What are you binge watching?

The American Revolution Ep. 5: Damn, how many times has South Carolina straight betrayed America? I count at least twice.

I watch as much as I feel like watching and then stop and come back to them.
 
Pluribus. This show is captivating.

Soylent Green is People. When the Hive was actively rounding up dead bodies in trucks in episode one, I was highly suspicious. Then they mostly let it go, but now I see I was right.
 
The American Revolution. Turns out I know a lot more about the revolution than I thought I would. Almost none of it was new to me except some of the personal stories. I did enjoy it.

I'm starting to watch Minx which has some excellent nudity. What's really amazing about the time is how pornography sort of became mainstream in America. It is a bit silly but it is cast very well and the episodes are very short and digestible.

I'd never heard of this, but decided to watch an episode. It's pretty good. It is a good cast even though I've never heard of any of them except Perkins.

Yup. There's more to it though. The psychic glue of the GUAC RNA 'virus' reached everybody on the planet but a dozen people. My guess is we don't know a 10th of what is going on.
 
"The Black Rabbit" was riveting. In the realm of "Ozark" but NYC-based. Great cast (Jude Law & Jason Bateman) & pretty much guaranteed to be a one season limited run.

We watched it over 2 days.

As good as his track record has been, this might be Vince Gilligan's best yet. Seehorn has to be the prohibitive favorite to win the Emmy for best actress. And I'm loving the absurdist touches Gilligan throws in.

To me, I don't think this is a Soylent Green scenario. It doesn't follow that they'd leave 13 people untouched by the virus while giving them everything they want if they were feeding on people. It's something else. That they fear Carol yet won't eliminate her is the key to understanding this, IMHO.

We will find out. My theory is that the mystery "milk" is necessary to continue the psychic link the hive shares. It's maintenance and
yes I think it is derived from dead humans, who they were rounding up in box trucks
The hive seems to be ill equipped to deal with unexpected externalities like the 13. The behavior to do no harm to living things and not to lie is hard coded. So it's a race to convert the 13 before they find a way to unravel the joining.

Turns out it was a Soylent Green scenario. The takeaway is how the other eleven rationalized it (via Diabete) and have been routinely meeting without even telling Carol about it.
 
Several years ago I took a stab at Ted Lasso. Watched a couple episodes, didn't do anything for me. Started over recently with my dad. You have to get to around episode 4 before it picks up. Then I really enjoyed it for quite a while. But season 3 is a drag. Don't know what they did, but they tweaked a winning formula. Also going from 30 minute to hour long episodes was not a good idea.

We've watched through all 3 seasons at least 5 times now. Still finding new jokes. It's a tremendous show.

The main complaint about the arc of the Nate character is because the hints are so subtle first time through everyone missed them but I assure you they are there.

You can only do the fish out of water plot for so long. Seasons 2 and 3 are masterworks of character and cast development.

To anyone who has only watched it once, watch it again. I will die on this hill.

After ep6, I have a theory that the code originated from Earth and bounced back.

I knew it was going to come down to Carol and the guy in Paraguay. Seems to be the case. The rest are just short sighted or lacking in courage.

Side comment. She really should get her Range Rover back. There’s nothing comfortable about cop cars. So I wonder what that means. Perhaps symbolic representation of Carol as the last defender of humanity.

Just my opinion, but the shows just aren't zippy, clever and fun like they used to be.

Shandy is a terrible character. Zava is a weirdo that took everything on a detour to...I don't know where. The turn Keeley's character took was telegraphed, but I don't think it was set up well and just seemed totally random.

I'm not all the way thru season 3, but I'm not particularly motivated to continue.

Back in those days when I was a submarine sailor at Pearl Harbour, I would go down to the Queens Surf bar with the Banyan tree weekdays and drink with him. He was quite a character then when he wasn't on the mainland shooting the shows.

Having a hard time jumping into S5 of Stranger Things. I can't get past the "how many times can a group of kids outsmart and defeat some undefeatable monster"? Can someone who's seen the new episodes make me feel any differently about it?!

It's the final season, so I'm assuming they get it right this time. My issue at the moment is that some of the cast turns 30 next year.

I've seen some great memes pointing out how much the actors have aged since the show originally aired.
 
My one Ted Lasso beef is that Lasso never seems to understand the game. Sure you have that Finland thing or whatever it was but for the most part, he's just passive while Nate or Coach Beard develop ideas. I think the fish out of water concept works in year one, but I would have liked to have seen him develop an understanding about the game and override his assistants' advice in key moments, potentially in quirky ways. Other than that, it is an excellent series. Quirky, but good.

I started in advertising in 1977. Close enough to the time of Mad Men to smell it. Amazingly, one thing that is not exaggerated in the series is how much drinking went on in the biz back then. Getting blasted at lunch, with or without clients, was common. And yes, lots of folks had bars in their offices.
