. United States Coronavirus: 143,249 Cases and 2,499 Deaths - Worldometer

Yesterday (29th) the daily new cases in the USA dropped and daily deaths had a big drop.
I use that one, but there is a lot of lag in it at any given moment (includes some states and not others). This one is pretty good. The COVID Tracking Project
Need to pay attention to the hospitalized number. If that number accelerates and hospitals become overwhelmed the mortality rate will be higher. One of the two reasons for social isolation was to reduce this curve.

I take it the tests in the COVID Tracking Project only determine who has the infection at the time the test was taken. The serological testing that is not reported in either site will provide a better picture of the overall spread and reach of the virus. Worst case scenario is all those negatives from people in the COVID Tracking Project never had the virus. Need to know the percentage of those negatives who are immune to get an idea of how close we are to reaching herd immunity.

It's better than what we've been doing. Each thinking the other is going to have it for lunch, then throwing it out when it grows hair.

Claim: New York doctor "cures" 699 patients with Hydrochloroquine, Z-Pak, zinc combination. It's not a double blind study but it does reach statistical significance.

A close friend of mine works in a group home (homeless). One client felt sick they sent him to the hospital. The hospital did their thing and told the client it was the flu, and sent him back. The client didn't get well so they sent him back, and then they discovered the virus and admitted him.

Of course the employees were notified of this and had scheduled tests this week. My friend developed diarrhea over the weekend, and the next day his condition worsened. His wife took him to the hospital and they diagnosed him with the virus. He's old, at risk with major health issues.

Until he was diagnosed he traveled with his grandson to the barbershop, and hosted some of his family at his house (all while asymptomatic). I'm sure his wife has it, and the barber is quarantining. Family members were exposed so who knows, and furthermore who knows who they exposed.

Another friend works for the State CDF, an employee got sick. The Agency called all co-workers alerting them that the employee was sick and they could be exposed, and to quarantine. They could not release the employee's name (HIPPA is not a good thing these days), but were told to await a follow-up call in a few days if their exposure to the virus is confirmed. He did not receive a call, but was on edge.

Just saying be very careful of who you are in contact with, even family members. My neighbors are going in and out of the house like normal. A lady I talked to is having her children come by daily (social) but she can't guarantee her children are complying, my wife's aunt son visits with his friends and goes out into the community. I'm sure we all know similar people or similar stories.

The bottom line is paranoia is a virtue right now, and disregard hurting people's feelings. The enemy is hidden, dangerous and deadly and does not discriminate.

I'm actually scared and I'm never scared. My friend who is sick will need a miracle to stay alive. Dying nowadays is an isolated thing, with no funeral for families to collectively grieve. (A friend of mine lost her sister last week, no funeral).

Please stay safe Yarders, we have more games to watch, enjoy and complain. You guys are helping me get me through this, believe it or not.

Is this guy claiming to give these drugs to people with mild symptoms?

Nice touches to the article with the typos and mentions of Rudy Guiliani.

LOL it’s not even a controlled study. The guy is describing his anecdotal experience with no comparison group. Both of them making some pretty hyperbolic claims that go completely against well documented clinical course data from all over. Symptoms going away in a few hours after starting treatment is just pure rubbish

Can’t assess statistical significance if there’s no two groups to compare possible treatment effects.

not saying they won’t turn out to be useful, but this is not the way we determine effectiveness.

I thought that this was interesting:

Fauci offers more conservative death rate in academic article than in public virus briefings

You’ve probably heard that COVID-19 is far deadlier than the flu. But it could turn out to be more akin to a severe flu season. Surprisingly, both of those assessments come from the same authority at the same time: Dr. Anthony Fauci, the nation's chief infectious disease specialist.

Fauci, the director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, has repeatedly cited more jarring figures in public. For instance, Fauci declared in March 11 congressional testimony that the current coronavirus “is 10 times more lethal than the seasonal flu,” which would be about 1 percent. His testimony generated news headlines that blared across the internet and television news, and it remains frequently cited today.

But among his learned colleagues in academia, he has provided the more conservative analysis.

“[T]he case fatality rate may be considerably less than 1%,” Fauci wrote in an article published in the New England Journal of Medicine on March 26. “This suggests that the overall clinical consequences of COVID-19 may ultimately be more akin to those of a severe seasonal influenza (which has a case fatality rate of approximately 0.1%) or a pandemic influenza (similar to those in 1957 and 1968) rather than a disease similar to SARS or MERS, which have had case fatality rates of 9 to 10% and 36%, respectively.”

Everyone spread out a little more

This is what’s really pissing me off about how this disease is being managed. First it was a droplet disease. Then it was briefly considered an airborne disease that is “aerosolized”. Then it was back to droplet for a while but stay 6 feet away because small droplets can travel in a cough/sneeze. Now it’s airborne again??
